This is a very biased opinion assuming you are only doing this for the money. I have went the route of living for a pay check and have done alright for myself and my family. But I wake up every day feeling unmotivated and borderline depressed knowing I have no passion in my current career. Life has a way of rewarding the brave and the bold! If this is where your passion is have faith and move forward. God will have your back and you will be grateful knowing you are living the life you chose!

Being a kinesiology major is like being an entrepreneur, the thing you are marketing to get a job is yourself, if you don't know how to market yourself getting a well paying job.

Many Bachelors degrees get you no where anymore. You must think long term period. I found Kinesiology very interesting and prepared me for Athletic Training. I use the material all the time, and am progressing into my final stage of my career with more graduate school.

Appreciate this video, I was initially a Kinesiology major but just changed to Business instead. There are more ways than ever to become a fitness influencer or just be involved in that world without a degree or certs now. The pay and the payoff just isn't worth it for me and for most people just getting their PT license or having a social media dedicated to fitness or nutrition would suit them better rather than going for it full time. It's only worth it if you're interested in Health and even furthering your education.

It's crazy how a majority of people believe that socials is the underlying motive when it comes to having a career in fitness. Surely you can become a fitness influencer or PT without a cert or degree, but the time you spend on your own is considered your learning time. Many people don't even know where to start, and the internet is a big place, lots of courses, lots of informations, lots of people. Having these things is just a general guideline for future career purposes, not because anyone is concerned with clout lol. Sad to think people would rather influence than help people.

I always wanted to do something fitness related. Personal Training, Fitness Manager, PE teacher. I already been a Personal Trainer and Fitness Manager with certifications, realized just how unstable I’d be if I kept it up(I made so little money) so I went back to school for my Kinesiology bachelors JUST TO FIND OUT it’s such a useless degree unless you’re going for your masters in PT OT AT. I’m on my last semester too😅 I’m definitely glad I can get my teaching license and work at a highschool as a PE teacher🤧 It just so happens that you need a bachelors in kinesiology or exercise science to start the teaching program, so we’re still in it😅 and I could even get my masters and get a nice pay bump

What state are you in? In Oklahoma you just need any bachelor's degree and you can do alternative certification.

I was worried this video would be about how you shouldn't do Kinesiology, PERIOD. I'm glad that it's just about how you should pursue an M.S., P.h.D, etc., which is something I already wanted to do. I want to start with a Kinesiology B.S., and move into an Exercise Phys. M.S., and P.h.D.

If money is the concern, the best advice is to work more than one job. Maybe one job for sports management that’s full time and maybe personal trainer on the side. Or exercise physiologist for a clinic and be a trainer or coach on the side. Either way at the bachelors level, you will need to get multiple jobs to make at least 45-55k. Maybe you get a sports manager job that is paying 45k and then u still get a part time gig for 10k plus. Just my thoughts honestly. It sucks that it has to be that way and there isn’t many of these jobs available on a regular. Take advantage of your connections.

2:00-2:10 I felt that in my soul. I was going to go to PT school but I thought I could easily find a good paying job and save some debt by not going to grad school. I've wandered around to come to this same conclusion... I love the knowledge that I've gained but truthfully speaking I want to be a 6-figure earner and without grad school, this isn't the way. Now I find myself wanting to pursue a degree in technology or engineering bc the pay is much better. It may take longer but atleast I'll have more career opportunities to be financially successful.

I am a kinesiology major (motor and rehabilitation), and currently I am on my last year in community college and I’m about to transfer the bachelors . These days are WORTH NOTHING , but I do want to become an occupational therapist so I will be going back to school.

I was a Kinesiology student in L.A. then rolled that into a golf management program which resulted in a 12 year golf industry career. There were a lot of students in my classes that were heading into medical careers. You can also just double major or add some minors.

I am currently a first year kinesiology student in university and possibly looking into taking biology as a minor. I will definitely be doing my masters as well and so far its alright. I have been though looking into other majors because kinesiology is quite under looked at. Still not entirely sure what I'd want to do later on as I do have to keep the salary in mind.

Great video. I'm in high school thinking about Kinesiology, and trying to become a personal trainer for a gym possibly later on. I was thinking about majoring in Kinesiology and getting a minor in exercise and sport studies. Then maybe later when I have a solid job go into grad school to become a physical therapist. I was wondering what you thought of this idea?

That is exactly what i did. Personal trainer while going to undergrad and after. Saved up a little bit and then went to PT. I would recommend that you take prerequisites while you’re in undergrad so you’re not in school for an additional 2-4 years trying to take prerequisites AFTER you graduate

Hello Dr. Lee you’re a big inspiration for me!!! I’m currently obtaining a BSPTA with a full scholarship (there’s only 3 programs in the US that have this) with a ore health minor to get into DPT school!! Do you think the carry over will be significant.. I know classes don’t transfer for traditional programs but I was wondering if the extra knowledge would give me some leverage to be a successful clinician!! I would do the bridge program but I have the luxury of living with parents so I don’t want to move out.

I'm a kinesiology major, but I'm also a student athlete. Initially i thought pt was the route for me, but now I am considering becoming an athletic trainer and looking to get a graduate assistant(GA) position at a university near me to pay for my master's degree. As a GA they pay for your tuition for the master's you are pursuing

I agree with some, i am a kine major, no plans going to grad school, i am a Personal trainer, one avenue you can go is into management in the PT department, then maybe after go to GM of the gym then regional director etc etc. This is the route i will go. The only athletic directors and S&C coaches that make good money are in top universities and ways to get there are mainly connections and the security is not there. Just my sense

You’re totally right! And if that path works for you, I would encourage you to pursue it! Unfortunately not everyone is willing to go into corporate and climb that ladder. So there are pros and cons

I have a bachelors in kinesiology and I will say that a bachelors by itself is pretty much useless. If you are able to market yourself well then you might be able to get lucky and find something at a gym or clinic, but odds are you are going to need to get more certifications or a higher level degree to find something that pays well.

