Change the AptX Adaptive settings from "low-latency mode" to "high-quality mode" (or whatever the other option is called). It seems like with many current devices, AptX Adaptive's "low-latency mode" actually has *higher* latency than the other alternative. It's strange, but there are also other YT reviewers that have found the same thing. Worth trying out!

Removing the headphone jack on phones is a shame...even sound quality...best 300$+ sound quality wireless earbuds are even not better than the 40$ legendary sony mdr xb50 wired earphones or 45$ classic Sennheiser momentum wired earphones...its also 2 times louder on wired and no latency

Great video man btw, when I use game mode sometimes it has micro cuts, like audio stutter, its not an audio quality problem,I have a Samsung galaxy j7 2016 yeah it's old!!, when game mode it's off it works great, can it be my phone that can't handdle game mode? samsung galaxy j7 2016 doesn't have Aptx, it only has SBC.

No no unfortunately I found out that the Redmi Airdots (of any model) can only use SBC But anyway AAC does not lower latency, only gives better SQ since there’s no need to convert files if the music are already in AAC (like streaming from Apple Music) though from Spotify, or youtube I think some conversion will happen, but it won’t be as compressed as ACC Noooonetheless, I never found any significant difference between SBC/AAC/AptX even when listening to average stuff like youtube/streaming services Alsoooo, thank you so much for the comment man, believe me I want to review more stuff in the future, not just TWS, I’ll keep giving it my all! 🔥

i love how honest and informative this video was .. what phone did you use? i wonder if you use it on different brands results may vary ps: i have both qcy t5 and airdots s and t5 definitely has lower latency on my android phone and webos tv .. on tv its almost lypsync when i play games.. its like youtube on phone .. but delay is pretty noticeable when playing on phone. also . both airdots and t5 has a buzzing noise in left (or right) when you play songs on very low volume .. but all things considered i'm very happy with t5

Is there any difference between Airdots S and the new Airdots 2? I bought the new Airdots 2 recently and I tested the latency in PUBG and CODM and there was a pretty huge amount of latency in the gunshots etc. Quite a terrible experience. Other than that music and video playback is okay.

Hi Ken, I am looking for headphones that are with 'stem' shape like HONOR Choice or Airpods. My main reason to wear them is music, podcasts and online work meetings. I already got a pair of gaming tws about $20 but it seems to have quiet noticable latency while playing mobe games like Arena of Valor or Wild Rift. I also found a really good review about KZ SKS tws for its latency and its sound quality for just about $35. Thanks alot for the advise btw!

Bluetooth latency bottleneck might be your test phone. Have you tried something else like recent Google Pixel or Galaxy S21 series that are known to have low bluetooth latency?

This video gave me an idea. I have a Soundpeats Sonic. Changed the codec to SBC in the developer options, and there's a noticeable decrease in latency compared to when it's on AptX Adaptive.

@@joaocarlosrms The 'Developer Options' is found on Android phones, but it is initially hidden. You need to tap something several times in the settings (depending on your phone model, but usually the build number or kernel version) to unlock it.

Good question! I'll see and test it out real quick when I have time, though I won't hold any breaths since aptX Adaptive is already one of the lowest latency codecs out there. Also the phone, I've said in the video a couple times right? It's a Redmi K20 Pro

If you want to have low latency on SoundPeats H1 go SBC and turn on Game Mode. The difference is radical. I don't have equipment to measure latency but in my perception it is lower than 100ms. When game mode is off it is about 300-400ms. I also made 16 bits per sample and 44kHz in developer settings. But don't know if it has any difference. I also don't hear any difference in aptx adaptive. So my conclusion is - gaming mode was optimized for SBC - not APTX.

Seems like sound delay is a fundamental problem with Bluetooth. Wireless gaming headphones for PC usually use a USB dongle as a wireless receiver. And none of my wireless gaming headphones have any delay issues. Wireless earbuds using Bluetooth however seem to always have delay while gaming.

It’s not a fundamental problem but more like physics 😁 information has to be processed, sent, received and of course there will be some latency to it. Even wired has some like 15ms latency, and maybe a dedicated dongle helps with this since things can be simplified, but honestly speaking, something like 150ms is already good enough for most use cases and you can get them cheaply in my best for gaming playlist in the channel 😁

Feel free to test aptx adaptive along with new miui 14 roms . Im using a miui 14 port on my normal k20 and it's way under 150ns for sure maybe 120 idk , you should test it again right now from the default Bluetooth settings we get a low latency mode which works at last!! For aptx adaptive only.

I would suggest using another weapon. Awm is slow shooting weapon, which give additional delay of sound.

My edifier x5 dont have delays on my laptop and my oppo a5s however it has delay on my infinix zero8.. I thinks its more on android support for aptx.. Checking in developer options in my infinix zero 8. My edifier that has aptx is always on sbc on my bluetooth audio codec

What was parameters of sound on iPhone? Also 24 bit 48kHz? Probably iPhone could have 16bit 44.1kHz and then will be a reason on bigger latency. Or please repeat a measure on 16bit and 44.1kHz.

Again I have to put emphasis that I do not have the tools to do such precise variable control, so this is the best I can do atm. Also, this doesn’t explain why AirDots S doesn’t perform the same despite using the same (what I’m assuming) 16bit 44.1kHz, I believe it’s more into the OS overhead?

