Hey Pat nice video. I really like your home setup. That wall in the back looks sweet. I'm running a Tikka T3x Lite chambered in 30-06 Benchmark barrels muzzle brake and a limb saver recoil pad. Javelin ‘Pro-Hunt’ Bipod long and a Leupold 10x40 vx3i CDS scope. I really like your kimber! (If you haven't used the Spartan Bipods check them out. Awesome Guy's)

Have 4 Kimber 8400's. One Montana .270 WSM. One Montana .300 WSM. One select grade wood in .300 WSM. And one Mountain ascent in .300 Win. Love all of them.

I've got 4 kimber mountain rifles (7-08,308, 280AI, and 6.5 Creedmoor) all are very accurate and completely stock. ..sub 1/2 moa out to 600 yards is common.

I've been bouncing between two rifles. A custom 6.5 creedmoor with a havak action and proof carbon barrel in a Manners EH1 and a Kimber Montana in 280AI. The Kimber took some tinkering as you mentioned with yours. Accuracy was mediocre out of the box but a few modifications (filing the box mag to reduce binding, sanding the barrel channle for additional clearance to mitigate flex, and a bedding job) it's now shooting .22 - .65 MOA and will likely be my go to this year for high-buck as its just over 7lbs with scope and rings. Looking forward to following your season. Good luck to you and the crew.

I’m running the Savage 110 Ultralight in .30-06 right now topped with a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-16x44 using Talley one piece ring bases. I’ve been shooting a Barnes 150 gr. TTSX @ 2995 FPS. The rifle has been extremely interesting to learn on. It is my first every Savage with the Accutrigger and I’m not a fan. I’m going to switching it out with a new Timney blade. It’s been a great learning curve from the Howa 1500s I love. Keep up the great work. You guys just gained a new subscriber.

I had mine (30-06, Vortex Viper HS 4-16x44 DHBDC) consistently ringing an 8 inch steel plate at 430 yards. Insanely accurate rifle. The only limitation is the shooter in any case.

Nice I run a Kimber Hunter in 7mm-08 for my ultra light. For longer range to bigger animals I have a Winchester Mod 70 in SS. If you cant tell I like the Mauser style and 3 position wing safety. :)

I have the Mountain Ascent in 6.5 CM and other than it being picky with ammo to get to less than 3/4 moa groups (mine prefers Nosler Match Grade 140 gr) its been a joy to shoot and hunt with. Considering getting another in 280 AI for bigger stuff.

Nice rifle! My mountain rifle is a Kimber Montana 300 WSM with a Swarovski Z3 4-12 and Tally rings. I did all the same work to mine that you did. Went from 1.5 moa to .75 moa. Kind of picky with what bullets it likes, 200 grain accubonds at 2900 fps are my go to. I’ve reviewed the Montana on my channel if anyone’s interested.

The music in this video is a bit distracting but this one is over 9 months old. More recent videos have tamed it down a bit and lowered the volume to the point where it's actually pleasant. Anyway regarding mountain rifles; I own a Bergara Mountain Rifle ver 1.0 chambered in 270 Winchester. I also several Tikka T3x Lite rifles and I have to say for the money the Tikka's are far and away the biggest value I have seen in this category. I had considered the Kimber Mountain Ascent rifles last year but was turned off by the fact that they don't have a magazine floor plate or a detachable box. Once you load the ammo the only way to get it out is to cycle each and every round through the chamber. That was a deal breaker for me! That's the only fault I could really find with the Kimber though. Everything else seems like a really nice design.

I live in Colorado Springs and bought myself a Bergara B14 Wilderness 6.5Creed for elk and deer. After owning it for a year and being thoroughly impressed with the accuracy (.45 MOA @ 100 yards) I have come to realize that a rifle with a naked exit weight of 9.7lbs. is just too dang hang for trekking around in the Rockies with. I have been looking at this Kimber as well as Christensen, and other lightweight rifles. My question for you is: "If you could buy any lightweight hunting rifle right now for this coming hunting season what would you buy?

I love your content and look forward to more. I do however find the background music very distracting and annoying. I took a big sigh of relief the couple of times that it ended only to start up again. My son just got one in .270 and is putting a Leupold 5x in 3-15 and a bipod on it. This thing is amazingly light. He needs to give it to his dad who is still packing a 10 lb rifle around.

Wow!!! Just purchased a Mtn Ascent in 280AI, moss green stock. Pricey, but I liked the look etc.(especially the sculpted bolt machining), and wanted to try the best of the factory ultra-lightweights. I was expecting to sell it though, as expecting it to be too hard to hold on target, with the cross hairs jumping, twitching around because of the lack of inertia of a lightweight rifle. I had an Adirondak at one point and had to sell for this reason. I was hoping the Mtn Ascent would be better with the longer 24" barrel, vs 18" for the Adirondak. Well, bottom line.... Yikes!! I'm a traditionalist, mostly liking walnut stocks etc. I'm also a stickler for accuracy. I bought the Mtn. Ascent moss green, as I thought it was the the least 'offensive' looking modern composite rifle, lightweight for hiking about, and weather resistant. I am also a scope snob/elitist ... and crazy about Schimidt and Bender low power, and Zeiss V8 high power models. Some of my rifles have been inexpensive Tikkas, but would still mount a premier top-of the line scope, several times more expensive than the rifle. I think the scope is the personality of the rifle, like the reel is the personality of a fishing rod (I have to have the Hardy reel ratchet sound, especially when playing a big fish!). So, I mounted a very heavy (for a mountain rifle) Zeiss V8 1.8-14x scope weighing about 1lb 9oz. Also, I was hoping the heavier scope would help steadiness for accuracy. When I put the scope on, Astonishing!!... the look and balance/feel were wonderful. And, I was able to keep a surprisingly steady bead on the target, really, just as good I think as for my heavier walnut rifles. Not sure why? But exciting! AND, the accuracy was spectacular! Shooting under a minute of angle, with field (not bench rest) conditions using 140g Nosler 'Accubombs'. My gun store noted the rifle is known for accuracy, at least in 280ai Also, I added a nice basic dark brown leather sling, which adds to the combined tailored look.... I am very happy! God's Love, Mountain River Wilderness Valleys, North America!
