This song was written by Kenny Logins and Michael McDonald. Kenny’s father was very sick with heart disease and was afraid to have the surgery. Kenny played this song for his father to listen to which truly gave him hope. He had the surgery and lived 4 years ( I know this only to well from being a Critical Care Nurse working in Acute CCU and to many times my colleagues and myself have seen those with advanced heart disease “ like Kenny’s father “ happen to our patients and it’s heartbreaking to see and get to know them). A true song of inspiration and hope for anyone battling any disease. Thank you for sharing this video/ reaction song, I haven’t heard this in along time and truly cried thinking about what we have seen but also grateful to see people fight for their lives, Thank you, A New York CCRN❤️🎶🙏💔🎶🥰🙏♥️🔥

Yes that is definitely true about his father, Kenny Logins and Michael McDonald wrote this song and Kenny played it when his father had very bad heart disease and was afraid to undergo surgery. His father made the choice to go for surgery and lived 4 years ( which is a long time for a man with severe heart disease. I only know this because I am a Critical Care Nurse CCU . But it is a song of hope and inspiration to all .🙏♥️🎶💔🙏🎶❤️

Great Kenny Loggins tune -- I would always refer you to the beginning of his song career, in a more acoustic studio. His first album in 1971 with Jim Messina, Sittin' In, has some phenomenal works --- "Danny's Song", "House At Pooh Corner", and "Vahevella" were popular, but even the deeper tracks, like "Trilogy", "Back To Georgia", and "Nobody But You" were played alot on the radio. All are highly recommended!

Others have mentioned that he started out partnering with Jim Messina of Buffalo Springfield (and later Poco). One of my favorites for them together was 'Angry Eyes' which has a great performance video floating around KZfaq. Mentioning Messina's work with Poco reminds me that almost no one ever reacts to Poco - they were/are country-rock legends and their work was influential on that whole movement including the Eagles - both the Eagles' bassists and high harmony singers were former Poco members - Randy Meisner and Timothy B. Schmidt. If you look into Poco, I recommend 'Good Feelin' to Know', Magnolia, Crazy Eyes, Crazy Love - but they have dozens of great tunes. #nicknlexrequest

Glad you are checking out Kenny Logins! Check out the writing credits on ‘What a Fool Believes’. McDonald and Loggins co-wrote that song. During a live stream I recommended checking out ‘Loggins & Messina’, specifically ‘Angry Eyes’ #nicknlexrequest from the album ‘Sittin’ In’ When Loggins left Loggins & Messina he did much more commercial radio friendly music. Even soundtrack tunes like ‘Footloose’ from the movie that featured a young Kevin Bacon. ‘Loggins & Messina’ have been grouped together into the Yacht Rock category as Steely Dan, Christopher Cross and others. I saw KL in the 90’s at the Valley Forge Music Fair and in 2009 at the American Music Theater in 2009. Both were great concert performances, but all the while I was pining for the music of Loggins & Messina. Please do yourself a favor and check out Loggins & Messina starting with their first album ‘Sittin’ In’ with the song ‘Angry Eyes’.

I bought High adventure right away, I loved it. But with the soundtrack stuff, I was out. I bought one older album, Nightwatch, but that's all I got and also didn't listen to it anymore in the 90s. You should go back and check out Loggins & Messina albums - The first one is called Kenny Loggins with Jim Messina "Sittin' In". Jim had just left Poco (after Buffalo Springfield) and was the producer on this album but was encouraged to "Sit In' to help promote this unknown singer-songwriter (previously he'd had several songs on Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's "Uncle Charlie & His Dog Teddy" and the song "House at Pooh Corner became an moderate hit for that band). As it turned out the duo was such a hit that the pairing became a band and several hit album were the result. They are playing again this year for the first time in decades July 15th at the Hollywood Bowl! (They only played together since the group disbanded for charity concerts for the Santa Barbara area in 2005 and later that year for Hurricane Katrina relief - they did about 40 shows that year all for charity, and that was the last time until this year.) I saw them a few times between '72 & '76 and they were always excellent!

Michael Jackson's "Off the Wall" actually came out in 1979 and Michael died in 2009." Off the Wall" was Michael Jackson's first solo album away from the The Jackson 5(later on they were called The Jacksons). He had a couple solo albums while he was still with The Jackson 5 but he wasn't really a solo artist because he was still part of The Jackson 5 and the group contributed to those albums.

My top 3 all time male vocalists are Donald Fagen, Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins. I loved that MM did background vocals with the other two on so many amazing songs. For another nice surprise background on a Kenny Loggins tune check out ‘Who’s Right, Who’s Wrong’. Other awesome KL tunes I highly recommend are ‘Love Will Follow’ and with Jimmy Messina ‘Watching the River Run’, ‘Angry Eyes’ really the entire Sittin’ In album.

His best music was together with Jim Messina, just listen to the song Native Son, it's so beautiful. Their album 'Mother Lode' is their best, so many strong songs, listen to 'Move On' and you'll not be dissapointed.. Jim Messina's soloalbums are great as well. You both are Steeley Dan lovers so listen to 'Do you want to dance' from Jim Messina, it's also kind of laid back with jazzy influences and great guitar work.

This was a biggie very pop but a great arrangement and great singers. As a lot of people have mentioned Kenny Loggins did a lot of soundtracks in the 70s Caddyshack etc. But you should take a deep dive on his early work with Jim Messina. Of all those pieces my favorite is got to always be angry eyes. It’s got a great harmony great chorus and a very interesting instrumental section with a killer bass groove.