@@namedkenn Well, I give you some comparisson. Samsung Galaxy S10e with stock cord headphones, audio information from PowerAmp: 24bit 192kHz - latency 361ms on output, 16bit 44,1kHz - latency 171 ms. Many things collect to summary latency ex: input parameters, output parameters, resampler quality, DSP effects, PCM quality, Bluetooth encoder/decoder. Parametrs in Developer option, what you show on 6:20: 24 bit and 48kHz, imho increase latency. You should change it on 16bit 44,1kHz, because Xiaomi Airdots certainly don't support higher parameters and they worked on them. Soundpeats H1 mayby support higher parametrs of sound, so higher parametrs cause bigger latency, even on aptX.

You can switch to sbc mode to lower the latency in developer option in the setting. Aptx is about quality, so you get 320 kbps (spotify high quality mp3 320) , so you'll get the best quality of the song from aptx tws.

First of all, let me explain the main types of aptX: the standard aptX, aptX HD, and aptX Adaptive (formerly aptX LL). While it’s true what you said that standard aptX focus more on quality, it doesn’t necessarily mean that latency is worse to SBC, in fact with aptX TWS, it does perform competitively (check out my AptX TWS video). Now aptX adaptive takes that further, it can focus on quality or low latency depending on the application, and at its best, it should’ve resulted in the lowest number (50-80ms) compared to aptX, AAC, or SBC. So as I’ve said in another comment, I kinda doubt that changing to SBC will improve the latency, but I’ll try and test it out when I got time anyway 😁 hope this clears up the situation, and have a good day!

According to Qualcomm the bluetooth chip needs to support aptx adaptive in both devices to have low latency. QCC3040 chip does not support aptx adaptive :(

In my case.. whenever i want to game, i need to active the gaming mode before i run pubg mobile..or else, if i turn the gaming mode in pubg mobile, still got delay... at least in my case this happen..not very sure about others....my phone honor 10, tws haylou gt1 gaming mode batch

Hey there! I know why your latency results are so bad for this round, it should be obvious, but it's because of the Mi 9T Pro you've got there. I also have that phone and it has worse latency on every TWS earbud I've tested, even compared to a Galaxy S8! I also have the Soundpeats Sonic which has QCC3040, and using that with my UGreen transmitter I get the actually proclaimed 1xx~ ms delay with game mode. Basically, *don't* rely on Xiaomi phones for latency tests, I have no clue if it's cheapo bluetooth chips they are using or they just have bad software but Xiaomi phones (through my expirience at least) all suffer from way worse latency compared to almost any other Android phone on the market. The lowest latency I've gotten from an Android phone came from OnePlus devices if you were to test this again. Hope this helps!

Hey, I was assuming the same thing happening, but this is the best I can do as I don’t have any other flagship Android other than this and Note 20 Ultra (which performs even worse to be seriously honest), I’m planning to save up for an ROG Phone for my future, more proper testing, but yeah, just sayin’, I still got a long way to go 🤣✌🏻 thanks for the comment tho!

@@namedkenn Whut I'm shook o_o Note 20 Ultra performs worse than the S8? Shouldn't be though... I'll try borrowing my friend's S20 and see if that's also as bad. I just tried the Sonics with my Oneplus 8 and can confirm game mode definitely drops the latency to about 100~ ms from 145~ ms without game mode. Best of luck with your videos man! Been watching since the Airdots vs Haylou GT1 days but never commented till now haha 🤣

Yeah, in my previous testing the Note 20 Ultra got worse numbers when compared to AptX TWS+ on K20 Pro, and mine’s the Exynos version, maybe yours is Snapdragon? Also, are you using the same method as I do to count the numbers? 😁 in any case I’ll be waiting for your update 🙏🏻 and super thanks for the support all the way back man!

@@namedkenn I use my camera and record my phone screen, yeet it in Sony Vegas and find the time where I'm supposed to click, then find out when the sound is actually heard, subtract the difference 👍 I am using a game called osu though, not PUBG... so maybe my numbers could be less due to that, but still 200ms is definitely not margin of error xD My S8 and my friend's S20 are both Exynos too sadly >w> Yeah, watching in comparison to those days the improvement in crazy, legit keep up the good work man!

@@namedkenn Soo I did the testing with my friend's S20 Exynos variant and the latency with the Sonics with game mode came back to about ~130ms 😅 Not sure what's going on with your Note 20 Ultra.. If you'd like I don't mind PM'ing you the video and testing method I used for my latency numbers

Maybe Redmi k20 Pro is the problem here hmm? Can it run game with steady FPS during test? Well I'll receice my H1 soon and will test it with my Rog Phone 2. If latency is this bad I will let soundpeats know. >:(

If you've been following my uploads I've tested some earbuds on the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra as well as a super cheap Redmi 5 Plus (just for fun xD) but the Redmi K20 Pro is still the better performer out of any Androids I've seen so far. Also, it runs games perfectly at whatever settings you put, this thing is still a beast now really, though I'm curious how the numbers will be on an ROG phone! And if the numbers are still in the 300ms, I don't think it's Soundpeats' fault... Just sayin', though you could ask them for explanations and internal numbers ✌🏻 honestly though, it's still a perfectly fine experience, though not superb as it is in my iPhone X

Okay I got my H1 now and I can't notice any lag ingame with PUBG. Now with True Air 2 there is very high game breaking latency noticed. These are my only two tws i have to compare and phone I'm using is ROG 2 phone.
