The fact that these 15 y/o boys just sat around and listened to his friend talk about killing a girl is so creepy, like, I think most of us have shit talked about a friend's ex partner but killing them?? At most you say something about them being a piece of shit or how you never really liked them, but talking about them getting murdered sounds so extreme, It's just weird to me
@nat9527

No this shit happened to me!! I used to be friends with this guy and he would just sit and talk about how much he hated his girlfriend and I would just ignore it. But it eventually progressed to him stating that he wanted to kill her and I reported to him to our school officials. They ignored me! They said I might have been trying to frame him, even though his girlfriend was with me and was sobbing her eyes out. It was wild.

That's because "boys will be boys" and a little something called "the bro code". Boys and men are raised with the universal agreement that their friends and family shouldn't and won't hold them accountable. Speaking up is seen as betrayal. Verbalizing that your companions could possibly do something bad is something the others (and their mom) will gang up on you and yell at you for doing. As someone who's lived as a man and also lived as a woman, it's a big failing that I really wish men would wake up and address instead of blaming others for it.

Me and my friends are really fucked up then. Cuz our group had this joke where this kid named Josh would join us into the plot of taking out our friend but we’d do it hella goofy by Josh being like “so kalen… remember that time-“ or another story where my friend Alex would fake his own death as revenge. obviously its not funny now considering I’m saying this in a comment section about a murder and it may perceived to be insensitive but me and my guy friends are very much accustomed to dark humor and we say very fucked up things. So I can see how their “jokes” can be seen as awful considering the context of an actual murder taking place afterward.

And Rebecca seeing right through him makes me think he was not the first one of his kind in her life. If it wasn't Rebecca, it would be another girl. This case is horrific and honestly the texts between Josh and his friend were extremely disturbing even from the friend. He was egging him on and it didn't seem like a joke at all. I feel so bad for Becca and her loved ones. This was a completely senseless crime and absolutely never should've happened. A 15 yr old girl lost her life because of a narcissistic psycho who couldn't handle being ignored. He's a monster and should NEVER be released. I bet he reoffends if they do let him out.

omg this is why you have to stay away from narcissists entirely bc even if you're in the right and did nothing wrong doesn't mean they won't make your life a living hell or harm you edit: agreed, def easier said than done. i'm 100% not victim blaming, i just mean don't think u can fix them. once you notice their ways just silently leave as best you can, and don't call them out on it bc it will not go well for you. ironically it's good if you make them think it's their idea to leave you. just let them think they've "won" and no longer need you

They're sneaky little fuxkers though- they know how to talk their way around and out of everything. It's taken me nearly 30 years of life, and becoming a mum myself to realize what a raging narcissist my father is. They do a good job of making you think it's YOU that's not good enough, or they make your emotions out to be dramatic, while their emotions are the center of the universe.

Yeah it’s hard for victims to even realize they’re being manipulated and taken advantage of. I think once a victim realizes the situation they’re in by doing research they can go from there to try and escape whatever hold their abuser has over them.

I was only 6 years old when it happened but every time it crosses my mind again I'm still Blown Away by how insane and gruesome of a case that it is seeing as how nothing like that has ever happened before or after in that town. They just recently decided to do DNA testing on items that they found there now that it's been over 20 years and she is still on death row. Few things; Calling children mature for their age is so incredibly toxic. Just because a child is given more responsibility than they should have at their age doesn't make them mature for their age it means they have an inappropriate amount of responsibility and have to deal with it. It's detrimental for their development. If she was "mature for her age" she wouldn't be getting back with Josh over and over and over. That is a clear sign of her maturity level and decision making ablitiies. Secondly how as a parent can you see a person playing your daughter over and over again and still allow him in your home. That on and off again shit can stay in school you not coming in my home after playing in my daughter's face again and again. I just don't get how her mom felt endeared to him???

This case is extremely sad. This happened near my school, about 2 min walk. It hit Bridgend extremely hard. Joshua's brother went to my school, was awful.

If true crime has taught me anything, beside that life insurance is a sign someone wants to do away with you, is that anyone who "jokes" about murdering someone all the time, its probably not a joke.

The crazy part is there was actually a photo that was posted to Facebook of Joshua pretending to strangle her during recess/school (you can easily find it on google by just simply typing in one of their names). The fact that someone took this photo and posted it and didn’t think to look further into his behavior is beyond me

That guy is a sick individual, all his friends are; who jokes like that? That they would so casually speak about a young girl being killed tells a lot about the type of people they are. I would never in my life think to make such a comment in fact I would be mortified if I had a friend who routinely talked about killing his ex.
@gertskook
@gertskook Жыл бұрын
@@mishw1789 I’ve said it about certain people in my family, and the one who almost killed my uncle and someone who SA me. Doesn’t mean I’m going to do it. His friends didn’t expect him to do it. They just joked. Thinking oh he’s angry let him blow off steam in our talks.
@mishw1789
@mishw1789 Жыл бұрын
@@gertskook This is a false equivalence you saying that about two people who caused you great pain is completely different from him saying that about an innocent young girl and for them to think that speaking about murdering a young girl is just blowing off steam speaks to the type of people they are. There's nothing funny about what he said and for his friend to laugh it off and say "I'll buy you breakfast if you do" says a lot about that friend's character but I guess birds of a feather.
@gertskook
@gertskook Жыл бұрын
@@mishw1789 it’s more of anger and hurt. There’s no difference. Like now a days we need to take it seriously I mean look what happened to the girl in my town Tristyn Bailey. This was long ago where we don’t think of that and we joke around. I mean when I was SA it was my ex so that’s literally in the same ball park ya know ? It’s a dark humor thing as well. Nobody expects you to actually go and do it. We may find this different but in the end we both know it was wrong and the person should rot in hell for killing someone innocent. Now we should take it seriously as it’s different now than back then.
@mishw1789
@mishw1789 Жыл бұрын
@@gertskook You being angry at your ex who SA'd you and expressing a desire to kill him or her is nowhere near the same ball park as this POS. I'm sorry that happened to you and I'm sorry you can't see the difference between those two things. Wanting to kill someone who SA'd you is understandable I mean I would want the death penalty for most sexual offenders and murders so its in the same vein but it is unequivocally wrong to want to murder an ex just because its over and you're a narcissist. It isn't dark humour because there's nothing funny about that. Reducing it to just dark humour trivializes it and we can clearly see how harmful that is.
