Just another point, whilst I used to think this, I don’t agree with this logic anymore. The idea that only dermatologists/ estheticians should be able to launch skincare brands. Very rarely are these two professions ever involved in the creation of skincare brands other than the term ‘dermatologist tested’. It’s actually not a factor I consider at all. Not necessarily in this case alone, but I understand the collaborative effort between ‘taste makers’ celebs, influencers, with industry professionals but more importantly, cosmetic chemists. BUT SAYING THAT, it has to make sense still right?!

It definitely does. My favorite brands are owned by "non professionals" like derms and such so that is not the most important thing at all since of course they have professionals creating their skincare. When a celeb launches a brand that person is of course not sitting in some lab making the products themselves so to me that's not a big deal either. I still choose to purchase skincare from brands that didn't start as influencers or reality TV stars just because you know that those brands didn't start in the basement of someone's house purely because those people were so passionate about skincare that they worked super fucking hard to make that dream come true like Herbivore, Earth Harbor and other brands. These celebrities already have all the money in the world to make whatever product they want happen so I don't really feel a lot of passion behind that. Just a craving for more money and power. And when you see someone like Kim who's already in the past launched makeup, fragrance, jewelry, clothing and god knows what I just don't really feel like she's doing this because she's sincerely passionate about creating something truly special in skincare. But that's just my opinion.

"Dermatologist tested" and "dermatologist approved" are two separate things and brands like this really should know better. I’m a 48yr old woman with a chronic “treat yo self” attitude 🤣 I love to add a beautiful bougie skincare product to my repertoire but it needs to offer something special to justify a really high price point. None of these products wow me with anything unique or special unfortunately. It’s going to be a rough ride for KK entering the high end skincare market right now when she’s selling to consumers that are more educated than ever on ingredients and their benefits and therefore we’ve become savvy buyers. Take for example, Korean skincare. It’s has never been more popular and readily available and their innovative use of ingredients that actually produce results is outstanding and the price point is impossible to fault for most brands. It feels luxurious and it’s result driven. A tough competition against a $600+ skincare set from KK with basic ingredients. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ll pass.

She’s made a mistake with the pricing here. The brand states it’s for everyone but this price is wayyy off for the demographic who actually like the Kardashian’s. The pricing is appropriate. At a lower price, you'd go for "budget" skincare which everyone has reviews of. I hate this new “refillable” marketing. If it still has the same amount of packaging it’s not sustainable, they are the same thing that go into a fancy exoskeleton. Pumps shouldn’t be on refills. The round packaging refills are the only ones that seem decent.
@Charlotte-hc9co
@Charlotte-hc9co 2 жыл бұрын
I actually agree. Most of the time when you get a refill package, the refill itself comes in a plastic package? And if you've bought it online it then comes with more packaging. I think we should just focus on making products in general more sustainable and easy to recycle, because what's the point of being able to recycle the bottle but no the cap/lid?
@ZonaHiranandani
@ZonaHiranandani 2 жыл бұрын
Completely agree with this point and @charlotte ‘s point too (never mind the obvious cash grab imo). It’s just greenwashing on an absurd luxiry price level. Too many (big) companies are just slapping refillable lines down and saying “it’s recyclable!” When really they’re not reducing their packaging or opting for packaging redesigns where it actually saves problems. It’s the lazy profitable route they choose to do instead.
@cloudiamettelli
@cloudiamettelli 2 жыл бұрын
Glow recipe had started to make their moisturizers with refills. As I am sure you know, the outside of the packaging is glass (literally infinitely recyclable) and there is sort of a smaller (than the unit itself, not small when compared to other moisturizers) plastic pod. The edges to it are not very thick, so there is not much packaging involved at all. I believe that the little pod guy is recyclable as well. It costs a bit less, too. While I don’t think it is perfect, I think it is a step in the correct direction. It’s better than having four large containers that 1/2 the population won’t even try to recycle or repurpose. (I actually have been using mine as little containers for my necklaces that get easily tangled when I hang them in my jewelry cabinet. The moisturizer containers are the perfect size for a necklace and they seem to resist tangling better in those little vessels than when they are hung amongst other pieces. I then put them on a drawer that is in the dresser right next to the jewelry cabinet so I remember exactly where they are! So there’s an idea for you folks as well. Perfectly repurposed, nothing in a landfill.

I can afford premium skin care now, at 47 in about a week... But this isn't one I'd put on my preference list. It took years of "cheap" skin care to get to a point of being able to steer towards luxury ... I earned this ability. But can I say, I still remember those days of pinching pennies and unless I can justify spending that kind of money on a product, I'm just going to buy lower cost products I KNOW work on my older, combination, acne prone skin. I can't see me ever purchasing these.

Too expensive to for me to consider trying any of these products. Then again, the Kardashians are out of touch with how the majority of people live. Packaging is nice but doesn’t stand out from any of the brands I use - the aesthetic reminds me of Fenty’s skincare line, just more nude. If there was something revolutionary to the market maybe I’d try to save up for it but when there are so many great, more affordable and accessible products already available for purchase I don’t feel compelled to try anything.

I just think there’s a huge difference between “overpriced” and “out of your budget” the media is insane right now because everyone expects creators to produce products strictly budget friendly. But you all forget that not everyone is poor. She has plenty of friends who can make this line thrive. Not every product needs to be $10-$50. If that’s your budget that’s fine, but it doesn’t make this product a scam it just makes it out of your budget. It’s just sad to see people get shamed for making products higher end just because the media is full of lower class people in the comment section. I don’t just mean Kim, if you go on an creators feed that sells anything over $100 the comment section is full of weird comments of people being mad they can’t afford it. It’s weird to me.

