To answer the question at the end, I would choose the M1 Garand as well. Longer range and you can put a knife on the end or it. And if for some reason it stops firing you can use it as a club. Great video though. I would have liked to see a finale with all three stacked together to see if collectively they all would have been level 4.

Creator here I figured out while building it the zip cord would be pretty much useless compared to the muletape. There's too many gaps a bullet can slip through without hitting the kevlar strands. Your better off with more layers of muletape, duct sealant, and the metal insert plates from an OLT than the excessive thickness of the patch cords. I only used the fiber patch cords to tell the difference between the as-is and hardened steel versions. I also liked it for the iconic look that I figured other techs would catch on to.

Answering the question: M1 Garand, not because I don't think the Shotgun would do worse, I think in terms of killing power, the Shotgun would do better. But the criteria of defense was 20 zombies approaching your house, and the Garand can reload, shoot 8 bullets, and reload again before you reload the shotgun. If you asked that with the KSG-25 however, that becomes an interesting answer.

I actually love my KS-7. Only thing is you cant use short brass through them cause the lip isnt meaty enough for it to consistently grip, this can cause failure to pick up the next round. Tall brass cycles through just fine. All that said, the KS series is great room to room and street to street style stuff, but you really have to abuse your shoulder to hit accurately over 100 yds.

It's worthy of note that mild steel is not hardenable to any significant extent. It doesn't have enough carbon in it. Also, if you were to heat it up in a campfire and then quench it. Chances are you would simply induce cracks in the crystalline structure and embrittle the material.

@element-dh9dx
@element-dh9dx Жыл бұрын
@@Thickamus_Jones Or I'm talking about shooting the gun, that makes more force on the slide than hitting a slide release. Right before you feel recoil the slide has compressed your recoil spring and has now slammed all the way back home, with a lot more force than it does going the other way. We're talking 10 lbs of pressure on the spring vs, whatever the recoil is. This is why we need to keep a solid grip on it, otherwise may drop it. Hitting the slide release does not create felt recoil, is my point. Plus, I have never heard of a gun being ruined from doing this, it just can't happen with a poly lower with metal inserts. I can see if it was like a 3 thousand dollar 1911, then I also wouldn't like to shoot it.

Creator of the "Fiber Technician Special" here, It was the Same Material, Same setup, Same Weaving. I used OLT insert plates, duct sealant and muletape as the primary materials. The only real difference was the Yellow wrapped one didn't get hardened/heat treated steel, and it also got fiber cable wrapping so it would be easier to tell the 2 apart. I asked them if I could send in 2 separate versions cause I purposely wanted to know if the steel hardening process will help or if it's just a waste of time and effort. Unfortunately I don't what type of metal composition it is, just know it was magnetic. All the metal came from blank insert cards on an Adtran TA5000 OLT Also the process I used was pretty basic forging, coal campfire pit and a fan to blow it. Heated it up til it demagnetized and quenched it vegetables oil. Then stuck in an oven at 400° for 3hrs I believe. Tried to keep everything as true to my theme as I could, if you found yourself out in fiber hut could you make practical homemade body armor. So I'm sure someone with a real forge and some real experience would have done a better job on the steel hardening part than I did, but it was my first time attempting such a thing.
@SailinCTD
@SailinCTD 2 жыл бұрын
@@woodntuliktano Not knowing what type of steel it is, is huge. So for example A36 steel, which is the most popular structural steel. It does not matter how hot or how long you heat it and how you quench it. It will still be very close to the same hardness after. While a lot of other steels just need to be heated to their transition temp and quenched in oil. And then some steels need very specific steps done while heating and quenched almost perfectly when it comes to cooling time and how even they are cooled. Also the bake at 400 degrees May have gotten rid of most of any hardness you got from heat treat. And this is all in guessing that you had non hardened steel to begin with. I recommend doing a file test next time, if you try again. You can also get hardness testing file sets if you wanted to get more into it.

I think this depends. Are we talking about the fast moving zombies like we've seen from the Dawn of the Dead or we talking slow moving zombies from the Walking Dead? Then the next question, are the zombies killed from a brain shot like in most zombie movies, or are the zombies merely infected people who will still die from normal trauma wounds? Are we facing zombies like that from Return of the living dead part 1 where they don't die from brain shots? Not a bad question Burt.... I think the type of zombie will weight in heavily as to what type of firearms or weapons that will be better suited.
