Just finished riding this in 4 days on my old touring bike; wouldn’t be able to do it if it wasn’t dry… I live in Winchester and am freelance so great to have the freedom to finally chuck a bivvy in the pannier and jump on the bike at a moments notice when the forecast looked good, having been perusing the fantastic guide book since it came out. So glad I managed to fit it in this summer, and am really enjoying reliving it watching your videos.

That's great to hear Peter and proof that you don't need military planning and the latest 'gravel/MTB' gear to have a splendid time. Make sure you look out for the West Kernow Way guidebook and route launching next month although west Cornwall isn't so handy for Winchester.

What a great series of films and an awesome route. Fabulous stuff. I live near Bath, and am now planning this route for my next 5 day touring trip on my Haibike electric fat bike. Rolling resistance isn't great as you can imagine, but it eats up the hills and sand. Thanks for the continued fun and fascinating content.

Having done my first multi-day trip in September 2020, I cycled Bristol to Reading, along the Bristol - Bath cycle route, then continued on the Kennet & Avon Canal; I have been contemplating my next "Trip". Having stumbled across an article, on the Cycling Uk website, I was quite attracted to this route. Then I found your video guide/diary; WOW! I'm really hoping to do this ride now. Great commentary Guy, and your enthusiasm for the history and scenery is very contagious, but boy you appeared to be rattling along at a pace!

Fantastic videos! Incredibly historically informative and an absolute pleasure to watch. I live in Reading so have done many of the routes in bits and pieces over the years but to have this as one big route now is a challenge to behold. You were going pretty quick Guy to do that in 3 days, especially along Basingstoke Canal! ( heart in mouth when you were going under those bridges) lots of dog walkers, very built up area, I'd probably say to the wider public using this trail, ding the bell before going through those parts. I think for an average person 4 days would be more achievable. Especially Farnham to Winchester which is slow progress through sand and very hilly so I think I would break that down maybe? Stop and take in the sights along the way, take some time and reflect. For thousands local to the route, but time restricted, break it down into 4 Sundays? Get the train/ car drop off to each starting point, we are so lucky it's so accessible. Wahoo/ Garmin is a must though as it's incredibly challenging navigation wise in these parts, multiple bridleways/ footpaths at every junction. All those fun looking single-tracks up and downhill off the trail are worth coming back for! Note; Oxfordshire and Berkshire bridleways are not good in the wet. It's no fun having to peddle downhill through deep thick mud. Also Ridgeway ( chalk) is slippery as a slippery thing in the wet. Thankyou Guy and thanks to Cycling UK for stringing these off road routes together.

Really glad you enjoyed them Mark. We got very lucky with the canal section as it was just the right time of day on a Wednesday late afternoon and the weather had cleared up after raining for a while. Plus it was still very much in the first Covid lockdown wake right at the start of July. I can imagine that section would normally be very busy and very slow/stop/start but Anna was on a mission for cake by then! Breaking it down is a great idea as an intro and it's been a massive success so hopefully there'll be lots more similar routes for you to enjoy coming soon.

So cool to see some of my regular rides are part of this route. 👍👍 I must go and see if they've put the deck back on that bridge, it's been like that since before lockdown. That sand on Frensham Common is tricky to say the least. Luckily it doesn't hurt when you fall off. Haha
