I want to contact Tim about a script I am working on where Aliens kidnap him and Kyle.... By a total F-up we all have the same names wives and cousins too just not the last name.. If and when I contact Taryl this should be the gasser of all gassers... he just lost a friend but I do intend on trying to get ahold of him at the number I have 4 him.... But the aliens shit with me my kid and (OUR SLIPPERS) THIS SHIT WOULD BE A TOTAL GASSER PEOPLE WILL SPITTING FOOD AND DRINKS ALL OVER THEIR PC & I-PHONE SCREENS...

This is the only place I've seen the tip to flip aftermarket coils upside down - that is EXACTLY correct and allowed me to get my FB460V up and running. "There's your dinner - WHOOO!" Thanks guys!

This is common... possible with swap on B&S coils I believe when you swap to 'electronic' from certain points setups. Coil 'polarity'...

Really appreciate the tip on turning over the coil and adding the jumper on the kill circuit, you saved me a lot of time and frustration, and the John Deere from a few big hammer blows.

Can I put a kawasaki engine (240 I think not sure) ... it came out of a Gator I think . My 390 Honda "had a fire" and getting it back together is a job - will the Kawaski bolt or fit in ? It has the horizonal shaft and etc .. ? thanks much . Gary

This video just saved a babied John Deere 160. The owner gave it away because it was really hard to start and 2 shops failed to fix it. I found this video looking for component tests, but didn’t find them but I thought of it while setting the airgap. (0.012”) the coil didn’t have a removable wire, and it was right side up. I made an extension wire and flipped the coil and it’s running like brand new again. I will use a NGK J-1 (8083) to splice a longer plug wire on so I don’t have to cut the tin.

Hello. Great Videos! I have a Kamasaki FH430V with bad coil. Kamasaki says the new coils are specific to cylinder one and two they do not interchange, have you ever heard of this? I've not received the new coils yet but how will I know which one is which if they are not marked? With my luck, they won't be!

Ok I bought a coil that come with this module so I guess I will have to use it nothing was said on that so wish you had a vid that shows hooking up the original and the switch diagram cause mine is all apart bought used so I have to figure some things out on my own..ugh.ha.

I know this is almost 4 years old but I'm working on a FB460V that has been left out in the elements. I bought a cheap $23 coil and $9 ignitor, and wasn't getting spark until I grounded the ignitor and disconnected the kill switch wire. I replaced the key switch but it looks like I'll need to run a wire directly to it and bypass everything else. This video was very helpful in diagnosing, however I needed the ignitor and my coil went on normally.

Super !! But You didn't show the Part Number of it... or where ya got the coil!! brand? E-bay?? I replced the coil and Modual..but sparks at the wrong time,, rather than try to find the right modual.. may as well putthe ((B&S type Magnatron)) or a self contained ciol!!! Anyone know the number of that coil ??

Hello Taryl, I'm new to your channel found it looking for help with my tractor. I have a 1987 John Deere with a 540 Kawasaki that is not charging, just replaced the battery today. The voltage is the same 12.4 with it running or not. I unplugged the connector and with the tractor running that comes out of the stator there is no power at the plug? I cant seem to locate the regulator and information on these is getting hard to find. If you could shed some light on this for me it would be appreciated. New to electrical trouble shooting and working on tractors, its an old tractor but in great shape and runs awesome.

Taryl apparently doesn't know we're still waiting for DINNER AND THE PART NUMBER!!! Several requests with no reply. You could try Honda GX620 coil but the holes would need 'customized' to get the gap right. There's yer menu!

My guess: It was made/marked incorrectly during a production run, so they dropped the price and dumped them on the market. It saved the owner lots of benny bucks and fixed the mower. Early production always produces wonky stuff that can't be sold at regular prices so the maker dumps them on an ebay/amazon seller who then sells them to us. Buyer Beware. Thin line between saving money and buying junk. Hey Tim, enjoy your vacation! You've really accelerated my engine education as I shifted gears from Software Engineering to small engine repair. The rest of you folks need to change your oil more often, and quit destroying your engines with the hammer of neglect.

My guess is that the trigger didn't properly align with the magnet in order to provide the pulse to fire the coil. Flipping it changed it's position, thus providing the pulse. That's the only reason I can think of that would matter which direction it faced. Many coils are marked saying which side goes toward the cylinder head.

The coil was not made specifically for this Kawasaki engine, so technically they wound the primary coil in the reverse direction to produce a field with the magnet on the flywheel.

That's an easy answer. Kohler engines are now crap. Kawasaki builds far better engines. Best small engine in my opinion. Kohler will probably go the route of Briggs and Stratton. It's a shame.
