Replacement of belt, tensioner, and rollers on a Kenmore 600 dryer. The belt number is 341241 and pulleys are WP691366. You can probably find these in a kit from your favorite local or online retailer. This procedure should be similar for many other brands, including Whirlpool and Amana.

I randomly selected a dryer repair kit online in hopes that I could fix (zero experience) my Kenmore dryer that sounded like it had boots in it. The bottom drum roller had so much hair wrapped around the axle that it could barely spin. The drum wore a flat spot in that roller, but it would spin about every three seconds, and the drum would thud on the flat spot. This video came in handy as I forgot how to route the belt around the tensioner. Thank you for sharing it.

Excellent! I replaced the belt/drum pulley assembly on my dryer about 10 years ago due to a broken belt; it has since developed an occasional squeak. The roller wheel assemblies are original and were only shop-vac'd to remove dust during the pulley replacement. Looks like I'll be following your procedure to address this issue. Good work on the video,

My dryer must've been pretty old, the tensioner was just a smooth piece of plastic -- no roller of any sort. Got you beat on the loot though, $2.53 and a foam earplug. Thanks for the video, wasn't sure how to get the rollers off. My felt strip was the big problem, wore out to the point there was metal-on-metal and the drum didn't want to spin even with an intact belt.

Excellent tutorial for both belt replacement and squeak fix. I have that squeak issue too. This is the only KZfaq video that addresses that fix. Would you recommend adding a little electric shaver oil to the roller shafts? I'm sure the shafts on my dryer are just as dirty as yours were. This is my first attempt at fixing a Kenmore dryer belt. It looks super easy to do. I just hope to fix the squeak too as it drives me nuts hearing it.

CAUTION! First, several inexpensive makes/models are covered by this video; a lot of them are laid out the same. Mine's a Maytag. Once you have all the parts in and your belt on , do NOT roll the drum by hand in opposite direction of the way it's designed to turn. Mine runs counter-clockwise, (I'm sure all do) looking from front. After I got the belt where I wanted it, checked everything, I rolled it once more but in the wrong direction and this caused my belt to run off of the tensioner. I didn't catch this before putting on the panel and turning it on. I shredded my belt but not too badly. Made a bad noise. Took a short while to figure out. I don't know if other makes/models do this, but I wouldn't test the theory.
@ssmonte8738

I have rotated mine both ways but the belt was already centered on the drum and it didn't cause any issue. Good thing to note anyway. Thank you!

Had a squeal on Whirlpool. Discovered it was one roller. I ordered a replacement kit, but in the mean time I lubed said roller with WD-40. Worked like a charm. No more squealing. Just a note for those who may need a quick fix due to no parts on hand.

How did you access did you have to disassemble
@AndrewTaylorJr
@AndrewTaylorJr 2 жыл бұрын
@@michaelchopper7317 I did disassemble to the point of the drum being removed. This gives you good access to the rollers. My sqeaky one was the lower one, the one he's working on here 5:38. I did NOT have to disassemble the roller though. The roller was stiff when moved. I sprayed straight into the center of the roller where the bearing is at the front and back. It then became very smooth when operated. Put it all back together. I don't think you can get in there to spray where you need to without removing the drum. If it's the upper roller, maybe..... It's easy to remove drum though, my dryer is very similar to the one in the video. If yours is, follow his instructions and you'll be fine.

That was a perfect repair demonstration except curious why no high-temp grease on the wheel spindles? I understand grease can attract dirt but I think the school of thought could go either way as far as how fast they wear out. Is the tub light on order? Subbed!

All the belt videos I watch say put the ribbed side against drum. My belt is ribbed on both sides. One side is smooth and the other is abrasive, but both have ribs. Which side goes against the drum?
@ssmonte8738
@ssmonte8738 2 жыл бұрын
I don't know if it will matter that much. It needs to grip the drive pulley and the drum. The ribs will grip the drive pulley and the drum will be gripped no matter what due to the massive belt contact area.

Good video. I noticed several other folks put the drum on and then the tensioner pulley. You put the pulley in first. I like your method best since there’s so little room to navigate once that drum is sitting in there. It’s a minor observation but I was curious why the big repair shop videos all seem to do it the hard way? Any thoughts? Thanks for the video.