Because they rather save money by making the product usage cheap and affordable but overcharge an arm and leg because of your "name" but the ones making the product's gets to capitalize, should things go successfully and everybody buys because of the hype. I personally feel like if she did make money off of it...she's marketing to solely one time usage customers. Who will use it just to say they tried it but never repurchase again. Jordan's cost 16 dollars to make one shoe back in the day...but charge a minimum of 250 because people are paying for the brand name before they pay for the actual product. So as james said in the video she thinks just because of her networth value and she wears balenciaga...she thinks she can charge Balenciaga prices. You can tell she skimmed through a chapter of kanyes book but didn't read it. In order for kanye to sell high-end fashionable shoes...even though his fame was from the source of rapping... is because he spent time and did full research of fashion from a wide concept and actually came up with something innovative in his creation...and marketed at a country that wouldn't judge him for his controversy but in the product itself. He's smart asf. He knows his flaws and didn't ignore them from a business pov like Kim does. She thought oh "well lemme just put effort on the packaging and sell basic shit and do the same thing as yeezy that's basically what he did " and did not understand the assignment at all. Ugh I'm putting it politely Edit: also to add in response the reason why she wouldn't want to sell something with unlimited resources to top notch brands is because in my personal opinion I feel that she rather keep that knowledge to herself. I don't think she actually wants people looking like her and I think that's why kanye dates women that looks like her because while we think that's creepy he probably knows that it bothers her deep down inside because he was her husband and probably knows something we don't. He's childish and I don't agree with his tactics but I think Kim wants to be the only Kim Kardashian out there and if she wanted a bunch of Kim clones running out there she'd tell us all her doctors, and her entire staff that contributes to how she looks. So why not sell bullshit in a bottle to gullible people for financial gain? Either way if it flops it won't hurt her so why not. I feel like that's more of the vibe she's on.

@@mary1stcor15v1-4 nice comment. I agree with many things. I personally met two different girls at different points in my life who contour their faces to look exactly like her. I think they admire her because she's "luxurious" and rich just for the sake of being rich. it's actually creepy when I think about it since I don't share the same values at all. I think she likes having women copy her in whichever ways they can but it doesn't really pay for her to be putting her actual secrets out there, especially when facials and derm treatments do most of the work. also concerning her psoriasis. I have a relative with it and it's tough. not the worst but not fun at all. so she has extra things she would probably do to take care of her skin. I understand why she would be so insecure given her profession and her mom. but ultimately she's not someone whose advice I would actively seek out about anything, especially appearances related. I'm secure in my appearance and I don't envy her position.

@@mistress.villaina7591 I agree with everything you said! And yes everybody skin type is different so people that copy her religiously are disturbing asf because why would u copy somebody u have a different skin type from? That's why I effs with rihanna fenty (I don't wear makeup but if I did I'd rock fenty) because she caters to everyone's individual shade as best as she can... like idk to each their own if people want to copy Kim I guess but I think people should embrace their own individual beauty and looks instead of copying idols. But yes that's probably another reason why Kim decided to do "9 solutions" (which BTW I'm into astrology 9 Is the 9th sign saggitarius and she's a saggitarius rising libra sun.) LOL for anyone that knows. But that aside she probably did all that and called it "neccessary" because of her own skin issues. But not everybody needs all of those things depending on ones skin type but ofc it's a business move to encourage all of your products and overexaggerate what's "neccessary" lol

When I think of celebrity skincare lines, I think that they care more about the texture of the skincare items and sensorial part of it than the actual ingredients. Like you can have great skincare ingredients, but be way down on the list and have ingredients like denature alcohol (not saying it's the worst ingredient), but be prioritized on the very top of the ingredient list. Fragrance and parfum are usually in the middle or top of the list. I just hope that the products do have great ingredients with zero to little compromise like Peach and Lily.

Kim’s packaging is really almost carbon copy of Phymongshe’s, even down to the aesthetics of the product promotion photo shoots. Though, tbh I’m not surprised. Kim lacks in creativity and has a tendency to copy others that she finds interesting, but it works for her and those unaware of the originals give her the credit. Similar to how she copied the name of Lori Harvey’s skin care line. All she added was an extra K. Another small Black owned skin care business already had the title SKKN+ in use and she’s being pushed to drop it by Kim’s brand since she wants to Trademark the name. She needs a better creative team, her habit of copying is tasteless and getting old. It’s like that kid that copies your test, sees your mistakes and corrects them, and gets a better grade than you after applying a fraction of your effort.

As someone who suffers from constant facial psoriasis (same as Kim), it would be interesting if they kept that in mind but I'm sure they didn't. SOOOOOOO even if I have the money I wouldn't be buying this. 🤷🤷🤷

I was always under the impression they used cheap manufacturers and products; I would not waste my money on their items.

Why wouldn't she use the name KKW Beauty? I feel like skincare falls under the umbrella of beauty products. Lots of makeup companies have a skincare line. That's my opinion on the name.

@@JamesWelsh yes they are divorced. However, I haven't seen her make any changes to her makeup brand. But maybe that's coming.

This is a nope 👎 for me! I would rather spend my money on products I love and know work than add more money in her pocket! The price is ridiculous, MOST people can not pay that. They have no idea what & how everyday people live and survive.
