I do like that the word "Teras Kasi" translated is "steel hand" as a way to honor the game's inspiration being Tekken (Iron Fist), cause the game sure as hell doesn't honor it lol.

Her fighting Vader while working for the Empire isn't really surprising to be honest. Vader tries to kill half the people Palpatine takes a liking to in the comics so he doesn't get replaced.

More people need to be made aware of the legendary Star Wars hero that is HOAR.

I love every installment of The Worst Fighting Game. I think the Transformers Beast Wars Fighting game for the N64 would be a good pick for the next episode.

Probably the biggest compliment the Star Wars fighting game could be given is how it is one of the better "Worst fighting games" out there. Yeah, this was bad, but when you look and compare it to the other games we've seen thus far, at least this one can have some enjoyment we can squeeze out of it. Not a lot more at least you'll get more blood out of that stone than you would with others.

The worst part of this was that according to Seth Killian, Capcom originally pitched Star Gladiator as a Star Wars game but Lucasarts turned the pitch down.

I hate the fact that we never got another Star Wars fighting game after this. There is so much potential for an awesome Star Wars fighting game, with the vast array of powers and the enormous roster of characters that has been built up since the game came out.

The most interesting thing was that before this was made, there was supposed to be a Star Wars fighting game made by Capcom. Once that fell through, Capcom simply retooled it into Star Gladiator.

So glad you mentioned the Episode III fighting game within a game! I remember playing that so much longer than I ever spent with the actual main game. It was loads of fun and honestly felt like it could’ve been developed into a game on its own. I even thought at the time, “why is this in here and why is it so fleshed out?” Amazing to find out they just did it for kicks, truly some skilled developers.

I liked this game as a kid, it was one of the few games my uncle had that actually let me played with lightsabers, that was until jedi academy took over my life of course.

Since we're talking about the Empire having a senate, I might as well point out that it did have the Imperial Senate. However they were powerless and just the Empire keeping up the facade of wanting to restore order to a corrupt governing body.

I remember buying this at a garage sale for 10 dollars. In 1997. I was stoked that I could put it in my discman and listen to star wars music on the car ride home. Then I think I ended up playing an hour total and traded it in the next month.

Yeah, this one has to be in the category of "games I played on my teenage years that I desperately wanted to like but couldn't". The concept of a Star Wars fighting game was just so cool, and the presentation was top notch, but the gameplay was SO bad. Everything just felt so stiff and clunky, especially when compared with other fighting games I had at the time, so I ultimately didn't play this much. Talking about fighting games that I desperately wanted to like (and one that I did liked in a very "guilty pleasure" way): I hope you eventually cover the Dragon Ball fighting games that were released for the PSX, like Final Bout and Ultimate Battle 22. Granted, I'm not sure if they were ever officially localized in English, but they fit with the theme of the show so I thought they merit a mention.

Interesting concept, but poor execution dragged this game down Fighter Within for the Kinect... that one should have a place on here in the future. A poorly controlling Kinect Fighting game with no visual charm whatsoever? That has a chance of taking the crown as the worst.

I had a love hate relationship with this game as a kid. My parents were very strict and I wasn't allowed to play most fighting games, but this was one they gave a pass to. I do remember it being rather fun to force choke people out of the ring. It was not a particularly good game, but I did manage to have fun with it, and once you get used to abusing ring out, it's not that hard. Cool for the time, if very flawed.

Matt, I am telling you, this series will continue until you cover Bikini Karate Babes. That is the actual worst fighting game ever made, once you experience it you will realize there is no contest.

this was one of the first games as a kid I couldn't help but to think "this game suck", and believe me, that's saying something. I remember I couldn't pull off any special moves and how slow it was to attack normally. by this point, I had already played Tekken 3, so we can't even say it was plainly a matter of learning the game, since Tekken was just so much more accessible from the get-go

Literally went out of my way to get a "Hoar vs Hoar" clip like, last week. Happy to see it in here! This is one of those games I played a TON despite always recognizing it as not being very good. I'll always have an affection for and I would lose my SHIT if someone ever brought back Ardyn Lyn in an official capacity.

You should cover Iron & Blood: Warriors of Ravenloft. It's like someone took a really bad version of Mace: The Dark Ages (Another game you should do) and slapped the D&D Ravenloft setting on it. The Ravenloft setting is a gothic horror setting that has no business having a fighting gmae.

As a Finn, it never stops amuzing me they named a Star Wars martial art in Finnish...And kind of screwed it up. It should more properly be "teräskäsi", one compound word. Finnish (like German and a bunch of other languages) pretty much always compounds nouns whenever it can. At least in the official material they did correctly put the dots on the Ä, which a lot of English material miss, probably because standard English typefac doesn't have them (A without dots is pronounced about the same as the A in "car" or "alarm", while Ä with dots is pronounced like the A in "cat" or "hat"). Without the dots it'd means "steel eight" instead of "steel hand".

A fun detail is that this game was supposed to be made by Capcom, but they were rejected in favor of Lucas Arts. Then Capcom retooled that failed pitch into Star Gladiator. Would have been cool to see how a Capcom Star Wars fighter would have turned out.

