Hanging your toes over the edge of the tail. I see a lot of early beginners making this mistake. It's one I have to remind my students they are making constantly. Here, I explain why you should break this habit.

I just figured out this was a bad habit of mine while working on switch Ollies. My natural foot placement in regular is closer to proper than my normal stance. Thanks for helping this beginner and the vids!

I like to refer to one of your previous tips, where you use the boxer analogy. You get much more power off your toes than the ball of your foot

I paused this video after I read your comment got my board tested out the difference and yeah toes have more impact than the bowl of the foot

Awesome content as always. I find gems even in your absolute beginner content, so thank you! I can't wait to hear your thoughts in the Mongo video. I have been teaching myself to regular push after going Mongo for years and would love to hear your insights. Also would love a video with your thoughts on asymmetrical truck tightness and if you personally change your truck stiffness for the occasion or just stick to a set stiffness for all the skating you do. Thanks again for all the tips!

I think this is more of an issue with the younger generation because they all started on scooters. I see kids at the park all the time trying to skate with their knees touching and toes hanging off.

I used a wider board to break this habit but it's hard I'm a size 11 shoe and I use a board that's a 7.75 because having my toes and heal hang over the edges is comfortable and easy makes sense now

I have a wall with my skating. When I was a little kid I was trying to learn kickflips but my technique was all wrong. Many years later I'm back into skateboarding and even after almost a year I still can't kickflip because the way I learned was all wrong and I've been trying to re learn properly. It's gotten to a point that now I'm trying heelflips and I already see progress and it feels so much more natural because I'm learning it properly from the start. Maybe I'll just be a heelflip guy and not kickflips

Hes an outlier so shouldn't be copied but have you ever looked at Bobby De Keyzer's popping foot? He lays his foot fully flat on the board like inward more towards back bolts rather than the tip of the tail. It's amazing that he's able to pop like that.

I have! He’s got an interesting way of doing everything. Probably my favorite skater to watch, these days. I wish he put out more. I tried popping that way myself. But, it didn’t work for me. I wonder what’s different about his ankles…

@@NormanWoods Favorite of mine too. Yeah it feels impossible to cotrol the pop that way. He makes it work wonders tho.
