Kawhi Leonard is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Clippers in the National Basketball Association (NBA). A two-time NBA champion, Leonard has been named an All-Star six times and has earned five All-NBA Team selections, including three First Team honors. Known as the "Claw" or "Klaw" for his exceptional defensive abilities and large hands, Leonard is widely considered one of the greatest two-way players in NBA history. He has received seven All-Defensive Team selections and won Defensive Player of the Year in 2015 and 2016. In 2021, he was named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team. Leonard played college basketball for two seasons with the San Diego State Aztecs, earning consensus second-team All-American honors as a sophomore. He declared for the 2011 NBA draft, foregoing his final two years of college eligibility, and was selected 15th overall by the Indiana Pacers before being traded to the San Antonio Spurs on draft night. With the Spurs, Leonard won an NBA championship in 2014 and was named the Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP). After seven seasons with San Antonio, he was traded to the Toronto Raptors in 2018. In 2019, Leonard led the Raptors to their first NBA championship and won his second Finals MVP award, becoming one of only three players to win Finals MVP with multiple teams, alongside Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and LeBron James. Leonard then signed with his hometown team, the Los Angeles Clippers, as a free agent in July 2019.
