when the retirement age was set at 65, most people died by 70. now most live decades after retirement. why call for them to withdraw into stagnation instead of living richly and contribution to society?

It's not a high quality life. My parents stopped living 'richly' as in being active and engaged with the world when they were in their sixties. My dad was sick the last 10 years of his life. But politicians don't work 8 hour days, they don't work 5 days a week, they get long breaks, they have a sit-down job ---- that's one of the reasons they don't retire ---- that, and their egos are constantly fed, and they like the power and kickbacks. Normal people can't keep standing on their feet, actively working, much past 70 ---- even if they don't die until 90.

Politicians that have been in service of country for over 40 years need to step down because the positions of government for public representation was never meant to be permanent They can’t let go of the power they hold
