Yep, 2 completely different purposes. While, in my opinion, both of these are great bikes, I have a cbr650r and it is perfect for me and what I need. I use it to commute and a lot of that is on the freeway. It cruises easily at 80 mph at about 6,000 rpm’s (top speed is 150+) with Honda’s legendary reliability, and is very comfortable for a sport bike. I don’t do any track days but the Kawasaki would definitely be better for that.

@@loftyintentions1985This 636 is designed largely like the 600’s - somewhat of a “bridge” between the 600’s and 650’s but more like the 600’s. The cbr is a bit of an anomaly among the 650’s. With its inline 4 it’s got more top end power than most of the others (94 horses with 150+ top speed) but doesn’t remotely respond like a 600rr. All good bikes though.

Is true the cbr650r is a intermediate step between racing and street bike, but cbr650r is not a slow bike top speed is near to 250 km /h 😮😮😮 good, the zx6r is full track motorbike very aggressive very high consumption, is other level, other price 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

@@Jeandeluka I agree. The cbr650r is a bit of an underrated bike in my opinion. 150+ mph is fast for anything and way faster than most of us are ever going to ride - on track or off. (Not the 180 to 200 mph of the super bikes like the R1 or Fireblade, but still fast.) It’s great fun to ride, about as comfortable as can be for a sport bike, and has Honda’s legendary reliability. It’s a “lifetime bike” for me.

The power on the Honda kills the Ninja by 50 percent.

@someoneelse1i1i I love the Honda, and wish I had bought one when I started riding instead of the Ninja 650. But, since I had the Ninja, I was always looking forward to getting something else once I got the hang of the Ninja. After a few great years with the Ninja, I bought a Z900, and it is fantastic. I might not have done that if I had the Honda.

@@lovelessissimo I understand and they’re both great bikes. My cbr is likely my “forever” bike (I’m old😜) and with bones that now break rather than bounce it’s not necessarily a good idea for me to move up much more in power😂. I’m betting you’re really liking the 900! Stay safe and keep riding.

@@someoneelse1i1i lol thats where i am, too. I don't see the need for more ponies. I might even scale down and get a Guzzi, when i feel like fixing my own bike and learn some italian profanity. The 900 should last a while, though at least until I relent and get a Goldwing.

It's a weird comparison, because other than the fact that both have 4 cylinders and fairings, the bikes couldn't be more different.

@nesto9889 middle weight sportbikes are out there. This comparison is weird. Ducati Supersport, Aprilia RS660, zx6r, ninja 650, R7, gsxr600 and 750 (in the us), cbr650r, cbr600rr, and probably others I am forgetting.

Wow, I don't even ever think that a zx6r is less agile than a 650r. Do you think it's truly not worth it to buy the 636? I'm 5'7, and I've been in love with it for so long, I've imagine a life with it lmaooo but now you've got me reconsidered.

@@HuyHoang-kx6wj to be honnest,i was quite disapointed with the 636, i didnt really feel any sensations below 7000/8000 rpm which for a daily use is not very convenient. However I've never done track days with it , so i have never pushed the bike to its limits and i can't really have an opinion from this side...I believe it reveals its true potential on track. So it depends on how you wanna use it i Guess 🤔i also dont know if the lack of this agility feeling was because of the choice of the tires (Dunlop tt) or not, but i had a way better feeling with the same tires on the ZX10R though. The cbr is heavier on the paper but surprisingly i felt like it 's lighter than the ninja, maybe the rosso Diablo corsa 4 are better for middle sized sportbikes i dont know... What i know for sure is that You can really start to enjoy it a lot from 5000/6000rpm which is a more common range for an everyday use. It's also more comfortable if you plan to ride more than 6 hours in a raw. Anyway I dont regret my choice at all, i find it way more playful, and whatever your riding level is,i think it's a good match. ultimately I recommand you to go to Kawasaki to test the zx6r, maybe you'd like a lot,and you'll have a different feeling than mine. I think 5,7 is great for this bike too.

You have a valid point😜 but still kind of fun. I just like seeing the bike info. You’re definitely right though that anyone that is seriously researching to get a bike for a specific purpose WOULD NOT be considering both of these.

As someone who decided to buy a middle weight sportbike two years ago, I can tell you I considered both of these. I also looked at the ninja 650 and cbr600r. All are Vastly different bikes, but they're all considered middleweight to someone shopping for their first sportbike.

Not really. This is actually one of the comparison I myself would make. Whether it's worth it to pay for a true supersport or just get a touring inline 4. I do like speed and handling, and on paper the ZX6R is the right bike. But my life right now revolves around going to work and go home, so the 650r would make sense. And I would absolutely compare a sportster to a Goldwing.

It is true that, if you already know your specific purpose, it is unlikely that both of these bikes would be on whatever list you’ve compiled to look at. On the other hand, as you mentioned, it’s good for folks (especially the uninitiated) to see the different spectrums they might want to consider (or discard). And it’s fun either way 😊.

honestly come see the bikes in a store and ask if you can sit on it. I'm around 170cm, so also not very tall, but I've noticed that bikes seem a lot lower in real life than in videos.
