Kia Sorento VS Kia Forte - Epic Crash Test Showdown!

This crash test that was conducted to demonstrate how the size and weight of vehicles can affect the outcome in a multi-vehicle car crash. The test involved two vehicles, the Kia Sorento and the Kia Forte, traveling towards each other at a speed of 40 mph. The Forte overlapped 50 percent of its width with the Sorento.
The results showed that the structure of the Kia Forte, which weighs 928 pounds less than the Sorento, did not hold up as well against the larger vehicle compared to the car-to-barrier tests used for IIHS ratings. In the crash with the Sorento, the Forte received an acceptable structural rating, with a maximum intrusion of 8 inches at the left toepan. However, the Forte performed well in the moderate overlap and driver-side small overlap front crash tests, earning good structural ratings in those categories.
The forces experienced by the driver dummy in the Forte were significantly higher compared to those in the Sorento. Measurements indicated a high likelihood of head injuries for the Forte driver in a real-world crash of similar severity. Right leg injuries would also be likely in the Forte, and there could be potential neck, chest, and left leg injuries. On the other hand, the Sorento had mostly good injury measures, except for a possible right leg injury.
These results are valid only for models sold in the USA

If anyone thinks this was bad, the 2009 Toyota Yaris vs. Camry test was even worse. The Yaris weighed about 1000 pounds less than the Camry but did even worse that the driver of the Yaris had a chance of dying.

I Love These Videos Surprised It Was The Same Brand Against Same Brand. I Know Need To Watch More Videos About This Brand, Just Rode In A Kia Soul Yesterday. They Claim It's A Small SUV.

This doesn't necessarily mean that SUVs are safer than Sedans, because the Sedans are known to save the occupants even after being overridden by trucks where even these SUVs fail.

Yep. That's because SUVs are classified as small trucks which means they have different safety and emissions regulations. That shouldn't be a thing

😂😂😂 I work at a Kia dealership as a service technician. The suvs are not hard to maneuver and they certainly aren’t dangerous. You should learn how to drive

@@ethanhall9028 these aren't the worst of them. Really it's about people who think they need a Suburban as a daily driver. Dangerous, bad fuel economy, and hard to maneuver. They get classified as "small trucks" so they don't have as tight of emissions regulations and safety regulations. There's a reason they're trying to convince more people to buy them-these automakers are trying not to have to put in more effort to make more fuel-efficient cars!

@@drivinginthedcbaareaawd SUV’s handle better then a lot of fwd basic sedans especially European suvs safety standards are quite high as shown in this video look a Volvo their safest car is an suv xc90 I’d argue their quite good and functional.

@@LernestW um no it's both things. The impact on the roof structure and the over side impacts are affected- because of the larger size of the SUV, more weak spots in the doors and pillars. More greenhouse glass in general that compromises safety. Also, hides pedestrians more easily. It's harder to see people over the big hood of an SUV than it is a car, minivan, wagon because they're lower to the ground. Not only that, but a pedestrian is more likely to survive a crash with a sedan than with an SUV. the shape of a sedan means that the pedestrian will land on the hood, and while there may be some leg damage, they are much more likely to go underneath an SUV and be run right over.
