Mr. Jarrett is not a musician that plays music on the piano. He plums the depths of the emotions the composer experienced when he or she created the piece. Mr. Jarrett absorbs all the feeling that was invested in the piece to the point where he becomes the music and then; using every iota of his heart and soul, he expresses those emotions through the piano. Committing 100% of his being to the process, he provides us with a masterful performance every original composer would likely be proud of.

Tom Parker Actually I think it's easier for jazz pianists than classically trained ones, because the left hand you're playing is the one you compose/improvise, so most of the time you're not trying to play what somebody else was thinking, just what you "hear" and as you hear it.

There is absolutely no chance that his condition will improve. It would already be very complicated for a young person, but at his age, there is nothing to hope for unfortunately. This is for me the greatest loss of the piano world, nobody plays like him

Un'interpretazione unica e geniale. Blues e altre contaminazioni. Questo rimarrà il più grande pianista della storia del jazz. Strepitoso. Immenso.
@MrJdsenior4 жыл бұрын
Gotta say, this is one of my favs of his work. He says he literally goes out on stage at times not knowing one single note of improve he's going to play. He says his best music comes when he's not thinking about it at all, just listening and enjoying. Obviously, from a biologically technical standpoint, he IS thinking, but I think what he means is not consciously thinking, kind of like what some call "muscle memory" in sports, but in a different and higher level way. What he does is as if you were redesigning an Olympic dive (let's say) real time. Likely a SERIOUSLY bad idea in that case (although I have seen a few where it looks like they did just that, TOTAL wipe outs, back and belly flops or smashing against the board or platform). Just letting his subconscious work it out...it knows the rules, it knows music, and it just FLOWS. Scary, but amazing. He said there are times when he felt like he was melting into the high keys of the piano during one concert. Yes, he is weird...his music though....WOW. I also expect he drives the recording engineers absolutely BONKERS, as I've heard from a few Glenn Gould did back in his first Goldberg Variations recording (worth a listen if you've never heard it...quite unique).
