I'm hoping to start a new series, might not be more than a handful of videos, of my Mom reacting to music I hope she will enjoy. I'm not trying to convert her to metal or anything like that. Just maybe covers or songs I want to share with her.

**I know this has been up for almost 5 years, but algorithm is algorithming. Many of my song reactions are getting blocked so I have to mute where I can. I know you all have heard this song before, this is not a market substitute. Play it along with us if you have to. HUGE thanks to those who understand! My sincere appreciation. ❤ Sorry to those who think there is a lack of physical reaction, facial expressions etc. This song grabs my soul and then I'm in the zone. Not sure if it was being on camera or what, but be assured Mom loved it! If you want to listen to the actual song you can listen to that somewhere else this is about a reaction.

Trump is a God fearing man, the best POTUS ever. He rarely sleeps. He has done more for the Average American than the last 5 presidents combined. Set aside your personal feelings, biases, and prejudices. Trump has made America great again, despite all the lies , attacks, and conspiracy theories of the left. Trump's level of tolerance and endurance for the left wing attackers is at a supernatural level. Many would have cracked and walked away long ago....instead Trump stays the course and gives his salary to charities. Who does that? Come on seriously. Get yourself out from the evil talons of the left.

I think you both did a good job. I'm probably older than your mom, but please give her a bit of credit... She heard it by Simon and Garfunkel. She knew it to be a good and meaningful. I've always liked the original as well, but that was a call to look around, to pay attention, where this was a shout to get up off your butt, put your phone down, turn off the t.v. and have a real interaction with a real human. Paul Simon contacted "Disturbed" and told them it was the best cover of the song that he'd ever heard...and you guys did well to expose more people to it.

I remember when Simon and Garfunkel released this song in the 1960's. I was 13 and the song spoke to me then. i have always loved it. This version is a real kick in the guts. "WHY DIDN'T YOU DO SOMETHING!", it is screaming "WHY DIDN'T YOU PAY ATTENTION!" It makes me weep at all that we have lost or destroyed. Powerful, powerful performance indeed.

Paul Simon wrote this song in 1964 while sitting in a dark room by himself. The message of the song is as relevant today, if not more so, than it was in 1964. The song is an essay on the negative cause and affect that technology is having on our society, especially our social interactions with each other. In my opinion, the song was a foreboding message about was to come in the future. Looking at the advent of personal computers, cell phones and social media provides conclusive evidence the future Paul envisioned is here.

Yes Simon and Garfunkel’s song was mellow toned well sung by the two together but soft and mellow. As you said as a warning I’m 55 yrs old and love Simon and Garfunkel’s music and when I heard Disturbeds version, Omg!!!, very strong!!!. I loved it!!!, his vocals are crazy insane and amazing!!!. From his bass tones to higher tones and beautiful controlled vocal rasp, wow!!!, very powerful like he’s reaching into one soul and being out everyone’s true feelings. Oh my gosh beautiful voice. He needs to sing more songs like this. He has that voice that can sing any type song

Your mom’s reactions were very subtle. A slight motion to her head to the beat of the music. The blink of her eyes. There are times when the impact of a song grabs you to the point where you actually absorb the words into your soul. I have listened to this so many times I’ve lost count. It still resonates.

I can relate with your mother's comment about hearing some of the words for the first time. For me, as a man in my 60s, I grew up in the 1960s and early 70s, I remember hearing the Simon and Garfunkel version many times on the radio and while it was never my all-time favorite, it ranked up there in my personal top 10 but not for it's message, it was for their harmonies. It wasn't until I heard Disturb's version, that I understood what the song meant, which I don't even think Paul knew when he wrote it in 1964. I am not a fan of Disturbed's usual type of music but this version and their live version they did on Conan O'Brien's quickly became my number 1 and 2 favorite songs. A little bit of trivia, after seeing their performance of this song on Conan, Paul Simon said it was better than the S&G version.

Well, you had me up to the 6:59 time stamp. Here’s a tip; unless you’re a mega-star and have more money than you can spend, never alienate 50% of an audience you’re attempting to attract. Obviously we’re all entitled to our opinions, but politics and religion are never a good idea if you’re gonna put yourself out there. Having written this, it continues to concern me that so many younger people paint the President with such a wide brush of how much of an “idiot” and how awful he is, yet when pressed, fail in providing anything of substance. The economy is at record highs, bringing back our troops, all-time low unemployment, record high employment... I can go on and on. I’ll tell you what the issue is... previous administrations have lied to you so much that you had no choice to believe it. But most importantly, he has the guts to say it like it is, AKA to tell the truth. Unfortunately people don’t want to hear the truth. Believe me, our President is NO moron.

