Me and my friends watched Kenobi but got absolutely sick of seeing the goddamn shaky cam in every shot.
I don't know if the camera op has parkinsons or if they thought they were shooting taken 4 but I tried my best to fix it.
This took no effort really but I'd appreciate a subscribe for our other funny vids.

It dosen't fit. I imagine myself to be an invicible bystander of the fight. The shaky cam destroys this illusion by trying to place me in first person when I am not.

Agree with you, mate. For me, shaky cam would be good in a fight scene only if it's used in powerful hits or a final blow to make the audience feel the power of the attack. For example, Superman vs General Zod in Man of Steel. The camera was shaking only when they landed a powerful punch. Shaky cam on every hit during a fight makes my eyes exhausted.

it's up to Deborah. the direction is awful. the cameraman is one of the best in the world. he filmed old boy and is the reason why there are such great one shots in film history (because of old boy). only last year he has again carved out a masterpiece. But he also said that he is only as good as the direction allows him to be. and now look at how good the camera work is in the first scene. and it wasn't deborah who was directing

@@BigJumpsFilms Same with the OT, people have been tricked by the Bourne films into thinking something isn't "real", "gritty" or "emotional" unless it looks like found footage y'know. I'm not gonna say the cinematographers made the wrong choice, they did this because they wanted it to look that way and it's entirely up to them. I disagree with your last sentence. Just because a few scenes didn't work doesn't mean they all didn't. And I find them doing much better on the animated side of things, such as with Rebels, The Bad Batch and especially Tales of the Jedi that's coming out, anyways. See The Mandalorian for instance. It's a mostly great, nearly unanimously beloved Star Wars show from Disney. Rogue One was fantastic too! And Kenobi has had a ton of success overall as well. Not everything worked about it, but so much did and the ending couldn't be more perfect. That show broke viewing records throughout it's entire run man. It was great. I agree it could've been even better, but nothing is perfect anyways.

Lol, for me, the best lightsaber fight is still Maul v. Ahsoka in TCW series finale arc. But this fight was really good too! It was more than just the fighting in this one. The bond they shared, or once shared, the dialogue, the history and legacy and impact of these great characters and so many parallels all went into making this easily one of the best duels in SW ever, by far. But even the fighting was really well done as well. I wished they had gotten Nick Gillard back to do it, just like how he choreographed all the amazing PT fights, but this was so well done regardless. If you watch through many KZfaq shorts videos on the Bombastic Clips KZfaq channel, it might help you understand and appreciate the fight a whole lot more, but I'll try my best to sum it up down here if you don't want to find those specific shorts and watch through them. But I HIGHLY recommend you do, he goes into better detail, while showing the exact scenes he's talking about!! There's a LOT to unpack about this incredible final confrontation, so here I go.... So one exceptional thing about the fight was the fact that Obi-Wan sliced a portion of Vader's helmet off. While that was so very epic, it was also very much a parallel, if you remember the fight between Ahsoka and Vader. Both sides of the helmet were sliced off by both Kenobi and Tano, indicating that neither of them were able to get through to Vader and bring him back into the light as Anakin once again. Only his own flesh and blood son, Luke, was able to in the end of ROTJ. And that's signified when Luke takes the entirety of Vader's helmet off, revealing his whole face, of course. And another is the powerful and emotional dialogue between Anakin and Obi-Wan during that finale fight. Though I wished it was a bit more fleshed out, it still echoed their beautiful history and legacy together in both the PT and TCW. Not to mention all the ATOC flashbacks coinciding with the fight in the present day, showing just how much Anakin is STILL the learner, until ANH. So it makes that line in ANH make that much more sense and feel more coherent as a whole. The rocks being Force pulled off the ground all at once is yet another powerful analogy, but this time with Rey. Goes to show that no matter how tough things get and how intense things are, you can still pull through in the end if you muster all your courage, bravery and strength together to eventually win the day and help your friends out as a result. Of course the iconic lightsaber wielding stance, from ROTS and throughout TCW, that Obi-Wan makes in the finale fight and even the familiar line, "I will do what I must" all beautifully comes back around in this show, just further showcasing that Obi-Wan from the Clone Wars is officially back and is ready to go once again! Like poetry, it rhymes. And just all the raw fighting between them man. Vader literally punching Obi-Wan. All the raw lightsaber strikes and deflects, dirty, nasty fighting against the rocks, crashing through all the rocks, the really intense attempts at trying to cut each other's throats, stabbing at each other, all the force pushing, the insane and SAVAGE lightsaber STAB at Vader's own robotic CHEST, the epic and raw slicing across Vader's back as he attempts to frantically lunge at Obi-Wan before finally being brought down to his knees, the raw and emotional "OBI-WAN!!" yell at the end (which you can perfectly link up with Maul's "KENOBI!!" in Rebels too, btw, and so, soo much more to unpack and nerd over!! Alright, whew. So...I tried my best here, as you can probably tell! Lol. Again, I highly recommend you check out Bombastic Clips (and even EcksClips too!!). They helped me understand and appreciate a fight (and the show in general!) I had already immensely loved to begin with. Hope they do the same for you, but if not it's all good bro. We all got our own opinions and POVs on this galaxy far, far away! ;)

