When I was working in Chamarajanagar in 1979-80 during daily train travel we came across three different classes of Meter Gauge engines, YG, YP and YL. Then my colleague whose father had worked as railway engine driver, was not able to explain me the difference between the three. He just told me the difference in wheel configuration. I understood the difference much later after browsing the internet. We need knowledgeable people like Khan to get perfect explanation on technical aspects. Thanks for the useful VLogs.. May your tribe increase.

10:03 The number also refer to the engine's horsepower. Like WDP4 - (Wide/Broad Gauge Diesel Passenger 4000HP) Locomotive. WDP4B - (Wide/Broad Gauge Diesel Passenger 4500HP {B - Blended Brake System}) WDP4D - (Wide/Broad Gauge Diesel Passenger 4500HP {D - Dual Cab}) I hope i made some doubts clear.

@The Railfan No, the horsepower is constant in WDP4B and 4D i.e 4500hp. The alphabets in EMD doesn't refer to additional horsepower, 'D' is for Dual Cab. Those alphabets are used as additional horsepowers only in Alco and DC/AC locomotives.

चरण स्पर्श गुरू जी। आपने बिल्कुल सही कहा बचपन मे मै सच में सोचता था कि चुंबक से कोच चिपके रहते है लेकिन जब 1998 मे पहली बार ट्रेन की सवरी की तो इसका उत्तर देखते ही समझ गया था। आपने दूसरी बात भी बिल्कुल सही कहा कि ट्रेन इतनी तेज चलते हुए भी दो लोहे के मोटे छडों पर कैसे घूम जाती है वो भी बिन स्टियरिंग के।

In India it is not possible to compare. Actually both (diesel & electric) are electric locomotives. Both generate 24000 volts (initially) which provides the torque to start the traction motors.

One of my dream job was to become an alp in aindian railway.... I tried my best for it also....Cleared all three stages of my alp exam... But missed it by 1.5 marks in final merit list from ranchi zone.... When I was going through this video it's makes me feel that I am taking training aftr joining.😊.... Thanku so much sir...
