Lyrics:
Does anything last forever
I don't know
Maybe we're near the end
(So darlin' tell me)
So darlin', oh
How can we go on together
Now that we've grown apart, oh no
Well, the only way to start
Is heart to heart

You ain't crazy I ain't gonna lie anymore What you're feelin' There's a reason for I wanna do right Oh, gotta do right Do I love you? Oh, you know I've tried But what you're after You can't find in my eyes I'm gonna do right Darlin' Tell the truth Don't turn away This is our last chance To touch each other's heart Does anything last forever? I don't know Maybe we're near the end (So, darlin', tell me) So, darlin', oh How can we go on together Now that we've grown apart Well, the only way to start Is heart to heart One by one We're collecting lies When you can't give love You give alibis Now I'm gonna do right This time I got to do right I don't wanna leave I don't wanna say goodbye Sooner or later, honey There comes a time Mama, when you gotta do right Come on, come on Darlin' Tell the truth Don't turn away From this one last chance Touch each other's heart Does anything last forever? I don't know Maybe we're near the end (So, darlin', tell me) So, darlin', oh How can we go on together Now that we've grown apart Well, the only way to start Is heart to heart Why are you so torn apart? I need a little more loving in my heart People say that love will grow So how was I to know Love that's come through years and years Can't find a way back home Anymore Darlin' Tell me the truth Don't turn away This is our final chance To touch each other's heart Does anything last forever? I don't know Maybe we're near the end (So, darlin', tell me) So, darlin', oh How can we go on together Now that we've grown apart Well, the only way to start Is heart to heart Does anything last forever? I don't know But maybe we're near the end (So, darlin', tell me) So, darlin', oh How can we go on together Now that we've grown apart Well, the only way to start Is heart to heart I know Well, the only way to start This time is heart to heart

That's how to write a song!!! Kenny is so good at marrying harmony/melody/lyrics and RHYTHM! Not to mention the terrific bass chart. Infectious in the best way. The whole production is just jam packed with the best in the business at the peak of the record industry. A+++ for Kenny AND Michael. Killed it together guys!

How was Kenny Loggins not more relevant in the late 70s and 80s? Dude had the package...talent and looks.

Not sure what you mean by "more relevant". Kenny had a huge career in the late 70's and 80's, even bigger than he had with Loggins & Messina. He had all those hits from the movies like Footloose, Top Gun, Caddy Shack, Caddy Shack II, etc. and that was in addition to his individual hits like Forever, Heart to Heart, Don't Fight It (with Steve Perry), and so on.

Yacht Rock is just R&B slowed down and mellowed out. You can hear the same organ sections, keys, saxophone parts, gospel arrangements, and layering. It’s just a way to say it’s original without giving proper credit

From the first time when I was 10, till the most recent, which was today at age 52, this song still gives me chills every time that I listen to it. The storyline and emotion in Kenny's voice are so gripping. This has always been my favorite Kenny Loggins song and honestly, one of my overall faves of all time! I am thrilled to see that my beloved Kenny will be coming to Florida for one stop in Clearwater, which thank you, Lord, is doable from where I live. So God willing...I will be there!
