KatzKin Leather Seats 5 Year Update! How do they Hold up in my Ram Ecodiesel 1500?

i replaced my factory seats with katzkin leather seats within the first 300 miles of owning this truck back in 2016. this video was recorded 5 years later in May 2021. This truck is my daily driver, i have 3 dogs that travel with me from time to time as well. I think they held up well and will continue to purchase these seats in future vehicles.

That wasn't what I expected from Katzkin, but you did a great job. It's easy to find a "review" where someone just had them put in and all is perfect, but a 5-year review is worth something. Thank you so much for posting this!

every truck i have ever owned with leather all ways gets the driver side wear and that crinkle, they look great for 5 years, great video

Thank you for the review! The seats look great for 5 years of wear on a lifted truck. I think that the drivers side shows surface abrasion versus discoloration though.

I agree, they look great. Leather seems so good but I have an Expedition with pleather and they lasted a LOT longer than leather. I am in the market again for a used Expedition and they all need seats. Otherwise, they look good when all detailed up. Great share, thanks.

I put a very light uv tint on my front windshield and I never had to worry about the heat inside and I live in south Florida. yes I know it’s illegal but you can’t notice it’s tinted.

After I got my leather seat upgrade in my truck, I bought a $25.00 "leather" seat bottom cover for driver's seat only since that side sees the most ass!! It's a cheap investment to protect that portion only since it seems to get the most wear and tear.

Try on a weekly basis using a cleaner/conditioner on that leather. After about the 3rd week you should notice those white spots gone and the leather more supple and pliable. I too have a 3" Carli level, 37's on a F250 and with those tall Tremor boards from sliding in and out are starting to show wear on exactly those same spots.

@@user-dr7uy4kj4y We went with the SEL Convenience package. Love it. It's really nice. The convenience package with the katzkin leather seats feels like a true luxury car.

Be forwarned most of the seats are mostly vinyl especially the back almost all vinyl now their ads even say leather trimmed even factory LEATHER are this way

These types of "leather" seats are usually chromium tanned and treated leather. It's not veggie leather and they never actually last as long as we would like.

No I didn't install but I'm pretty sure no sewing involved. The shop that installed it had it done the same day. Take it easy!

For my Dodge Challenger I was quoted $1,995 for two colored seats with installation included and then $1,695 for single color. They also have heated and cooled options to add. The price varies of course but there’s an idea of price at least.

Did it change your comfort of your seats changing the skin? Are they softer to the sit vs what they were before you changed it?

I just had my wife's car done and picked it up this morning (6 hours ago). Drivers seat feels slightly more firm than it did with cloth. Seats were very comfortable to begin with. I think they're only better now. The cloth felt cheap and stained easily. 2022 Toyota Highlander.

On their site says "The estimated price to upgrade your vehicle with a professionally installed, premium Katzkin leather interior starts at $1795". I have it on my vehicle and it feels great. Definitely worth it!

you need to use a leather conditioner once a while. that leather is starting to dry out.

Yes you are are correct, I applied leather conditioner about once every six months or so. Maybe should've done it note often

@@danielmid6022 according to my cobbler it should be done every 2 weeks. Leather is pretty but high maintenance.

@@dg7848 true. Window tinting also helps protect the leather. Even my windshield has a light tint 35%. My interior looks brand new.

Not true. Katzkin leather has a coating that protects … only has to be washed with water and ivory bar soap…. Leather conditioner penetrates deep damaging the protective coating making it shiny and then leather exposed dries out abstain of using leather conditioner. Clean with wet microfiber and let it dry out avoid humidity penetration. Mines have 4 years and still smell and look new. Check Katzkin recommendations on this
