Dam I love these things, even if I could afford to spend twice as much on a euro competitor I think I’d still go the stinger

Have a Kia Stinger GT1 in ceramic silver. One year later I still get asked about it, people love the design and color and are shocked to see it's a Kia. You can't ask for more as a daily driver, powerful, practical, and even good on the corners.

If you want family sports car this is the real definition of it. Good for everyday use

KIA has been killing it. Really hope they come out with a good value Ute, the renders look great

Great review it was bang on. Well done. Love my stinger had it for my family of 4 for a year and the road trips have been epic. Really is a great gt car so much fun and comfort.

I love my GT. The car is so amazing on every level.

My Stinger just turned 1 and it's easily the best car I've owned. Possibly the only glitch is that the recessed nature of the wireless charger makes my phone overheat but that's only an issue when one of the kids hijacks the Android Auto to play DJ on family drives. Love the car completely

I am indeed shocked how much the stinger can function as a wagon or Crossover SUV. With the seats folded flat I have moved things that have no business being in a car that looks this good.

Excellent review. I have the Night Sky edition and absolutely love it. I am amazed as to how many people do a walk around it if I am parked somewhere or come up and chat about it. Agree about the fake vents and I would have liked fog lights like my Cerato GT had ( great car by the way - thoroughly enjoyed it ). I think they could have also done some contrasting stitching on the seats like the Cerato GT. Small points but I think it would have enhanced the total package. I recently did a Sydney to Melbourne trip and was quite surprised at the excellent fuel economy for an engine of this size. I am uncertain if there is another car which offer such amazing performance, luxury, standard inclusions, handling and warranty for the same price. The bimodal exhaust is great as you do get a nice sound as it revs but then goes back to being quiet when it settles. Great on a long trip.

I haven't seen a negative Stinger review. My Colleague has the 2019 2.0T GT line AWD for a year so far. He's still impressed with it. I have the 2019 Forte and I'm 70% happy with it.

Pretty happy with mine. Tow bar, bi-modal and fully optioned. With the situation here in Victoria at the moment, I drive through a police checkpoint and they’re always admiring the car and asking about it. First time I went through, I heard police saying ‘wow...a Stinger’...so they garner a lot of attention. Don’t see a lot of them about, but certainly enjoy mine commuting daily from country Victoria into Melbourne...with my essential worker’s pass and my licence constantly to hand...Damn this COVID!!

I own a Stinger GT2 and it’s our family car. The hatch is awesome and the lower height is perfect. The battery is in the trunk, so not sure how that spare fits. I agree with some of the like to haves like the driving mode remaining when you turn the car off, along with the start/stop function remaining of when I turn off the car. Also, I agree they plastic fake vents should go! I’d like to see a full panoramic roof, double pane windows in the front and possibly rear seats, along with more visibility out the rear. Next year the refresh/facelift will be released. Including an even more powerful engine and larger infotainment screen and gauge cluster will be LED. Kia isn’t sure what the future is for the Stinger after 2022. There’s speculation it may become an EV and that would be great.

Have a Kia Stinger on my wishlist. Currently drive a Ford Falcon BFIII station wagon. Edited to add that the only feature it doesn't have, is the fact that there isn't one parked in my driveway.

I own a KIA STINGER - nearly 3 years now... LUVVV IT ! Got ECU remapped... so now it does 0-100 in around 4 secs .. 274 Kw at the WHEELS and 881Nm of Torque - RIDUCLOUSLY fast for a simple retune !!

I own one of those neon Orange Stingers, now after 20 thousand Kms, yes, I admit it is a good all rounder, not only family car. It misses a few details that you actualy get in another V6 rear wheel drive available now for exactly the same price, I'm talking about the Chrysler 300 Luxury, which unlike the Stinger, offers front and rear fog lights, cooled and heated cup holders, capless petrol inlet, true manual mode transmision, engine remote start among other feautures, but more importantly from my point of view, the ATMO V6 of the Chrysler actualy sounds like the real deal. As good and fast as the Stinger is, I find it less fun, less engaging and frankly a bit boring to drive. I desperately need an improved muffler in my Kia.

