King of the sweets "Puran poli" or Mangalore style Holige is presented in today's video. Method of preparation of Holige is different according to areas, but one thing is common is stuffing. A perfect Holige requires perfect stuffing and ofcourse rolling too. It won't comes at the first time, it will be perfect with practice. Holige can be prepared with different flavours, but in today's video you can see about coconut flavoured Holige.
Ingredients
Coconut 2
Maida 1/2 kg (for all purposes)
Sugar 2sp
Jaggary 200grms
Cardamom powder 1sp
Seseme or coconut oil 5sp

Why restrict their talent to one small state when he himself resides not in Karnataka and perhaps his town became part of Kerala in 1957? His preparations have no political boundaries,nor they are patented. Cusine has a history. West coast cusine has lot of contributions from foreign travellers for over 800 years and most of items now eaten were all from many other countries. West coast was more barren with white sand risen from Arabian see dute to some Tsunami like natural geological phenomena. Coconut,jackfruit,most spices, are all contributions from invaders. AND, KERALA RECIPES ON KANNADA OR KANNADA RECIPES IN MALAYALAM, MALAYALI RECIPES IN HINDI ENGLISH OR SAME WITH KANNADA.RECIPES,ARE ALL ON KZfaq. MOST VEGGIES ARE SAME.IN WHOLE INDIA,may be names are different even in same city ,forget states. So why only KANNADA SPEAKING PEOPLE SHOULD WATCH HIS VIDEOS. By Frog In the well attitude? Others can Understand cooking even with no audio or showing no face but only hands. There are thousands of such videos.

Unless there is real definition for who is a Kannada,a tamil a malayali etc let us not support or oppose based on presumed language knowledge. Today good percentage of Indiand dho .over out of their state and country do not know fully the language of their birth place. We have Mother tongue,father tongue,state to guest, country tongue, language of state where one lived every 5 years with parents ,in schools or colleges, Medium of education first,second or third language, language of placeses one worked ,........ Lot of people may relate to one language in many levels. understand one language without ability to read, or write or speak or even to recognize which language is being heard. South Indians watched Hindi or Urdu movies in 1950s, 1960s perhaps with such knowledge . So who watches videos is immaterial. Read the original comment very carefully against which I made my comment. STARTING "BHAT BROS NEED INTERNATIONAL EXPOSURE......: Though I know Kannada,I have not told anybody to make video on any other language. I have separately appreciated Bhat and expect that his knoweledge spreads wider areas, and he attains more and more fame. I have clarified also that may be for generations,he may be living in a neigh pruning state and whether he is in that sense alone a kannadiga? That is why I said such words are undefined.

Super kayiholige. Expert presentation with professional skills. Videography and editing are amazing. Even the grinding method is risky, experts grind this way as they have experience. So don't worry, they take care of their hands. But others please don't try unless you have experience or courage to learn it. So for those who are not able to grind this way, you can grind by adding little by little in a mixer jar, close the lid and make a fine powder, as usually you do for other dishes.

Bro don’t keep your hand inside mixi jar and one the mixi grinder, it’s very dangerous and people also may do the same. Food is really good.

@Sasha S That is true.However once in a while certain dishes have to be prepared in an authentic manner.Like sesame oil is best for preparing this Holige.Once in a while spoiling health is not very bad to savour these kind of items,as we can't take more than 2 pieces normally.U may however give a try...

The grinding of the coconut was downright dangerous! Your recipe and enthusiasm in cooking are all fine, Bhatre, but safety while working in the kitchen is MOST important. One small slip, and that could be your last recipe with all your fingers intact!
