Yes you refered to Deuteronomy 18:18. Did you however read the verses that follows? Specifically read verse 20. If the prophet speaks something which was not from God, he should be killed. Now what then about the satanic verses?

All you need say is, I testify that there is nothing worthy of worship but Allah and Muhammad (peace be upon him) is Allah's servant and messenger. With these, you are a Muslim. Thereafter, you seek out the imam at your local masjid (mosque) and he will teach you the tenets and practices.

Deut 18: 18 " I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words in his mouth. He will tell them everything I command him." God is speaking to the Israelites, and He said, I will raise up a prophet like you among the Israelites, meaning he must be an Israelites and not an arab. Prophet Muhammad is an arab. Also read Acts 3: 22 " For Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you." Notice the word from among your own people, meaning the Israelites, and not an Arab. From among their brethren means same tribe or same race as them. And that prophet is Jesus Christ. And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:(Luke 24:19 KJV) Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.(John 6:14 KJV)