Hi guys looking to purchase my new vehicle. I’ve got in mind cla45, gla45 and the stinger gt. Obviously warranty wise its to be the best option. However if i was to sell it at following years how much would it seem to lose value. Also would the stinger be getting an upgrade on interior and badge. It seems to be simple interior and not so advanced with the small screen and so. All opinions welcome thanks

So do I detect paddle shifter gear change or don't you regard that as a valid addition. Nothing mentioned about this important driving part of the car, like the Ferrari or even Honda Accord!

Is this the car the NSW cops will be driving? If there is no longer an Aussie vehicle available, then I have no problem going with a South Korean car for our guys & gals in blue. The Sth Koreans have really lifted their game & produce what looks like pretty decent quick transport.

Does anyone know what the ugly red strip at the back quarter is? A red reflector that comes out of the tail light? No wonder the tv ad shows a red stinger. They trying so hard to hide its ugliest feature

I hate the way that journos feel compelled to compare awesome cars like this to bloody boring SUVs.

Kia needs to either drop the rear passenger seats to be alot lower or make the roof taller for the next model.

When a Hyundai still impresses with reliability, shape that aged well, materials that aged well after 20 years (which is LONG TERM) with tuners that continue to buy used 25 year old parts (that have not been reconditioned or overhauled) with confidence, then I will consider buying it. So far ZERO fits the above. Kia has had engine problems with their engines being only less than 8 years. @t. @t Conversely, Honda NEVER had Vtec malfunction and/or engine production stoppages due to fundamental design problems. 30 years later there are still tons of units that are still factory sealed doing the rounds among Tuners having powered countless cars being purchased by Tuners.

Got no idea why this is a long term review. The content is no different to a normal review and is not very objective in the comments made. I like the Stinger, but the review is rubbish.

I'm not convinced about turbo engines. I'll stick with large N/A engines for now.

lol one of your neighbors purchased a GMC Acadia ... as for the Stinger, the closest "Aussie" competitor was the Ford FG X G6E Turbo sedan and from GM side the VF II Calais V V8 sedan, the respective XR6 Turbo & SS not so much since they both did not have the same level of luxury specs as the Stinger GT does. Performance wise the G6E Turbo easily matches it (RWD inline turbo 6 making 270kW & 533Nm) but save for the lack of a driver specific tune the Stinger GT provides (sports mode, steering assistance (that said, give me hydraulic steering any day over awful numb electric steering) & damper (shocks) control control) meanwhile the Calais V matches the Stinger GT in terms of of interior presentation and beats it for aural pleasure as well as a solid 304kW & 570Nm with that GM Chevrolet 6.2L V8 which also takes 91 RON ... KIA have the right idea but sadly the Stinger most likely is going away after just 1 generation and its not because of lack of sales in the AU market, the stupid Yankies are the issue as they are they ones not buying it and the Stinger was made for their market well before our market was ever considered. Where could of KIA made a bigger impression and get more AU sales for Stinger? the non use of the Hyundai based Tau 5.0L V8 and the lack of AWD option for the Twin Turbo V6 version for the AU market, 2 big fails from KIA which could of easily got them more sales in the AU market but KIA failed to do proper market research.

Screw it being "family proof"! Will the car bring you excitement or rekindle your passion as a car enthusiast? Those are the questions people (especially young people who can afford it) may like to ask! If most people (normies) want a "family proof" vehicle then I'll tell them to go buy some boring SUV or crossover.

The transmission is horrible, at least when you want to take control. It overrides your gear selection.

I'm an american GT owner and when you got to bonnet vents I was like wait a min. Dundee!?!? The Aussie Stinger comes with a free hat, why does a hat need vents and if a hat needs vents why aren't they functional. Then I remembered in the upside down you guys have junk in your boots and ponies under the bonnet instead of junk in the trunk and ponies under the hood. Watch out for those drop bears I hear they are fearsome menace.

I had one. It was a good car, but still a Kia and a bit of a pretender in the segment. Good power. Poor access and space in the back seat. Sold it after 18 months and bought an S5.
