I got the R2 too. Very solid design (tho not a fan of their logo at the bottom) and such a steal for this price point. Sad that it's not an always-in-stock type of keyboard kit.

planning on building my first keyboard and I got the same switches but was wondering on which, switch opener did you use or does it require to open the gazzew linear thock switches? enjoyed the review!

Gazzew switches work very well out of the box. If you really want to lube them, a VERY thin coat of 3203 on the slides can be beneficial, but new keyboard peeps almost always over lube. There are a lot of good switch openers out there, most any will work, even tweezers work great, just don't poke yourself. The easiest opener is probably this one stupidbulletstech.com/products/gateron-switch-opener-1 But not worth the money unless you are going to build more boards. Happy building

how can the tape mod possibly damage anything?

Several ways. I have already watched two competent keyboard builders have issues, that’s why I suggest doing your own research. Components can be lifted, pressure on daughterboard connections can cause failure, the wrong tape can really screw things up as well. Even the pe foam mod can cause issues as some of it is conductive.

Boba LTs are by far the scratchiest stock linear I've tested. Maybe I got a terrible batch?? I don't know. I can literally hear the scratch from 2 feet away. They need lubing 100%. Really disappointed by the hype behind Boba LTs. Even NK Creams stock are not this bad as LTs. Alpacas are 1 trillion times more smoother than LTs.