I was literally talking to my father not even a few weeks ago when reminiscing about this fight. The thing that made the old fights so special was not only the vigorous fight choreography and the amazing amount of work that went into each one, but the steady cameras and minimum takes in the heat of the moment that could let us see all of the action. Shaking the camera can help provide impact and make a scene feel more explosive and powerful, like when Obi Wan clobbered Vader with those rocks, but things like the clashes and the actual fighting didn't need any. Maybe minimum camera shake with Obi-Wan slamming his saber into Vader's life support, but that's all I'd do.

Great work! There are many parts of this show i enjoyed, the incessant shaky cam was not one of them. One particularly nausea inducing scene was when they're planning Leias rescue from the inquisitors, they're literally just standing around a table chatting, but you feel like you're 8 tequila shots deep into a Friday night because the camera man surely must've been.

Imma be honest with you…this doesn’t look edited at all 😂 ITS SO GOOD! I understand camera shake can increase intensity, but for fight scene it’s so much more harder cause they’re moving a lot more and it also ruins the beautiful choreography especially when they do it right and know how to choreograph greatly like Ewan and Hayden. It’s bad to the point you question what’s going on during the fight at times. The chore is good, but the camera movements made me think…eh? Revenge of the Sith hardly had any camera shake for intensity and ITS HELLA INTENSE! I love this fight scene! Even looking at Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Donnie Yen, Hong Kong films where they’re popular for wide shots, one shots, choreography, and rarely any camera shake. It brings intensity AND entertainment. Recent good American one is Shang-Chi, which Jackie’s stunt team helped on. I’m all about “Camera tells a story on its own”, but it’s to the point where nowadays fight scenes are getting ruined by “creative decisions” on cameras. It helps to hide if the actor is “bad” at choreo, but if they’re good? Why ruin it.

I was considering making a whole video talking about the importance of camera motion and when to have a static shot and when to have a handheld shot, and how kenobi throws that complexity out the window and puts super fake camera shake on VFX shots, probably because the director said the shot was 'boring' without camera motion and made the VFX people do it. One thing I do agree that the shakiness on Kenobi needed to be calmed down a bit - closer to the Mustafar fight but with some unique angles, they went way too hard in some areas of the duels in Kenobi.

God bless you sir. Now please do the whole series for me so I can watch it without getting car sick (and super f-ing pissed off at why shaky cam was done even on thier wide shots).

The excessive handheld/camera shake and the distinct lack of any thoughtful shot blocking in this series is so weird, especially considering Deborah Chow's previous works didn't have these issues at all. Really makes me think that this series was shot and edited in a hurry. Good work!
