As a person that was raised by parents that are hard metal, rock, punk etc fans, I don't really think that stuff like that have anything to do with the music? Such people are meant to do something like that. Yes, aggressive music might promote aggression, but it doesn't create it. Most real fans of hard metal, that I have met, have been extremely nice lmao

Metal and punk concerts are the most friendly environments I’ve been in as far as concerts go. I’m sure there are exceptions but so many people meet lifelong friends and people watch out for each other typically. It’s definitely not the music that makes people violent

Yea my dad is an avid listener of metal, rock, etc. since he was a teen and I've never known him to be a violent person or agressive person. The people I've met who do like those genres are mostly really nice and chill people.

The red flags Elyse ignored because she was innocent and naive scare me. I have younger siblings like that. What do you do? let them be a child or tell them how dark the world is and ruin that in exchange for their safety. It sucks that kindness is such a weakness in today’s climate. You have to be cautious, strong and a bit jaded to survive. The traumatic experience I had was the first time and the last time because I decided to shape up. I’ve saved myself so much trauma by analysing red flags and avoiding certain situations.

The world can be really tough but in reality these extremely sad things are very rare. You just give kids age appropriate advice without too much detail that will scare them, and guide them if something bad does happen with coping mechanisms.

I feel like if the police are going to constantly fumble the bag in terms of solving cases, the public should be able to do something about it. Like if someone hinders an investigation, they get charged with obstruction so why shouldn’t the officers that choose not to do their jobs? (I know the answer is cause they will always protect themselves and each other before the public) It’s so frustrating that the people literally tasked with solving crimes can just choose to ignore their job and it goes unpunished

Imagine if the boys would have committed other murders during the time they were roaming free due to police neglecting their duty to protect and serve. I wonder how many preventable crimes have occurred due to similar neglect. If the parents didn't have the funds to hire help they could still be out there killing people.

@@A_Ducky I lost my mom a few weeks ago, and you’ll never know how to deal w it. The only thing you can do is take it day by day, & never be afraid to let someone know if/when you’re struggling. It’s hard af (probably the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced) & you’re going to have good and bad days. Spend time with your loved ones but remember to be there for yourself too. I’m praying for you and your family 🙏🏽❤️

Cases like this frustrate me to no end. Eylse was so trusting and kind. She was probably terrified in her last moments. Those boys, Royce included, are irredeemable. They were creeps who had a scary lack of empathy. And to the police who did nothing to find her, I hope they lived their lives (or are currently living) consumed with guilt for failing Elyse.

If everyone lived this way there would be very little "good" in the world. Unfortunately, it's what most people are subscribing to. Ik you may be making a bit of a joke of it tho. There's a difference between being naive and being a kind person. They can easily be traits of people who tend to view things optimistically whilst being naive, but there is room for a healthy dose of reality when maintaining a generally optimistic outlook. I think that the latter is a better way to go about life rather than be a sort of "hopeless optimist" which can be a more dangerous outlook that gets people into more trouble than not.

As a former teen who had French doors leading to a balcony in my family home: DO NOT GIVE THAT ROOM TO YOUR KID LMFAO. Please. They will use it to sneak out and even when they don’t… it’s still a danger. I was a little shit who snuck out that way all the time but my little brother once broke his ankle because the mf climbed/jumped down it like it was parkour. Ngl, it’s easier to blame something large like conspiracy and rock bands for why a loved one was killed. It’s a way for the parents to distance themselves from the blame they feel. Like it feels better to think it was something grand and something far above your head. And it’s worse to feel that you should have done something, shouldn’t have let her go out, shouldn’t have sent her to therapy, should have protected her, etc. None of that is true and it isn’t the parents fault. I’m just saying that this kind of reach tends to be an avoidance of another type of trauma. It’s still stupid though. And has its own consequences. It’s just music and at least those boys will never go to a concert again

I don’t think we should fully blame the influence of violence on games and movies, but on social media romanticising these men and killers. They shouldn’t be making the men who destroyed hundreds of lives “misunderstood” because there was always a choice between doing good and bad, the amount of people I know who had a abusive or struggling household but came out to not always be successful but financially stable to support themselves and their family.

I find aggressive music often tends to correlate with less outward agression in many cases Probably because it can act as a healthy outlet for agression, thus usually causing people to be less likely to take it out on other people/things

As someone who listens to metal bands like Slayer and even fucking Cannibal Corpse, it's hilarious that people will blame music lyrics and metal in general for violence. Most metal fans are actually some of the sweetest and down-to-earth people. These kids were sick in the head and blamed a metal band's lyrics to get a lesser sentence instead of just owning up that they're murderers, and it seems like they didn't feel any ounce of remorse for what they did either.

nirvanas "R^pe me" wasnt about r*pe actually, it was menat to talk about how the music industry/entertainment business screws over a lot of people in many ways. not the best word to use, and thats why they had to take "r*pe me" on their albums and change it to "waif me"

I recently watch a movie called Pain&Gain and found out it was a true story about the Sun Gym Gang, a group of personal trainers who kidnapped and tortured a guy for money! The story is so surreal and it would be so interesting to hear your take on it!
