Kevin, Tony, and Ryan talk about Kenner's T2 toy line. Terminator 2 was the coolest action flick of the 90's, but why did it get a kids toy line?
Thanks to Tony from @HackTheMovies and Ryan from Monster FX (instagram: @Monster.FX ) for being a part of this episode.

The T2 3-D variants were available at Toys"R"Us when the attraction was picking up. Also, there was Hidden Power Terminator in the T2: Future War lineup if you wanted a battle-damaged sunglasses-wearing Terminator.

Ah man I had all of these. The rapid deploy T-1000 with the missiles that fired out of his buttocks, the same buttocks that flipped up behind his head. Sooo stupid for so many reasons :) The bioflesh Regenerator was a nightmare and created such a mess that my mum forbid me to use it anywhere but the kitchen. 1st time a friend and I used it we threw all the waste down the sink, not realising this was the one thing you were absolutely not supposed to do! we blocked that sucker for days. Let's not forget Cromium, the bull-headed terminator that... grew taller? they really ran out of ideas didn't they :)

I did have a giant... It was 12+ inches, Endoskeleton. He came with a giant plasma rifle with a button to play sounds. He was slightly larger than my GI Joes. I want to say I got him from Kaybee toys back in the day? Also had the 12" T2 3D Arnie which came with his shotgun and GL. Unfortunately you can't really display those out of the box these days because the fake leather just sheds everywhere.

Loved this line when it first hit, as I was obsessed with all things T2 at that time. I remember the first T-1000 (biker) and John Connor being terribly difficult to find in stores at first….I think I still a carded T-1000 that I got back in ‘91. 😅. Had the entire first series of figures from ‘91, vehicles and the bioflesh regenerator, too. From the 2nd wave, I had a repaint of the battle damaged T-800 (with a yellow tank top and weird camo pants 😂). Lost interest in the line by 1992 and whenever the Future War rebrand rolled around though. Great episode as always!

The only toys worth buying back then were the T-800 "Hyper-Alloy Combat Chassis" aka the Endoskeletons, and even then you'd have to buy an army of them plus some Colonial Marines from the Aliens line (then repaint them in different shades of olive drab and khaki) if you wanted to try to recreate the Battle of Los Angeles circa 2029 as accurately as possible given the lack of Hunter-Killer units in the Kenner toy line.

@@Pegwarmers Indeed. But I guess you could always kit-bash some G.I. Joe toys if you wanted some HKs for your battle scenarios....for example: take a 1987 G.I. Joe COBRA StingRay vehicle, add some model kit pieces, spray-paint it "Battleship Grey", and dispatch it into the battlefield to hunt down and "Terminate" human life forms.

the future wars arnold figure wherein you could swop the left arm and the head was great, but they should have made it in the biker leathers, not something he didn’t wear. The T 800 was cool, but wasn’t really in the movie. John Connor was a great addition to the line.

I had exploding T-1000 only because my friend at the time bought it for me...because he had a T-800 figure so now we could have our figures fight each other. He did this because somehow he had gotten in to see the movie, and loved it, even though he was only like eight years old in 1992. I wasn't allowed to see R rated movies yet because I was twelve that year, but there I was with an admittedly cool T-1000 figure that I had no idea what to do with. That Bio Flesh Generator did look awesome to me back then though, and the squishy pink putty used as the "flesh" was the same stuff that a dentist uses to make castings of peoples' teeth which means that you could still use that playset, all you would have to do is find more of that powdered dental putty. I didn't know that Universal had re-issued those piece of crap figures in their theme parks. Interesting...and kind of a waste of money...for both them and us.

Wasn't into Terminator 2 as a little boy (I'd find an appreciation for it when I got older), but my mom did get me the Bio-Flesh Reginerator out of the blue. Cool idea, but the toy was garbage. Was hard to use, made a mess, the mold only vaguely resembled the sculpted figure on the box, and the flesh came apart too easily. There was also no real playability because the figure had zero articulation. They resurrected the idea for Terminator: Salvation. Not sure if it worked any better or it was just the same thing.
