Citing egregious examples of police and prosecutorial misconduct, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has exonerated longtime death row inmate Kerry Max Cook who was unjustly convicted of killing an East Texas woman in 1977. FOX 26's Greg Groogan has the details and reactions from a fellow prisoner on "death row."

@@andrewbowen6875 the word "corruption" assumes the prosecutor TEAM and D.A. gained something. Their motivation was what was wrong: % of convictions was their concern, NOT whether the evidence was strong enough or even if the guy MIGHT be innocent. They weren't concerned with innocence: their focus was on THEMSELVES and THEIR rep. in a Freedom Fry State: promotions coming for being tough on crime.

The best years of his life were stolen from him! Some prosecutors are in a hurry to close files and go so far as to conceal important elements that could exonerate a person! In this case the prosecutor should face justice and be thrown in prison!

It is extremely rare that anyone is punished for prosecutorial misconduct. In this case they are possibly dead but I'm sure they would swear it was a good case.

I wonder how many people commenting supports this man's exoneration, yet the very next story about someone being murdered, will sheep bleat that the accused should get the death penalty. 🤔🤔🤔 Such people are another example of what's wrong with society.

Wow. I changed my stance on the death penalty years ago because of examples just like this. Our justice system is still a government entity. Government cannot get it right 100% of the time. Life in prison - or 10, 20, 30 or 47 years - is bad enough for innocent people. NO ONE should ever be put to death if they're innocent. I believe in an eye for an eye, but not when mistakes can be made, and obviously, they can.

This is the one and only reason why I am anti-death penalty. You can not bring back the dead, but you can release the innocent.

The prosecutors put this innocent man in prison for several decades, only so the prosecutors can put another notch on their belts:those assholes, meanwhile the real murderer was on the loose living life thanks to those prosecutors freaking corruption. Why don’t those prosecutors get prosecuted for misconduct and put in prison so they could see how it feels to be wrongfully accused.

Letting a criminal go unpunished is awful but punishing & incarcerating an innocent man is 1,000 times worse. Our legal system is decent but it could be better. It’s not infallible like many like to think & it’s been poisoned by ideology & politics now which is beyond alarming & troubling. You cannot give an innocent person back their time nor the costs, opportunity costs, etc. one of the most vile things is prosecutors continuing to fight against letting the wrongly convicted get out easily after being exonerated. No monetary compensation for lost time will rectify the injustice of wrongly sending an innocent person to jail. We need to do better.

The justice system nation-wide should definitely make it a priority to look into ALL death row cases that were filed BEFORE the invention and introduction of DNA testing. Start there. Congratulations to both Mr. Graves and Mr. Cook. May your new lives be filled with joy and happiness you’ve always deserved. 🙏🙏🙏
