YMCA does stand for Young Men's Christian Association. It is a gym, but they also used to offer inexpensive/free rooms for the homeless, drug rehab, and meals as a way to get young men back on their feet. Until 2020 it was legal to discriminate against LGBTQ folks when renting housing, so historically there is a high instance of homeless gay people. This is why the YMCA became popular with gay people, and The Village People wrote a song about it in 1978.

YMCA was “adopted” by the LGBT community (then just called the “gay” community) because of it tells a familiar story. Many young gay men were disowned and ostracized by their families because of religious and social views on homosexuality. The YMCA was a recreation center as well as a shelter. A safe haven. These young guys could go there instead of sleeping on the streets. As the song says “you can get yourself clean, you can have a good meal…” It is literally talking about taking a shower and eating for the first time in forever. It wasn’t about anything sexual or dirty; it’s about safety, freedom, and happiness-even if it is temporary.

The skit really is not making jokes at the gay community's expense. The skit is a comedic look at the ignorance of homophobic people. They could've replaced gay theme with damned near any other community that's misunderstood and stereotyped and it would still work. So I doubt you have to worry about being canceled.
