If you get any more issues. As a local chap myself i would recommend double take motorcycle's in bond street. They can even rolling road it.

Thanks mate - I've heard of Double Take but never used them. Maybe I'll give them a try when the Zed next needs a service

Nice to see it running again mate. Good job with the servicing. It could well have been Ethanol fuel left standing which caused your issue.

Cheers mate, I'm actually weirdly glad I had this issue, otherwise I would never have been forced to learn about carbs. Not as scary as people would have you (well, me) believe!

@@thomascharnock absolutely. It’s a real advantage. If you have a mechanical in the future, your skills will get you up & running avoiding the AA/RAC/Green flag etc. Big Zed’s are remarkably straightforward ‘bikes, a real advantage. Modern fuels and carbs aren’t a happy marriage unfortunately, less so if you use it all the time but they really hate standing. Enjoy! 👍👍

Everyday is a school day Tom, so would you say its running better than when you first got it? Something therapeutic about taking something apart cleaning it and re-building it (as long as it works afterwards hahahaha)

Hi mate. Yeah I agree. A motorbike, a PC, a Dreamcast…all therapeutic! It was running sweet when I got it and I’d say it’s back to how it was initially 👌

I have 1100 from 1997 carbs need idling jets cleaning out tickover is bit wolly im to scared to do it myself

I was the same mate, but it's really not that difficult if you take your time. Just get all the tools you need and set aside an afternoon and take it slow and you'll do it. If I can, anyone can!

Sit down at the kitchen or dining room table with good light. Take your time and lay everything out as you strip them. Be careful with the pilot jets, their tiny O-Rings and even smaller washers. Don't use Philips screwdrivers, JIS drivers are a must. If any bike shop specialising in Japanese bikes doesn't know what a JIS screwdriver is, RUN FOR THE HILLS!
