I found this at the perfect time!!! I work directly in my living space and funny enough I do tiny living 😄 my living/studio space shares 12x24 feet. I have a very small bench (a computer desk actually hoping to upgrade to an actual bench for Christmas/my birthday which is New Years Day😁)I find the small micro torches is as big as I can go safely and honestly with the right soldering set up I havent had any issues.

Exactly, you don't need much space or heat for most things :)

Really appreciate this video. I had a tiny torch which just wasn’t cutting it so bought a map torch which blasts the bejesus out everything. Thought I’d have to resort to a smith little torch but you’ve given some great options thank you

Thanks for this comprehensive guide! Really helpful!!! 😊 💕 I have tried a Rothenberger mini gas torch from Skrewfix. £22 plus £2 Swan lighter gas. It does get hot enough, 1300 C, but I am not sure if it is suitable. Very small, precise flame. I have successfully made a ring with a large bezel, so I know it is possible, but am having trouble, partly poor technique on my part, e.g. flux burning off, silver getting red, but solder not flowing. Maybe I am underestimating how hot it gets. Sometimes I think I am moving the flame around the piece too much, but then you have to with the tiny tip. The torch itself was initially spitting and snuffing itself out when you turned up the heat or tipped it. Can be spitty to refil too, and not possible to tell how full. Otherwise I love the fact that it is extremely lightweight and easy to direct, I can even pass it between hands to get more even exposure.

I was wondering as I was watching 👀your videos and I love to have the bigger one but my hands are deteriorating every day from the RUMATOIAL ARTHRITIS I have been dealing with and I would rather have a small one. I was just wondering what the price is for the smaller one. LOVE ALL YOUR INFORMATION AND I REALLY APPRECIATE YOU TAKING THE TIME TO SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH THESE ITEMS.

Found this suuuuper helpful thank you Kim, just wondering if you have any new recommendations for a home jeweller needing a flame strong enough for sand casting but still within a small indoor home studio?

Fantastic video really informative, I have been making silver jewellery for about 2 years ( hobby ) am still learning but would love a go at casting. I do have a clarke micro torch and it's great so far but I am going to upgrade to the go system fine tech however could you let me know what the nozzle for the pro/max torch is just in case, please thanks Lesley

Hi Lesley, we only sell the GoSystems Tech Torch and we find this most suitable for most soldering jobs. It has a large flame and great for larger items. There's more information on our product description 😊www.kernowcraft.com/products/metal-clay/item/go-gas-multi-torch-c113

Hi Lesley, as Kernowcraft have mentioned the fine tec torch is perfect for most jobs but if you need THE BEAST :) It's the GoSystem PT7020H Just be careful with it as it's heat travels well beyond the flame so you could very easily start a fire with it so safety measures are a must.

Thanks for this video! I've been using a plumbers torch so far and the flame is way too big but i haven't been able to find anyone recommending something that doesn't require oxygen. (or is really expensive like the sievert stuff)

Where is the fuel available in the U.S. for go systems????? Is fuel interchangable with other brands??? does it have a base to stand it up???

Are Go System products available in Australia? I can probably purchase the nozzle you recommend from an overseas supplier, but obviously the cannisters cannot be shipped. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hiya & thank you Kim for a very good & very, very informative video. You are a wonderful teacher, I love your style, can I find your lessons anywhere else? If not would Kernowcraft & yourself consider doing a new series taking your teaching a lot deeper? A potato? I absolutely loved that & have used it since & it does work very well, just the potato is not cooked very eavenly & can be hard eating!!! Shame I can't spell, never could... Back to this film though. We keep being told that the 'Cream bruly torches are only good up to a very limited use then you need Sievet or Smith little torch, why? Why is the 'Go system' never spoken of? From what I've seen watching this series the go system is far better for people like myself living in a rented flat. If I surgest to my landlord that I might have a oxy/propane set up they would reach for the phone to ring the baylif to have me evicted... Even with an oxegen generator! So again thank you Kim for opening my eyes to a less pricey & for my set up more acceptable alternative. Take care & stay safe... Steve...

You bought so much cheap torches with plastic that will melt when you use the torch for 5 minutes. For this money you could buy 1quality torch from Orca with 3 different heads and you would have all in 1 torch.I wasted too money for the cheap torches but was allways frustrated how often the plastic melts,or after a couple of weeks the torch is broken. Now i bought the Orca Hobby MP 99 with the 3 burners and i am satisfied, and its quality even for longer use, from a small to very big flame, all the torches you show in one.

The disposable canisters are not only a waste of money, they are just wrong. You can buy solid, refillable tanks that can be adapted very cheap now. You should adapt and delete this video and show some environmental responsibility.
