It’s actually amazing, shockingly good value if everything is as good as you describe. I have been riding scooters for ten years and I am looking to buy a new car. Seriously considering this and the Rio GT-Line. The Mazda 3 with the fancy engine is still in testing. The Swift Sport just isn’t enough of a car to keep long term. I’ll have to drive some i30s. It’s an exciting time to be looking for a car. Thanks for the high quality review. 👍

Pretty sure I read somewhere the GT is tuned to be more stiff on the suspension. The models below are actually more comfy, but obviously you don't get the turbo engine.

The Cerato comes to the US in mid-2019 as a 2020 Kia Forte GT. The Forte sedan is already a compelling value alternative to the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. The addition of a hatchback and the GT's enhancements will add to its appeal. Unfortunately, there are no plans to bring the Hyundai i30N to the US. The guts of that model is in the Veloster N hatchback, a vehicle that's earned lots of applause from reviewers here.

Changed my perception of the Cerato from a modern Camira to something decent. Not enough to stop me wanting a V6 turbo Stinger though..

Great review Richard. I reckon you've got the 'happiest' disposition in the 'car test' game. Seeing I've an Hyundai i30SR Premium, I particularly like Kia and note the relative relationship. Whether one prefers the i30's dour Germanic look, or the Cerato's elegance is up to them. Just this. The Hyundai Kia nexus, will see their products edge ever closer to the all conquering Toyota. And that Warranty! It's the 'icing on the lovely cake'. :-)

I had a closer look on the cars in this category and after a few test drives I ordered my Cerato GT hatch (in sunset orange). Sad there was no manual option.

Question, is the blind spot issue the same in the sedan or just the hatch?

Kind of analogous with my wife's red seatbelted Hyundai 2018 PD i30SR Petrol Turbo 201hp Premium DCR? (crazy name) I find it 'kind of cool', but not a patch on my E-Type coup back in the sixties.

Great review. Love the rating system and the photography. Two things that I didn't like... The way you put your foot on the car was a bit disrespectful to the folks who lend you the car and you didn't fold the seats down to show the cargo space. Besides that, please keep it up.

That hatch version looks more like a station wagon than a hatch, trunk is a bit longer to be called a hatchback

I just bought a Kia Cerato GT and it is great. Yes it goes need more power, maybe 10 KW more, but it’s a great car to drive

This car looks like a 2020 Kia Forte GT. Cerato in Europe, Forte in America?

Great looking cars, especially the hatch, but what were Kia thinking with putting the rear indicators and reverse lights in the rear bumper?! It's kind of spoiled the look of the car at the rear. And plus, if you're going to have a carpark bingle and reverse into something, what's the bet you're going to damage those lights! That just adds to the repair cost. It would've given the car a lot cleaner look at the rear if they had just intergrated those lights into the main rear brake light housings. I agree with regards to the interior and even the carpets, there are some cheap looking and feeling materials in the cabin and it makes it feel a bit down market, but otherwise it's got a lot of gear at an affordable price. I still love my Holden Astra RS-V manual though! :)

Kia using a high quality hard plastic not the low end plastic. You don't see or review Perodua Cars yet their interior plastic material is inferior.

Re Cost of ownership of GT. Analysis may not be full and complete. Well into the deal before fully appreciating some differences from my existing KIA Optima 1. Service intervals are 10,000k therefore 1/3 more frequent and more expensive per K 2. Per service, costs are also slightly higher 3. More importantly Fixed Price Servicing applies only to 7 years or 70,000k not the 7 years 105,000k of other Kia models. Same applies to Stinger Petrol Turbo

If a car is not an extension of your ego,then this car,along with its sister car,the Hyundai i30 N Line,are perfect.Plenty of grunt for everyday use,and great value for money when compared to some of the Eurotrash that cost twice as much (AND you get less features).
