Was told by my cardiologist and GI doctor that "Keto/Low Carb is bad for you. You need to stop that or you'll get sick". So I stopped LCHF back in February. Weight immediately went up. FSBS went up. Got placed on CGM. Got placed on Metformin. Another BP med added. Joints ache. Heartburn back. Having a hard time even walking on treadmill. Not sleeping. As of today, I'm going back to Keto. Experiment over.

Errata/corrections/clarifications: 1) The Women's Health Initiative study had 48,000 women (not 28,000). 2) Dr. Sarah Hallberg and Virta Health did their diabetes reversal study at Indiana University (not Purdue). 3) The Indiana Jones reference was The Last Crusade, and the holy grail knight said: "You have chosen...wisely!" My Doc didn't even tell me to lose weight when I had high blood pressure. He prescribed a medication and didn't even tell me that changing my diet would do the same thing .I went low carb and no sugar , with weight loss and my blood pressure gradually normalised .I think Doctors should have to , at least, explain that medications are only one way of improving metabolic conditions .

I changed to low carb because I was diagnosed with diabetes in Oct 2021. After only 2 months on low carb I had to reduce my BP drug by half. Another 2 months later I again had to reduce it by half. So I've gone from 10mg down to 2.5mg, which I have decided to stay on because I have back issues which cause almost permanent low grade discomfort which I think is causing my BP to be a bit higher than normal. And the diabetes was remitted in only 3 months.!!! My waist measurement went from 44" to 37" and I lost weight without even trying. And I am no longer a slave to food.

Until I mentioned nutrient dense whole foods with a focus and low/no carb and focusing on protein and fat. She lost interest after that. She’s gonna add more drugs and fail in her health. We didn’t talk really but what he presents here-evidence based!!-and his lectures are vital to understanding what is happening to everyone. 50% or more of us in the USA are obese. I delved into this in 2015 becfause I just didn’t understand why I couldnt lose that last 15lbs after YEARS of exercising. I ate high carbs low fat. This is so important . I know many trim athletic peole who are getting prediabetic as well.

I have been doing a lot of research and I have decided to not do it the way I was doing it. Reading his books and if you want to loose fat/weight don't add a lot of additional fat. Omit cheese/nuts and know your trigger foods. I am looking forward to completing the induction program as many times as I need then to the next phase and lifetime maintenance.

Thank you for all your work Dr Westman. I did come to keto through your video explaining keto diet in your clinic. With that knowledge I was able to reach 5 family members in definite need of this info. I had them all watch it. All of us achieved amazing 30-110 pound weight loss results. Unfortunately most of us returned to old ways of eating and slowly gained back most if not all the weight. However, like in AA - once the malady is revealed you can’t not know it! 🤔 I am happy to report that myself and all the family members have picked themselves back up and are making their way to a much healthier way of eating and lifestyle again based on a low carb diet👍

It took me a good 6 months to get back up to 112 which is my "normal" weight. If I eat to much fat I have bowel issues. I have increased my carbs but I'm not getting anywhere with my health issues that led me to this. I was just looking for guidance eating low carb. I can't say this way of eating has really helped health wise but I will never go back to the standard american diet. let's just make a good Longitudinal research on the diet. I think this is the way to stop people from jumping into the CARB river. 10x for the video!

I disagree slightly about what “fixes” The health conditions you mentioned. I think it’s the SAD diet that caused the problem with pre diabetes/T2/insulin resistance and those are the conditions that caused the weight problem. The weight gain, in my understanding, is a symptom. You lose weight because you’re fixing the insulin problem, you’re not fixing the insulin problem by losing weight.

Yes and No. For some, no matter the source, carbs “have become” the problem to deal with. For others, not so.

Talking about the argument of it being sustainable. They then talk about what people “should do” for healthy eating clearly that is NOT sustainable and all you have to do is look at people in the grocery store! This way of eating saved my life!!!
