Hey Julia! So exciting to see an unload up! Use the platter for yr Kintsugi instructional video! The little pink jugs r just the cutest! Glad u like the pt galaxy I love it. I do 2 galaxy but I love how u use 1 coat of crystal glazes. Much more subtle. The cobblestone just makes me think of mosaics. Love the IL PT jug best I’ve seen iron lustre. Omg that handle n shape of the last jug is gorgeous! That would make a great shape n handle for a mug!! Great unload. Last jug my fav xx

Hi Nat, I do prefer subtle with the crystal glazes as they aren't my favourite thing, I will Defford do what you said and add more base colour. I do like the iron lustre on the big jug it worked well. Yeah my afave was the lilly jug too, love that handle ❤️ ❤️

Hi Julia, great kiln opening, love the little jugs especially the pink one you did with sangria. The twist handle is gorgeous. Very original the last lily jug and the handle was just inspired, the colour of the rainforest is just beautiful 😍 love that colour. I’m sure you could hand build a lid for your coffee pot 👏 🙂💖

Great opening Julia! Such a shame about the platter, you managed to keep that so flat too which is always a challenge. Slipcast jugs are so sweet, lovely to see the bare clay on the belly of the jug too. The blue egg trinket dish is so sweet too! You got the transfer well applied to that. Big blue dot bowl really like the variance in texture inside, looks so rich in that colour. Such a shame that little piece on the rim had chipped off somehow. LOVE the blue Swan jug with rope handle! Such an elegant shape!!! Great opening Julia, a treat to watch this morning ❤❤

Another amazing kiln unload 🤩 I love the jug with the twisted handle it is stunning 🤩 and the bowl too wow so cool. I have fired my bowl that was inspired by you and now I’ve made another taller one that is drying and should be in a bisque next week woohoo 🥰💕

J, Im REALLY LOVIN those little jugs...all of them! The glaze combos are outstanding! P.S. wishing you a Happy Easter (if you celebrate it) and hope you have many many many more glorious kiln openings. Cant wait to see them all! P.S. FYI My Colorobia glazes also blistered on white and also buff/speckled clay @ Cone 6, oh well, try them again at Cone 5.5 maybe that will help

Hi Marie, Happy Easter. Thankyou for your kind comments 😊 oh interesting to know you have the same issue, I have had it before with the red on buff clay but not the other colours. My Son wants it though so it won't go to waste 😊
@jeanettesherratt12763 ай бұрын
Hey Julia, great kiln opening as usual. I’m addicted to jugs. If you can, can you tell me where your son bought those beautiful jug moulds. I adore the shapes. And that handle on the last one was a definite WOW🎉. When you use the dots do you use the dots itself to make the middle (smooth) or put another thin layer of clay. Your kiln openings always inspires me. You are very talented and I love your style. My cast comes off in 1 week. It’s been hell not to be able to produce anything. I have, however, managed to do loads of sketching and make templates. My favourite was definitely the lily jug. Jeanette xx
@ceramicsbyjulia85523 ай бұрын
Hi Jeanette, thankyou for your kind comments, unfortunately thr jug moulds were not new they were pre owned and he bought them from a lady who acquired a job lot of pre owned moulds years ago that she has been going through slowly. I press the balls of clay into he mould either plaster or bisque and push it down slightly, then the mould is covered I then smooth them over quite firmly, I don't use any other clay 😊

Wowowowow!! I love everything! Such a beautiful kiln unload!! Love the jugs and that handle is amazing. Also love hearing your neighbor singing in the shower!! Hahaha. I would absolutely be soo very grateful if you could do a video on how you press clay into your molds!! I have been slipcasting for almost 30 years and I’ve only tired that a few times. I’d love to see some jugs done in pink!! Anything pink. And of course you do so well with the underglaze decals that would be beautiful!! Also… you can dry the molds out in the sun but make sure that all of the pieces are strapped together very tightly!!
@ceramicsbyjulia85523 ай бұрын
Hi Michele, it was a noisy kiln opening with the neighbour, the dog and towards the end the ice cream van 😄 ohh yes more pink sound good, I did the amaryllis ,marigold kimchi jug last time but it wasn't very pink. Think I might try one with that sangria amaryllis combo from one of the mini jugs. If you want to message me on Instagram I will talk you through doing the clay 😊 I will do a video though it is on my list. I have had the wettest moulds out in the sun when it is out, but being March in the North of the UK that isn't very often 😆 it was such a shame finding those moulds like that, as a slip caster you will appreciate my broken heart seeing them and wanting to give them one last chance of life even if it was only 1 mould some how of the salvageable pieces 😊

Love the jugs the lilly idea is great. Perhaps a teal/darke blue. Did you know if you flick a fired piece, it should ring. If it goes thunk with no ring, it's most likely cracked

I’m inlove with the egg shaped trinket dish. Did you say that you put a decal on it to get the pattern? I love how you troubleshoot with us. 💜 Happy Easter!! 🐰🐣🐇 I would attempt to make a few lids so you have a lid. I love the lily pitcher. You could make it a set with a creamer, sugar dish & 4 cutie little white dishes to match. With a blue matching blue flower like the handle. 👍🏼
@ceramicsbyjulia85523 ай бұрын
Hi Natalie, yes a decal on the little egg trinket dish. I get them from ebay they are inexpensive. I do like the troubleshooting as I hope it helps you guys to avoid the mistakes I find and I just like talking to you 😄 A set for the lilly just would be gorgeous, what a great idea, thankyou 😊

love the glazes. Ideally you will let us know what's the brand of the glazes :) sure color is important, but brand would be ideal. Thanks.
@ceramicsbyjulia85522 ай бұрын
I will try to remember but I only use Amaco or Mayco and the ones outside of this I have are Spectrum kimchi, spectrum Sangria and Laguna power turquoise. Everything else is Amaco or Mayco. I'm in the UK there are not that many glaze companies to choose from. If you get stuck you can Google whatever name glaze I use and put (name I use) glaze and it will bring up the brand. I have neurological illness and don't always remember everything. Plus I do this all for free to help people who like pottery, I'm just a hobby potter not a professional 😊
