Fun Fact: In Auto mode your monster's character model would change based on the stats that leveled while running through it. Higher speed would make them lankier, power would make them beefier etc. etc. It was a really cool design decision I'm shocked was never reused in any other fighter.

I would like to nominate Xenophage: Alien Bloodsport, for it's obscurity (and kick ass Bobby Prince soundtrack); but considering MS-DOS fighting games, I can't think of anything worst than Tongue of the Fatman, that's not just stinky, is putrid. I'd imagine the worst fighting game is one that exists in the early years of gaming before Street Fight and Mortal Kombat set some standards, where everything was up in the air and nobody knew what they were doing, that's the first place I would look into.

One thing I'll definitely say about Tongue of the Fatman, is that at least the cover is about as good as the game itself, so at least it's not misleading in the presentation department. For once, judging by the cover isn't entirely pretentious.

"The Way of the Little Dragon" for the Amiga is one of the worst fighting games I've ever played, but I don't think there'd be enough meat to a video solely devoted to it sadly.

I love this series and I really like how you do the segment transitions, couldn't have a better music and visual combo to get the viewer hyped up as you bring back repressed memories of hard saved allowances and paper route money ultimately wasted.

I actually enjoyed Battle Monsters! My brother and I used to have a blast playing that game. And you're right, the creators did not give a fuck when it came to that game, and that made me like it even more!

God I hope you do Tattoo Assassins at some point. I just need this in my life. I actually got to play a surviving arcade cabinet of it at the Louisville Arcade Expo in 2019 right before Covid hit, and it will forever be ingrained in my memory.

I know talking about good things on KZfaq doesn't attract as much attention, but I would honestly love to see a companion series to this where you go over all of the fighting games that you consider to be the best bang for their buck for whatever time they were released in.

OMG, Killing Zone!! This was one of the first PS1 games I got, I found it in a bargain bin & never heard anyone talk about it. Ya it was corny & janky, but it was a good kind. In the 90's it was always a fun time with friends, although I suspect it wouldn't age well. The auto mode was fun too, as your monster lvl up they would get a random visual change, like armor or something & it was a lot of fun leveling up the character up till you ran into that one BS fight (this mode was perma death)

This was a guilty pleasure for me when we rented it at my local Dollar video. My favorite character was the mummy with the stretching arms, and adds to my ever growing list of silly game grunts, including the "REECHURAH" announcer. I also learned about battle monsters after the fact, and agree it is wonderful.

KOF XII was a tech demo in package form. Samurai Shodown Sen killed its franchise for a long time until the pretty good recent reboot.

XII was really rough, especially after how tight XI was and how utterly outstanding XIII ended up being, and then there was the wall juggles... But it was more a collection of poor ideas and bad execution, not nearly a game worth being called "the worst". Hell, it's not even the worst KoF, I'd take it over NeoWave or maybe even 2001. Not that my opinion means anything 😅

I have Battle Monsters. That game is freaking awesome and incredibly fun to play. One of the better fighting games using digitized actors and stop motion after MK. And the enviroment and characters are insane(in a good way) It's a shame that we no longer get creative games like we had back in those days.

The gorgons were sisters trapped on an island. The story Perseus included Medusa as one of the Gorgon Sisters. They weren't snake bodied until Ray Haryhausen made them so as a budget cut in animation for Clash Of The Titans

How about Fighting Masters for the Sega Gen? Every time you win, you'll have a heart attack with the ear piercing sound that plays. Some of the bit music that plays are anxiety inducing. More so than the 'Drowning Sonic' warning.

I remember getting this, Need for Speed and Gameday 98 with a playstation for Christmas back when. This game got about two hours total play time across twenty some years.
