Riding out at Highland Park Resort near Cedartown, GA on my new KLX300. In this video, I'm just giving a review of the bike overall while throwing in some scattered thoughts. I've only been trail riding for a few months - most of my experience is on the street.

I grew up riding Hondas and recently wanted the crf 300l but the more videos I watch I'm leaning towards the KLX.

As you’ve already learned both are amazing bikes. I think you’d be happy with either. The klx just seems a tiny bit more robust and the crf300l has those unfortunate suspension issues where the klx is perfect. But I think if I were 90% street I would have gone crf only because it looks better, has better display, and the suspension issues would not be a real problem like on trails.

@@atlklx5168 Thanks for replying so quick. Yea I heard about the suspension issues and also I grew up riding atvs so this will be my first bike so I kinda wanted to get something that is basically ready to go. I do alot of exploring and I often see roads or trails as I'm our riding around so U thought it would be so cool to be able to just hop off the pavement and go ride down some random diet roads and trails.That new CRF is a good looking bike, I will probably just have to go with whatever is more affordable, might even have to go used but I don't care either way as long as it runs good Have a good one man.

@@easternncbigfoot1288 buy used if you can since both bikes are really reliable. Also you can avoid the $1500 extra fees at dealer (freight/destination is like almost $1k).

The "kick" in power around 7500-8k revs is the cam profile. The new KLX300 took the same cam profile from the KLX300R the trail bike version. You and several other vloggers have mentioned it, and i agree you can feel the kick. Cool video!

Bringing my klx300 out there for the second next on Sunday with my son and his ttr50. Last time I had the 605’s and dumped it in mud. Switched to metzeler 360 mid hards and I’m looking forward to a more solid ride.

Maybe I’ll see ya out there! Let me know how those new tires do I’m obviously looking to switch soon. My 605s have about 800 miles on them and I’ll probably change at 1500.

That was a good watch man you have some nice trails. I actually have family not far from there in Powder Springs that I visit every summer. I just got a KLX 300 dual sport for riding ATV trails and commuting to work up here in Maine. About 300 miles on the odometer so far. The stock tires aren't good in mud or loose sand but they are decent on the public roads so it kind of balances out. I might post some riding videos to my channel but I need a mic for my gopro hero 8... any suggestions?

Thanks bud. I just bought the cheap GoPro mics they have on Amazon (maybe $10-15 for my hero 3). It came with a little clip that I just clip right inside my helmet. It’ll do for now. I’m hoping to wear out the tires soon so I can put something more aggressive on but I agree they are pretty nice on the road so I wouldn’t want to mess that up too bad.

@@atlklx5168 I just checked it out, nice work! I just put up a video but the sound is mostly wind noise from the GoPro's onboard mic. Plus youtube dumbed down the video quality but oh well: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nJ5orbtosNPKaYk.html

Most of my experience has been on cruisers for many years and now I want a duel sport for some reason. I like this bike and have come across many reviews that were mostly positive especially about the superior suspension compared to the competition. I'm considering this bike, along with a Honda 300 Rally and a Yamaha 250 SX. Its not an easy decision so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
@atlklx5168
@atlklx5168 Жыл бұрын
I think the Honda crf300l rally is probably not a good choice because it’s trying to look like an adventure bike, but doesn’t have the power of an adventure bike. And also it’s got that really soft non-adjustable suspension. If you want tight single track capabilities I’d get the Yamaha or klx300. If you want to go longer distances and go faster I’d definitely get the tenere 700. Those are cool bikes.

@@atlklx5168 Thanks for the info. I hope I can find a Kawi 300 cause they are very scarce around here and I might have to wait till next spring..

@@packfan1946 you are right about that. I had to drive about 4 hours to get mine but it wasn't too bad. I would say if you want one you probably will need to be willing to drive a little bit.

@@atlklx5168 I live in NE Illinois near Chicago and many dealerships closed just prior or during the Covid shutdown even the Kawasaki dealer where I bought my 1700 Nomad from. The ones left are small dealers and few and far between with limited inventory. One is a small Honda/Yamaha dealer and another is a Kawasaki/Suzuki dealer who appear to be struggling with sales and inventory issues.

Wondering if possible to lower the bike for shorter riders ? I`m 5'3.
@atlklx5168
@atlklx5168 10 ай бұрын
Certainly. Between lowering links and a seat, you would be able to get at least 2” lower seat height, maybe more. You’d have to budget $200-300 for those components but I think a lot of people do it and there seems to be videos installing lowering links on the KLX. The adjustable suspension would also allow you to ensure that the bike dynamics are not too compromised with the lowered height.