Not sure what world your living in Manny. There is plenty of things Trump has done wrong. Disguise a campaign fundraiser as a veteran fundraiser. His properties are doing so bad he uses his position as President to promote them. Doral is losing money, that is why he wanted the summit there. His hotel in New York only profitable quarter was when the Saudi’s rented 500 rooms. He has the Air Force stay at Turnberry so the local airport won’t close. The next airport is 130 miles away. First time that resort has been in the black in years. Abuse of power for personal gain. Give it time the market will fall and fall hard. Also, every city he campaigns in are not reimbursed for their expenses and protection. Soon cities will cringe when he comes to town.

I think Disturbed brought the power and darkness the song needed. It's amazing that Paul saw this back in 1963 and look at us today. Neon lights paved the way to flat screen tv and smart phones. I still love the original just because it's their song and Paul wrote it and gave it life 56 years ago. Nice reaction to a beautiful song and message. Your mom is so sweet and she knew the message about people. Thanks.

I never heard Disturbed before I’ve listened to a few song and they are good but a bit too heavy metal for me that’s why I loved that he could sing ‘sounds of silence’. He knows how to sing those notes, knows how to control the rasp, he knows how to save his vocals from getting damaged when he belts out the high notes and rasping. Good on him beautiful singer. If you see him sing on Conan the auto tone from the show just automatically kicked in you can kind of see and hear the tech mechanics of the auto tone as he sings. He didn’t know that would happen at the time. He still has a beautiful voice tho I’ve heard a few other concerts were he sang sounds of silence and he sang amazingly. Well done

Anyway, her reaction that it was impressive was right on target and the message of both versions (Simon and Garfunkel...the warning and Disturbed...the accusation (maybe)). @@kimwatchesstuff This song is not political. It is your personal interpretation of of it and that does not open discussion to anything when your mind is already made up. I am closer to your mom's age and back in our day politics, religion, taxes and who you voted for were personal issues. We just did not go there. Some things in life you keep to yourself. Did your beautiful mother ever tell you that if you have nothing nice to say then say nothing at all? That is one thing youngsters need to learn. You have no clue about the difficult decades we lived thru. Climate change was one and is not in this song. We had what they called "acid rain". I lived in So Cali my first 27 yrs and we were all going to die. We'll I am still here and our air is cleaner now than it was then by far. Do your share and if everyone would do the same we Americans would be much better off. You'll be surprised when you hit 60 yrs old how much you thought you knew now was nothing compared to what you learn later in life. Song was a dream made into a song. Climate change has taken place sense the dinosaurs and fossils prove this. The sun does more for climate then anything else and carbon credit, higher taxes, more government isn't going to change that. If the sun stops putting out heat tomorrow no-one can heat or cool the planet. Ohhh, Ladies. You could do so much better with your video. 2 Headphones and never say " Screamo", would be the best place to start.

Ya'll need to get a splitter and another pair of earbuds, so y'all can both hear all of the music, instead of just part of it. This is definitely a good version, but I prefer the original, because it's creepier.

Not your normal style of music is exactly what makes reaction channels popular. People want to re-live their journeys through your "virgin" ears. Just a thought.

How can you really hear a song with 1 ear. Ruined the stereo separation. Try two ear next time. Sound engineer.

If Paul Simon can love the sound of the voice of God ... I am sure your mother does too... Very fun Idea I hope she continues with these... (PS tell her to look at her investment portfolio and the price of gas while she remembers the unemployment of the 1900's ...) Tell her I said hate him all you want ...like I don't like piercings... but F* it the sound will make you forget the face and the man... (MAGA hehehe)

@Timothy Schar Don't know what world you live in, but the majority of Americans don't have an investment portfolio. And as for the unemployment of the 1900's that is an awfully large span of time (century). Obama took office in 2009 when the jobless rate was 7.8% and rising. It hit a peak of 10% in October of Obama’s first year. When Trump took office in 2017 the rate was 4.7% which was well below the historical norm. Hope history won't repeat what happened during the recession that began in 2007. It was kick-started by excessive risk-taking by unregulated banks and was closely followed by the real estate market collapse fueled by creative ways lenders relaxed standards for mortgage loans. The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 was in response to that recession and lessons learned. And what was one of the main goals of this current administration? Remove regulations. One of their many actions was gutting Dodd-Frank. "Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it." Winston Churchill

Okay first of all, thought this was a reaction video, not a video about political opinions/statements., This country does not need more devisiveness, as in the end of the video and in these comments. Sadly lost me to view anymore reaction videos from this creator. Music is music. If you want to make political statements/opinions and then cause debates in comments then your title should represent that. Devisiveness is not cool.

I grew up with this song, David's update is incredible. I have watched this hundreds if times as well and this is the ONLY time it has not brought, at least a few tears of enotion. The total lack of emotion, whether you have heard it before or not was very strange to deal with. HOW this song sung this way does not bring some kind of emotion to you the first time and every single time after that you hear it is beyond me! But then it IS your reaction on a react video. Sqeemo or whatever that word was also......a bit insulting when it comes to Disturbed. I have heard their other music. Its not for me. But it is incredibly evident that David is a highly trained vocalist who SINGS and doesn't scream. Just my humble opinion.
