VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
In this video, I have covered the main ideas behind the so-called wayward queen attack (Scholars Mate) and how you can avoid it with Black pieces. The Scholar's Mate is one of the most well-known checkmating patterns among chess players. It ends the game after only four moves by attacking the weak f-pawn with a bishop and a queen. Trust me, this is not the video that you'd want to skip, even if you are an advanced player.

The most annoying player styles in chess (and I am aware that there is nothing wrong with any one of them - just that it increases my desire to punish them) 1. Early queen attacks aiming for the scholar's mate 2. Extremely quick moves 3. Repeated checks aiming for a draw 4. Offering a draw in a completely lost position 5. Trying for a three fold repetition

1. Early queen attacks don't bother me, because I find that 2 things happen. a. You get to chase their queen around the board and you get a ahead in development while they're just pushing the queen from square to square. b. They end up blundering their queen. 2. Doesn't bother me. I play at my own pace. Sure there's a little less thinking time, but if you know your theory, then it's not a problem. Blitzers, as I call them (especially early queen attacks) are prone to blundering. 3. I had a game like that yesterday. I was on the brink of being check mated myself so I had to keep checking until my opponent made a mistake I could take advantage of, they ended up not making a move for over 3 minutes and timed out. 4. Never had that happen. After I repeated a number of checks I was going to offer a draw but I could see a good move if I could get into position. I probably would have accepted one from my opponent. 5. As good as draw, but the simple way to avoid it, is to not repeat the 3rd move. You just have to concentrate to make sure you don't repeat a position. Easily avoidable.

That's a very dubious way of starting the game of chess. Never get intimidated by such openings. As per the rule of thumb, if yo opponent is playing on the sides of the board, start playing on the center and develop all your pieces normally with moves such as e5, d5, Nf6, Nc6, Bc5, Bf5 or Be6, h6, a5, 0-0, etc. Don't pay attention to what they are doing. Just play your normal chess, ensuring that you develop all your pieces towards the center of the board.

As Kaspa said, you can get a change to take the center and get ahead in development while they're putzing around on the outside of the board. They will create weaknesses where they may castle their king. Bide your time and they will become apparent.
