Oh do I owe You an apology for such a delayed reply which I will be getting to. Had to leave a comment here > this 1 is near & dear hitting close to home as I have a "Liberated" dog from a Taiwan meat mrkt via a US West Coast Rescue (Love & Second Chances) > I've spent several yrs volunteering for various non profit K9 Rescue Orgs & Initiatives in Nor Cal. This World sure could use as many Josette's as possible. Good stuff Julia.... thanks for helping to raise awareness🙏

LOVE this comment!!! THANK you for saving your sweet dog from the horrific dog meat market. A local friend of mine had her dog snatched by the Vietnamese once... and luckily caught them in time. The meat market is still very real and horrific.

@@juliahaw > will find ya on Twitter (think you're there) & add a few pix > have 2 Rescues but the other (Calvin) is a domestic stray & from another Rescue > Keepa is from Taiwan....a Formosan Mountain Dog.... sounds big but He's only about 20lb's > came over shell shocked from the whole ordeal at around 1 yo > he's really come a looong way ....both literally & figuratively

I love animals, and I love hearing stories like this. Well done Julia, very interesing and enjoyable video. I rescued 2 cats from a shelter, they had been abused I don't know the details but finally after 2 years they are now happy little souls.

Also, I'm so happy to hear your little kitties are from a shelter.. poor little souls for having endured abuse. :( I'm glad to hear they're safe and happy! When my partner and I split, I had to say goodbye to the kitty we rescued together. It was abandoned at two weeks by its own mother. I think about her every day. xo

@@juliahaw I'm coming to Cambodia mid-Nov for a holiday. Now thanks to your video I will visit the Pagoda Cats and Dogs and help with a donation. My hubby and I have said goodbye to 4 dogs and too many cats to count when they unzipped their earth suits. It truly is heart breaking 😞

@@busibarbie I hear you and acknowledge your pain. I lost many pets over the years... one, a cat I had for over a decade -- I had to re-home him with a friend, but he was a Russian blue cat that lived for 18 years!! (unbelievable!) He had 6 toes. I also recently separated from my partner, and we shared a rescued abandoned cat together... it was literally heartbreaking to leave her. I'm so glad you will visit the pagoda. That warms my heart!!!! That is the purpose of this video!! To bridge people like you with people like Josette and the monk. You will LOVE it. Thanks for watching. :)

Thank you very much for the video. I'm very much a dog person and have 2 Miniature Schnauzers myself. Will be coming to Cambodia next month leaving the 3rd and arriving the 5th. Plan on staying a few days with my girlfriend in Phnom Penh and then coming to visit Siem Reap. Maybe will try to go visit the Pagoda cats and Dogs while I am there for my few days..... Maybe even try to catch up with you if possible.....Take care.

@@juliahaw I will be in Cambodia for about 3 weeks. Plan on visiting Siem Reap for about 5 days or so... I am hoping that the Water Festival will be going on when I come to visit.

This question makes me feel like I should do a video just to answer it. ;). I am adjusting very well. I love my neighborhood so much.. I was just talking to my local bodega guy tonight as I bought a couple bottles of water for my morning coffee. He was helping me practice my Khmer. Lesson One is completed at the Speak Like Khmer school and I'm excited to keep learning the language!
