It is the hardest thing imaginable to follow the late Queen, our beloved monarch of 70 years, the longest reign in history. Charles stepped forward within hours with that historic pitch perfect speech one day into his reign. He has done it again with his first Christmas speech, both traditional and modern, inclusive without being woke, Christian, religious yet open to non believers, serious yet warm and welcoming. I notice how often he talks of love, and how often he thanks those who serve us. His heart is in the right place and he is a worthy successor to his mother. It was also lovely to hear the choir sing the national anthem and Oh Little Town of Bethlehem.

How wonderful ... Charles has been through a lot in his life, and to me his often doubted sincerity, empathy and wisdom emanated from his speech.

As an American, I was just so shocked when Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II passed. I must say that Charles has handled himself beautifully. He is morning his mother, dealing with his younger son and his wife while starting his new role, becoming the King of England. Many say that he has prepared for this his whole life. I’m sure he is…he just has to be aware of a few bombs thrown his way from time to time.

I loved how it was done right there, in St.George's Chapel, knowing that both his Mum the late Queen and also his Father, the late Duke of Edinburgh, are both interred there, with the Queen's other immediate family. And I really appreciated the King bringing up too, that so many are having money troubles, getting food and heat problems, and the war, as well as all the beautiful ppl helping those out, who badly need help.