What are your thoughts on going for an accelerated bsn (RN) after being an exercise science major? I initially went into exercise science in hopes of becoming a DPT but after realizing the debt I’d incur, I don’t want to go down that path. Accelerated nursing program seems to be the only financially secure option for me since I’m a senior and my only other option would be becoming a clinical exercise physiologist, but there doesn’t seem to be many job openings for that or good pay.

BSN is ranked one of the hardest bachelors.. I think if you did that accelerated it would be as equal or harder than a DPT.. not sure tho

BSN/ RNs rn make a inflated crazy amount of money due to covid Ive met agency nurses who make 50 an hour but the average salary nurses make is 32$h

A lot of the nurses I met do not enjoy their job.. tbh I love PT and I think the debt yes is a lot but if you put your head down and work hard you can pay for it!!! PRN with HH you’ll make 120k as well as potential to open cash based clinic making 150k salary for yourself…

@@JohnDoe-mt6gb yeah I think you’re right. I’ve got a cumulative gpa of 3.75 which I know isn’t the best and I’m no genius at all, but I definitely know how to work hard. I also play college baseball so that’s taught me how to manage my time. But yes I’ve also heard it’s super tough so that sorta scares me.

Yo bro im in the same train as you, im graduating in may and realizing its kind of useless sucks, needing to go in more debt to get that security Is tough. Im currently trying to figure out what it is I want to do because I've realized there is no other way but to go in debt and go to school just to make 100k+ for PT. Keep pushing you'll find what you want !

hi Justin, i am a high school student, i would like to be a physiotherapy in the future w a stable salary, i look at the university requirements it has the direct path to take degree of kinesiology and then master program of physiotherapy but after watching yr video i very agree that if i take kinesiology it may narrow my career so can u suggest what should i take instead of degree of kinesiology and after i graduate i take the masters of physiotherapy？

If you want to become a physical therapist you don’t really need a masters in Kinesiology. If you don’t have the pre-reqs you can take them in a community college then straight up apply to PT schools.

The kinesiology major is a fine major for specific people. Yes graduate school is the most common option. However, I have meat many Kinesiology students who go into pharm / medical device sales, adjacent fields of study and totally unrelated fields and perfectly fine making above 100k.

Cause see I got my kinesiology because the AT program got drop from college my sophomore into my junior year which was around covid time and they said just do kinesiology it’s the same thing so I was like ok but now I’m thinking about strength and conditioning or pt or a pta degree and I just need answer can you help me

Hi! I am a massage therapist and have been for about 10 years. I am getting a BS in Applied Management online just because the army is paying for it, and I want to have a BS.. I want to stay working in areas related to massage therapy. I was thinking about getting a Master degree in Kinesiology, but I don't know if it is worth it or if there's many career options considering I will not have student depth.. also, I don't know if I can get into an MS in Kinesiology since my anatomy and philosophy classes are from massage school and don't count as college credit hours... let me know if you can help me understand my options better or where I can find accurate info about it. I personally don’t think getting a masters and kinesiology is worth it. If you want to stay in a related field, I would recommend getting a personal training certification. If you want a career in a kinesiology related field, your best choices are physical therapy, assistant, physical, therapist, or occupational therapist

I love when students are majors other than kines or exercise science. Best recommendation is to try to cram as many prerequisites you can while you are going through school (yes that means you will need to take extra classes which are not required of your major). Start early!

Most grad programs want you to take anatomy and physiology. It’s important to know how the body functions to be a strength and conditioning coach. Good luck on your journey!

You have many job opportunities. You may not be able to work in the exercise field but there are plenty of places that want employees with degrees, period. This whole advice of “if you aren’t going into Engineering or nursing don’t go to college” is so stupid. Not everyone can or wants be an engineer or a doctor. I will say be smart with your choice of school to save money, but your degree isn’t worthless and if kinesiology is what interest you, do it. A degree is better than no degree

What’s the point of studying kinesiology for med school? Just go to school for pre-med or biology.

Yes it's possible. Technically speaking anyone can apply to medical school (M.D. and D.O. programs) with any undergraduate degree so long as the prerequisites are completed for the program(s) you're interested in. The degree requirements for Kinesiology will help expose you to the sciences like Chemistry, Biology, and Physics as well as some math courses (calculus may be a course you take in a sequence for the degree) which would prepare you for the academic rigor of medical school. Also, applying with a Kinesiology degree would help make you not look like the cookie-cutter Biology major who applies because he/she "wants to help people" and likes science. Definitely keep your GPA as high as you can. Your extracurricular activities really would be the second most important thing for applying to med school (like working as a medical assistant, medical scribe, or CNA, and so on) and having the required hours of shadowing physicians of course. It's possible but you need to have a plan

I AM SORRY BUT WHAT KIND OF CAREER COACHING IS THIS? TELLING KIDS "THERE IS NO MONEY IN IT"?! THIS KIND OF WORK CAN BE VERY SUCCESSFUL FINANCIALLY AS WELL IF YOU RE DECICATED BY HEART TO HELP PEOPLE. HOLD A SAFE SPACE. THESE ARE THE INFORMATION THAT KIDS NEEDS TO KNOW. I SUGGEST YOU BOOK A KINESIOLOGY SESSION TO WORK ON YOUR NEGATIVE BELIEF SYSTEMS AND A GOOD CRY WILL HELP. THEN MAYBE YOU UNDERSTAND THE NATURE OF THE WORK AND SHIFT YOUR FOCUS. BEST OF WISHES.