Imagine a Star Wars fighting game where you play as the Mandalorian and one of his moves has Grogu drop in to Force choke the opponent.

I think they should give the idea of a Star Wars fighting game another shot.

I remember this and I was disappointed that it wasn't more like Bushido Blade. Having matches last two swings would be cool in a weird way.

Game suggestions? There's Shura no Mon, a Japan-only game based on a popular karate manga. The game is one of the rare games to ever receive a low score from Famitsu and isn't very highly regarded, to put it lightly. I'm not sure if you have any ability to navigate Japanese games, though.

I'd really love to see you rip apart Heavy Nova for the Sega Genesis. I saw one of my friends play it and good...LORDY, it was a painful slog to watch. Dude had a tough time playing through it even with a Game Genie active! You know your game's done something wrong when your Game Genie isn't as effective. For everyone that doesn't know, it's a mecha fighting game...but there are several mechanics that just don't make sense and has platforming sections that somehow make Mythologies Sub-Zero look good in comparison. Not to mention, the A.I. abuses infinite combos like it was John Belushi doing crack, and it only gives you 3 continues, too.

I remember that my best friend bought this back in the day and he invited me over to play it with him for the first time. I finally was like, "This is really bad." To this day I don't know if he was trying harder to convince me or convince himself that it was good. We all try to cope when we buy a bad game...

It was cool to be able to pick your favorite Star Wars character and fight it out with a light saber or weapon. It could use better controls but I've played worse fighting games.

My family and I got so much mileage out of that Revenge of the Sith game when I was a kid. That fighting game mode was so surprisingly fleshed out for an unassuming side mode.

I remember playing this around age 5 or 6. My aunt shows up and says "I brought my PlayStation and with Star Wars" and my brain pictures a Space Station playset with Star Wars Action Figures.

I remember seeing this at my Blockbuster as a kid and for some reason my gut feeling told me this game was garbage even though we weren't in the digital age yet haha. A few years later my brother and I played this at our best friend's place and it was one of the worst fighting game experiences we went through. xD

The N64 game "Dark Rift" is kind of a Star Wars like fighting game. Although not a licensed nor based Star Wars game, it has that sci-fi theme to it. Was a pretty decent game with good graphics.

Two DBZ games: Ultimate Battle 22 and Taiketsu. Played both (own Taiketsu) and they both stick out in my mind as some of the worst games I’ve played in general.

Dude my vote goes to Cosmic Carnage. I TRIED SO HARD to like that game in the mid/late 90's when I was in denial of Sega's downfall.

I know when Teras Kasi got name dropped in Solo it threw me for a loop, I don't know about anyone else. But maybe that's what cursed it to be the second lowest grossing Star Wars movie of all time.

The game is fun when you're slightly drunk, and doing luke vs vader only, and luke can't use his lightsaber. Shockingly, that evening finished with luke ahead by two wins. Never played it since.

I love how Disney made so much of Star Wars Expanded Universe Non Canon, except for this. Anyways for a future video I’d love to see you play The Simpsons Wrestling.

Kabuki Warriors for the Xbox is another prime candidate for this series, with a 32/100 on Metacritic. It's a game that's very much aimed at Japanese gamers (though it was released in NA first for some reason), since it expects you to know a lot about kabuki theatre, and the English localization fails to take that into account for Western audiences. Makes me wonder why it was ever released in NA at all, much less made for a system the Japanese didn't give two shits about.

Umm I just want to know what the tiny white bar that fills when damage than goes down is. Does that buff your character or does it fill the force bar faster. Matt like glace over it but what does it do. It was more distracting than the large force bar.

A while ago I watched a video showing all the mortal kombat fatalities, and ever since then KZfaq has been shoving fighting game recommendations in my face that I want nothing to do with. However, this game has a “special” place in my heart. I rented a ps1 from my local game rental store just to play this. I had finally cleared my feed of those annoying recommendations, but I’ll risk a resurgence for this trip down memory lane.

She is one of the most wasted and underrated Star Wars characters of all time. Love the shoutout for the Revenge of the Sith game, of all the movie tie-in games around that period, that one was way better than it needed to be. Which, from the fact that they made a whole fighting game mode in their spare time shows that they actually gave a damn

The reputation of this game prevented me from playing it for a veryvlong time. They really should have attempted to get some outside help from people with more experience. Maybe then tgis could have been great.

I can't replay it nowadays but I think it was just ok, but I know someone said 'it was just like Tekkan' at the time and while that isn't a problem being compared to another IP (and not being more of a stand out) it didn't look innovative either. I do think they should had scrapped Teras Kasi, and come up with a name that was more recognizable and easier to pronounce (given word of mouth was and still is a thing)

Please take the time to look at the Zero Divide series. No one in ages has ever even looked upon these games ever since their releases, and I think this could be a great opportunity to do so. Especially since ZD introduced some key features FGs usually would have today, but was looked over for other FGs that just took some pointers from it and used it in their games. Makes me wish the series was revived properly but I know that'll never happen.
