In this tutorial, we will be covering the origins, insertions, innervation, blood supply and functions of all the muscles found on the hip and thigh. Those are muscles that are attached mainly to the femur and the hip bones.
On the video, the different muscles will split into the different muscle groups where they are usually found. Some schools define the groups by function, but on this tutorial we will define the groups by their location. The hip muscles are going to be slip into hip muscles and gluteal muscles. While the thigh muscles will be slip into the anterior, medial and posterior groups.

Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else wants to uncover hip flexor pain exercises try Letza Joint Relief Lessons (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my brother in law got cool results with it.

Very informative video! Which hip muscles are tight or weak in posterior pelvic tilt? I am bit confused in this as I need to work on these muscles according to their tightness or weakness. Thankyou!

Great stuff. As I turn 40 I am educating myself so I can still play tennis, Hike, Bike , swim, run and feel strong .knowlegde is great. treat your body like a temple they say so true. we will get mad if our 12 year old has coffee, beer yet we adults do it. wow

Nope, that is not the only management for injury of the hamstrings. It all depends on the type of injury and site of injury - proximal hamstrings v.s. distal hamstrings. If it's a proximal hamstring injury, it can be managed alongside corrective exercises of the gluteal musculature, majorly the glute max and meds. If it's a distal hamstring injury, it could be managed alongside corrective exercises for the gastrocnemius.

The site mentioned in visual for the flexor muscles tendon is actually the patellar ligament (not tendon). Above the patella, the quadriceps is called patellar tendon.

8:05 is not the quadriceps tendon, this is the patellar ligament.

i agree with you, but since the patella is a sesamoid bone, the patellar ligament can be also considered as a continuation of the quadriceps tendon.

@@yoseftarshis7518 The quadriceps tendon is between the muscles of the quads, to the superior aspect of the patella. From the interior aspect of the patella to the greater tubercle of the tibia is the patellar ligament (sometimes incorrectly referred to as the patellar tendon). The quadriceps tendon is continuous with the vastus intermedias, and the rectus femoris inserts into this tendon.

Sir why you put obturator externus in medial group of thigh not in deep layer of gluteal muscles

Hello there! Functionally the obturator externus works with the inner gluteal muscles, however anatomically is sometimes considered as part of the medial compartment due to the fact that it is found anterior to the hip bone/ischium i.e. separate from the other gluteal muscles.

I often get pains in my hips especially the right side. When I lay down I can slightly rotate my femur and I can feel the bone rubbing and passing by something that is very very tight. It kind of hurts but it also relieves the pain in my hip when the bone rolls across the muscle. I’ve never been able to figure out what’s going on until now. I believe that muscle at 4:18 is the really tight muscle that’s causing the pain. Thanks for the video it helped me to understand what’s going on inside my body lol

Addressing the QL during massage might be beneficial. Also psoas work. The psoas cannot be directly contacted during massage, but it can be contacted indirectly.

Gluteal tuberosity of femur is wrongly indicated in animation, I think. It really is where muscel grows into femur, as correctly shown here. (3:42)
