It’s the same for someone from the PNW. Most northwesterners I know are more laid back outdoorsy types (maybe that’s why coffee is so big here). New Yorkers have a totally different energy.

I want the KTG Sky Piece in a fairly dark blue. The blue that Stetson calls (true blue)in their Stratoliner. It looks to be a different blue than they put out in the Open Road. If Kevin does only a real light blue, I would do that, but would prefer something darker. The thought of getting a hat From Kevin makes me very happy. 🤠

Sure, that could be done at any height you wanted, low, ,medium or high..except it will be shipped directly from the factory, so I can’t get it first. You might be able to have one hat done in a pork pie crown from the factory. If that’s what you really want, I can ask about getting one done that way.

I see a hole in the hat market, not enough funky newsboy caps to choose from. Also what's with the plastic liners in most newsboy cap? They always call it satin... but I just call it plastic because it seems like a much more honest description
@quadrogong11115 ай бұрын
There’s a lot of brands if you search hard enough, join the Facebook group and ask the moderator Dave stott, he knows like 6-8 really great brands, There’s a lot of them out there.. trust me on that, as far as the linings, they choose materials that are not absorbent on purpose. They could use cotton, it’s not expensive. They choose to use things like viscose and polyester satins because those materials are not absorbent… so basically, when your perspiration hits it, it doesn’t leak through the cap and make sweaty stains for everyone to see. That would make the life of the cap much shorter,and just look bad. In the same respect, if rain or snow piles on top of the wool,and starts to permeate through to the inside, the non absorbent liner prevents it from leaking through as quickly..while a cotton lining would act like a sponge, and soak up rain. Anyone who wears those unlined wool kangols knows about that, they soak up rain and snow like a sponge, stay wet, and then freeze on your head. Those linings may be cheap, but they’re useful.

Check out some of the estonian Wigens flatcaps and newsboys. Most of the liners in ones I wore in the past were Satin or even silk mesh.

Hey Kevin, love your videos! Can you cover moth prevention? I just found a few moth bites on a pretty new Akubra. Now it's in the freezer for a few days!
@quadrogong11115 ай бұрын
First, you need to brush the whole hat and steam it if you have that too.. the entire surface of its try to avoid the sweatband and leather hat band w steam. If you can, take out the lining, steam it too. You want to kill any organism or eggs that might be there. The freezer is ok, not for the leather band, but it’ll probably be ok. After that, I’d try to vacuum around the area, and the room too. You need to buy good quality essential oils ..peppermint oil, and lavender oil. There’s food grade, all sorts of grades.. buy something that looks legit, Buy a nice vial of each, whatever you can afford, they’re expensive, I buy a bottle of each,and I pour them into a pump style spray bottle. Old windex bottle, whatever.. dump it all in there, it’s pricey but worth it. Then fill it up with water and leave a couple of inches of space at the top. Add a few drops of isopropyl alcohol, maybe 5 drops, as a preservative. Use this stuff to clean the walls of your closet, the molding on the floor near it, the floor..use it as a gentle cleaner and duster,around where you store your hats. Then get a kitchen sponge and but it on half, soak both halves in the solution, and wrap each one up in a thin cloth, like a bandana, part of an old t shirt, or even out it in an old sock, and tie it in a knot. Make little sachets out of this stuff and hide one on each side of your closet right where your hats are stored. Or cut it into four smaller pieces, and make mini sachets that go right inside your hat boxes. Any kind of thin cloth is best. The absolute best thing to use are old, threadbare t shirts that are worn out. Get a knife and cut a square, and use that. Cedar planks and chips don’t work, you’ll need strong cedar oil. Which doesn’t smell as pleasant as this blend. And bigs hate them both, The more you keep that odor around, the better. Spray it now and then for cleaning..just spray it..reload your sachets’ sponges now and then,whenever you remember to.. it’ll work, and it smells way better than camphor, cedar oil .. It’s not an unpleasant smell, it’s actually quite a delicious smelling odor. My customers used to ask me how they can buy some. You can use the spray bottle itself to dust whenever you have a dirty corner or baseboard. You can just spray it right into the air..
