I've got huge respect for the Japanese people for taking the courage to accuse and ask questions straight into their face making them extremely uncomfortable to explain their abomination of a trilogy. Something that you don't and you'll never see happening in the West like in the US because you'll become targeted by the media and you'll probably miss some hollywood contracts and award nomination seats. Hollywood has no power to affect the media in Asia

Anthony N the japanese take their entertainment very seriously. If they dont like it, they will say it. And the japanese service and entertainment industry also understand that the “customers are gods”, so if the complaints r rational, the industry will listen. Ie: their anime and manga industry. Those of us outside of japan have little to no influence over their manga n anime but their domestic customers do. If u rmmbr that case of goblin slayer and shield hero, where alot of westerners made angry noises bcause it had rape (goblin slayer) and false rape accusation (shield hero), the manga author and anime studio just said “watevs man, OUR fans in JAPAN love it, so suck it up”.

@@USAMUSLGaming I'm fully aware of that. But they threw out George Lucas' treatments and wrote their own stories from scratch. Which has now proved to be an absolutely monumental failure. The overarching story plan is exactly what they needed, instead we got lumped with an in-cohesive mess that is essentially two directors arguing in cinematic form., destroying the entire legacy of Star Wars in their wake like two monsters fighting in "Rampage".

There's literally no point in all of this. All this trilogy accomplished was to strip the accomplishments from Luke and Anakin, turn Han into a terrible husband and dad, turn Leia into a poor mother, kill Anakin's only grandson. All Skywalkers are dead, and even the Skywalker name is given to a Palpatine. Really hopeful.

The translator didn't translate the important part that the Japanese reporter asked. He said "I think fans of Star Wars mainly fell in love with this franchise because of Lucas's vision and lore building, and therefore - Question"

Actually it’s not. Lucas didn’t write a full script for the sequels. He wrote story treatments and plot outlines of how he intended to continue the story. Iger was talking about these.

Of course KK says there was no script, but there was an outline that George Lucas wrote that they could have followed. He said that himself in an interview with her. She chose to ignore them and have the movies made the way she wanted them written. Props to the interviewers for asking the question to her directly. I hope she keeps getting asked why she didn't follow the outline.

Lawyerly response from Kennedy there. Technically he did not write *scripts* , but he DID write *treatments* for the new trilogy. Treatments are essentially prototype scripts that are less detailed than an actual script but more detailed than a simple outline. Fun to watch them shift in their chairs after that question lol

Matches_Malone JJ and Abrams are AT LEAST as much to blame. Disney owns Lucasfilm and Kennedy is ultimately answerable to them and their stupid ideas. JJ is the one who wrote and directed most of these movies just as George Lucas wrote and directed the prequels and was crucified for them. JJ and Disney are just as guilty of killing Star Wars yet I see hundreds of video essays by fans attacking Kennedy and very rarely any that specifically attack Disney and JJ on such a nasty scale.

It's such a shame because Daisy, John and Oscar are very likeable and are very good actors. I just can't accept the betrayal of George on the part of Kathy and JJ. How uncomfortable was that part to watch? She literally sat and lied. George had treatments and we know that because he said it and Bob Iger said it. Her way out of this was "he never wrote scripts".

John Utah I think Rogue One is a bit overrated as well. It’s not a bad film but not even as good as the hype around it. On the other hand for example I think Solo is not as bad as the reviews say. From the Mandalorian I saw only 4 episodes so far, it’s ok. Btw it’s funny that people talk more about “baby Yoda” than about the show’s title character. But they clearly rushed this sequel trilogy. I hope they learnt the lesson and they’ll do better from now. Plus they made Darth Revan official canon so I really hope that means they’re making films from the Old Republic era.

David Mink It’s up to you. I have a friend who is not watching any new Star Wars films since The Phantom Menace. For him the whole saga is 3 films. Btw all the errors they made in the Rise of Skywalker it’s because they wanted to please the fans who hated TLJ. Which was a mistake. Back in the days George Lucas said he can’t make a film just to focus on the fan service. I really liked in TLJ that Rey might be a “nobody”. I mean why she has to be a relative to someone from the classic trilogy? I liked the idea that anybody can be special and strong in the Force it doesn’t matter where (s)he come from. But no...fans complained so they put back the story on the soap opera level where everybody is a relative to each other 🙂 (Ok Lucas himself said in interviews that SW is a soap opera from the beginning and it’s all about family matters and not about spaceships) For me the biggest mistake what Disney made is they tried to connect everything to the original trilogy. They shouldn’t have. They should’ve started with new characters and new storyline from the beginning. They shouldn’t have brought back characters and actors from the original trilogy. They had their stories in Episode 4-6. Which had a great end.

George could have had a hand in writing the films, if his treatments were kept and he worked on the scripts with another writer like was originally agreed upon with a handshake as well as the fact that a big reason Disney bought Lucasfilm in the first place was because of George’s treatments. But Iger, Kennedy and Abrams decides to throw his treatments away as they were original and continued the story where Return of the Jedi left off as well as having no identity politics in them. George’s treatments weren’t woke enough for them.

In the full interview, after this video cuts, a female Japanese reporter follows up with: - "Don't you think those ideas together is what had been intended to become the script for episodes 7 and 8?"* Kennedy avoids the question by replying with a bullshit answer. George always had treatments, these are not the same things as "scripts"... of course you don't make scripts unless you are ready to fucking shoot the movies, and those movies were never in development when George was still with his company... but there were outlines if he wanted to do them someday.
