@@bidenisaclone prob used him for mocap and then did everything else in CGI during post production. Its alot easier to figure out positioning and stuff if someone is there to represent them in a scene.

​@@bidenisaclone they did mocap on them yes but used the biggest people they could find because if you have ever seen a seven and a half foot person move compared to a regular joe it does look quite different. It was easier for them to extrapolate that look from regular-big man-mythical giant

You missed the point of that statement. Only Samurai were considered worthy of the "privilege" of dying to another Samurai in a one on one duel. There is more to being a Samurai than being a good fighter.

That's more or less what steel bracers are intended to do. Only missing the little "sword breaker" tines that you catch the blade in. Then you just twist the arm and snap the blade. In theory. Dunno if it is actually that simple in practice. I'm more surprised they allowed metal armor here. To my recollection, I'd have to check with my brother in law to verify : samurai didn't wear metal armor, since Japan didn't have all that much metal floating around in the first place

@@firejuggler31 for some reason I got a notification for your reply so I got u, It basically means when you establish a character as facing to the left/on the right side of the screen in one shot, you must maintain that position in all shots (unless a clear movement to the other side is shown to the audience), so if you have a wide shot showing Keanu facing to the left and his opponent to the right, then cut to a close up where Keanu’s facing to the right and punching, that breaks the rule

Well done? Too many jump cuts during the fight. Makes the scene look sloppy. One of the reasons John Wick is so good is the use of long takes and wider frames to show the action. Not enough directors use long takes.

You've most likely seen him in a TON of stuff. Some things worth mentioning are: The new Mortal Kombat movie as Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion, Bullet Train as the old man, and The Last Samurai as the brother (I think). He's an incredibly talented martial artist and actor. One of my favorites.

If it was over hardened, yeah it would shatter like glass. A real blade smith would know this, any random idiot watching forged in fire would also know this. Steel does not cut through steel, so just slashing at the golem was a waste of energy and dulling his edge. To defeat that opponent he would need to target areas not protected by steel, like the backs of joints, knees and armpits, side of the neck maybe. When you wield a sword like a baseball bat, this is the result.

How much do you know about metallurgy and forging blade steel? I do this as a professional for my day job. Even the Vikings had developed steel by the 1000AD that could cut right through other European swords and armor using crucible steel which was developed in Asia. This film is to take place during the Edo period of Japan when their own steel making and weapons industry was crafting much greater swords than ever before, nearly 1000 years after the Vikings. Some of the Katanas made in this period were actually handed down and carried by Japanese soldiers in WWII. The scene in this film is total bullshit and made for stupid uneducated Americans.