The Kenny Loggins / Michael McDonald collaboration started with What a Fool Believes. There are many of them. It's so cool you brought up Michael Jackson. He does some backing vocals three songs later on this album. Who's Right, Who's Wrong was cowritten by Loggins and Richard Page of Mr. Mister; Page and MJ both provide backup. It's a brilliant song, one of my all time favorites. And, you really do need to go back in time to the Loggins & Messina days. They were my first concert experience back in '74. What a great time. Also, Kenny's first solo album was Celebrate Me Home, produced by the giant of cool jazz, Bob James. Hit the title track on that, it is also a brilliant composition. And if you have any questions, contact me at oldfatandtired@gmail.com -- I'm a little bit of a Kenny expert. Not a creepy stalker fan, but informed enough to know that his first son is named after Bing Crosby. Love you kids! Peace! And carry on!

Listening to Kenny on a Radio Interview, he said that people think that this is an Ultimatum to a Girlfriend or Wife? It’s not! His father had Heart problems at the time and refused to do anything about it. He said he’d leave it in God’s hands. “If I’m not meant to live, than so be it!” This song is telling him, “This is it, your backs to the corner. @@TomCruise60081 Sorry, but the actual name of the song is "Heart to Heart". To answer your question, my mother used to play vinyl records growing up with Loggins and Messina records and I remember my father loving "This is it!" when it came on the radio. One thing is true though, when I was a child I really loved "Heart to Heart" but never knew the title of the song or who sang it until about 10 years ago I discovered finally when I heard it playing on a gas station and followed through to finally find out the 'who' and 'title' of that song. I immediately got the Kenny Loggins greatest hits volume and I have never stopped listening to that song. I love Loggins' ability to hit those high vocals and how the song changes its grove. Its a well written song and produced perfectly....I just love Michael McDonald's backup vocals on the track. It is one of the most under rated songs by Kenny Loggins. Loggins did write music in the 80's that are more widely known, but the radio played those songs so many times It just got watered down quite a bit. The radio did that a lot to a lot of 'pop hit songs' and I wish that they would have played records and let the listeners decide on what samples they like....it was nauseating to me to here the same song 10 times a day. The best Kenny Loggins album in my opinion is "Keep the Fire" and by far I believe it outsold all of his collections.

I've had the pleasure of seeing Kenny Loggins/Loggins&Messina/Blue Sky Riders many times. Some of my favs are not the big radio hits (although I like thoses too). The album Nightwatch is a good example. I LOVE it, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. His stint with Georgia Middleman and Gary Burr (aka the Blue Sky Riders) was very enjoyable, though they never made it big 'cause they couldn't be pigeonholed into any particular genre. Also, check out the DVD set of his two-night performance in Chicago at WTTW’s Soundstage Studio. A great show exhibiting his past and current hits at the time from all three phases of his career. I had the pleasure of being there. Unforgettable. Kenny has a new memoir coming out mid June/2022. Should be interesting.

Written by Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald. They also wrote What a Fool Believes. Correct! MM does appear here. He is in other hits in the 1970s and 1980s. Produced by David Foster. How about going to the David Foster rabbit 🐇 hole?! 🕳 He wrote a song for Earth Wind and Fire 🔥 Suggested songs 🎵 1 Kenny Loggins and Steve Perry sing Don't Fight It 2 Toto performs I'll Be Over You.

Glad to see all the love for Loggins & Messina in the comments, they have been sadly ignored by most of the reaction community. And they are right up your alley Nick & Lex. Sold millions of records in the '70's you will love them and I recommend starting with "Angry Eyes" which for me is the essence of L&M. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e5miaatqzM7Xg5s.html

By far, the best song by Loggins & Messina has to be "Be Free", a bit of a hippie anthem, and one that not only showcases Jim Messina's mandolin, it also showcases his callipygian fundament. :) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iK-RetGazN3Teqs.html I sent you "Celebrate Me Home" already, when you came back from Portland. Second best. "This is it" also among their very best. There were many songs with "it" in the title at the time, and I often wondered if it had something to do with the birth of Information Technology. Moreso with Gabriel. Anyway, the concert tape is from '76. Enjoy. There is another version of "Be Free" with scenes from the John Muir Wildlife Preserve.

I had to give a thumbs up just for the intro. I know it's going to be good. Now that I've watched it, I did enjoy the reaction, but I thought sure the thing Lex was going to reveal was not Micheal MacDonald's involvement, but I thought she was going to go into the emotional backstory to the song. Kenny wrote this song when his Dad was in the hospital after a heart attack and his father was depressed and ready to give up, and Kenny wrote the song to encourage his Dad to fight and not give up. Now that my own Dad has passed, this song always makes me cry.

So sorry for your loss ❤️We didn't know the backstory of the song. Honestly we never look up anything before reacting because it might take the attention of the instruments. We usually read the lyrics right after the video. I often cry to music and it's a bit embarrassing but I can't help.it. crying is very good.for your soul and it's like taking a cold shower. Thanks for letting us know about the true meaning about the song 🙏

@NicknLex Rarely do I find live versions of songs that are as good as the studio recording, but the live performance by Kenny Loggins of “This Is It” on his concert dvd “Outside: From The Redwoods” is one that is just as good, maybe even better. The entire dvd is phenomenal for that matter, especially the sound which is Dolby Digital Surround. You already reacted to the studio version, here’s the live one for you to enjoy! 🙂 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rdSCq5mUzN3RqX0.html
