KHMER PAGODA: Wat Preah Prom Rath

In this video we visit the best and most well looked after Pagoda in Siem Reap, the Wat Preah Prom Rath Pagoda situated on the banks of the Siem Reap river. The pagoda is by far the best we have visited here in the city and we were blown away! There are many paintings and statues to be seen and you can expect the spend close to an hour walking around the grounds. There are writings about the Pagoda in both Khmer (the local language) and English. The pagoda was built in the 1500's and has a pretty neat story to why it was built.

Spent much time relaxing at that temple during the two months I stayed in Siem Reap in 2017. But also spent time at many other temples in Siem Reap…..(and also Angkor Wat Archeological Park) Returning this year. (From Canada). Those first statues….Siddhartha going for a ride outside his father’s palace…. He sees four things he had never seen before. An old man……a sick man……a dead man…..and a meditating man in peace. He realized that he, and everyone will have the same fate to grow old, get sick, and die. That life is suffering…..dissatisfaction, and even when we have pleasures…..the pleasures are only temporary and soon ended. And life itself will come to an end. It was those sights that led him to leave, and search for the solution to suffering. They are not representations of a Buddhist hell. Namo Buddhaya 🙏🏼 ☸️
