A rare memory for me ...
I first saw this on a light day in History Class at my High School ... probably around 1987. My friends and I had a blast playing out some of these different characters (or was that mostly me).
Anyhoo...It's rare...WAY out of print... and now it's on KZfaq at the best quality a composite video connection will muster on an old VCR. :-)
I wish you lots of laughs.

I remember the death of the great Jim Varney like it was yesterday. I think because I grew up with E goes to camp, Jail, Saves Christmas, Scared Stupid, etc. and cherished each movie in its own way, his death literally became a memory that I see in exact detail. . .like where I was when Kurt Cobain was killed, or when the 9/11 insanity took place. I pulled over on my way to work as it came over the radio that he had died, and sat on the side of the highway thinking of how much his work had meant to me as a child. It was harmless. Decent. Southern. and therefore get's mocked by those who don't get it, but is adored by those smart enough to enjoy the stupidity of Ernest. We miss you Jim.

My dad, I called him "Daddy-O", was into all this old stuff. He had all the Ernest DVD's he could find and even raised me and my sister on it. It was great, and still is. We lost him on March 13 to lung/liver cancer. He was a great man of God, and I will always love him not only for raising me and my sister on this, but his great personality and content of character.

I watched Ernest Goes To Jail today with my 7 year old and after it was over he asked if there were any recent Ernest movies. I had to tell him that the guy playing him died 20 years ago and he began to cry...broke my heart. Just shows you the power of just how awesome this character was/is. I’ve been on an Ernest binge all day now.

My whole family loved him and when I was 10, We got another Ernest pack with Ernest in the Army, Ernest Goes to Africa, and Ernest Goes to School. A couple months after, I got a whole season pack of a Ernest tv show called Hey Vern, Its Ernest. I have just recently seen Slam Dunk Ernest and Ernest Rides Again. I love Ernest so much. When Varney did the old man in the cabin it reminded me of Karl from Sling Blade with Billy Bob Thornton. I'm not saying Billy Bob stole his voice or anything like that but it's just like King Solomon said "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun." Jim Varney was outstanding! I saw a clip with him and Robin Williams and they were going toe-to-toe with the improvs.

I haven't been able to eat spaghetti without laughing my ass off for years now. "You want...spaghetti!" is the funniest line he ever did. God, he was great.

The Worrell family certainly is weird. Especially when one considers the differences between Rich Worrell and his two sons, Pop and Lloyd. But at least, they aren't boring.
