What makes King Crimson incredibly terrifying is not it's physical prowess, hell, not even it's time erasure ability, it's future forecasting is what's truly scary. Erasing time is indeed a powerful ability, but without knowledge of future events, it can easily be countered and defeated.

-Maybe im reading too much into it but its a fact that vento aureo was inspired by the court of the cimson king. the color based stands coincide way too much with the lyrics. -the tournament begun ( Giorno start his journey) -the purple piper plays his chime ( originally Fugo was supposed to betray the gang and act as a mid boss somewhat) -( im definetely analysing this one way too much ): the sudden tone change may have inspired the sudden deaths of Diavolo's victims -The most interesting one imo ( I don't think this one is a stretch since vento aureo is heavily influenced by king crimson first album and it was at the start of the story so he may have put most of the symbolism there ) the keeper of the city keys ( Polpo is Giorno's way into the crime world) put shutters on the dream ( Giorno quote: I,Giorno Giovanna have a dream),I wait outside the pilgrims door with insufficient schemes ( he struggles against polpo),The BLACK Queen chants the funeral march....( obviously referenced by black sabbath ) -To summon back the fire witch (Trish) to the court of the crimson king(...) The parrallels are obvious on this one Trish may be seen as some sort of witch by Diavolo,someone who needs to die and is only ruining his life. -I run to grasp divining signs To satisfy the hoax Diavolo obsession that fate his on his side is basically just him convincing himself (hoax) -The yellow jester does not play But gently pulls the strings And smiles as the puppets dance Probably refers to Giorno in some way Anyway before saying it's a stretch, Take into account that the main villain stand is based on THE ENTIRE ALBUM (court of the crimson king, epitaph,21 st century schizoid man( What Diavolo basically is ). Everything I mentioned was mostly at the start of the part were Araki was probably really inspired by the album and personally, I think part 5 contain the most symbolism of all part( polpos missing fingers in reference to black sabbath for exemple ).

I think people are confused not by King Crimson's powers but by the explanations and metaphors. The "trance" analogy is confusing as well and while it's simple it creates the notion that KC affect only people's memories. Which is only one aspect of it's powers. It would be much easier if people understood that the nature of time in JOJO is deterministic. It's linear and rigid. Once action is set in motion it cannot be stopped. Simply put, King Crimson doesn't make people act mindlessly. People act as they would because they are bound by fate. King Crimson removes time around it's user and unbind him from fate and any consequences. That's basically it.

great video on my favorite, terribly misunderstood villain. i love how in depth you went with the music and lyrics, and explained diavolo's warped psyche. turned out amazing good work!

"The wall on which the prophets wrote is cracking at the seams" I think that part is referenced in the impressions of Diavolos face Abbacchios stand leaves in that concrete. And the iron gates are somewhat relevant to Narancia also. The "seeds of time" may also refer to Trish and Giorno, literally being the seeds of men who controlled time. "As I crawl a cracked and broken path" is literally shown in how the world around him falls apart when he erases time. "But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying" is also a reference to him looking towards the future and his constant anxiety around protecting his identity.

This is why part 5 is my favorite. I just feel as though the themes were so powerful & emotional, and I love that the cultural values of Italy were represented in many of the characters. It seems like a lot of ppl didn't care for Diavolo much as a villain since he was just too mysterious (& likely bc he didn't get so much screen time) but to me that captures one of the themes of his character & its beauty, we're forced to see the Boss as all of the characters see him-a figure that no one really knows.

The part with black queen and fire witch may also be represented in backstory of Doppio/Diavolo (I myself believe that Doppio was first). With Black Queen being Doppio's mother who's discovery by his adopted father led to Diavolo burning down the home village of his and Doppio aka summon of Fire Witch.

Something to note in regards to the reference to Epitaph (the song): It also is a very strong representation of what Buccarati's team are going through for all of Part 5. Notably: "Confusion will be my epitaph As I crawl a cracked and broken path If we make it we can all sit back and laugh But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying"

King Crimson's time erase ability is like a flip book, he cut's out the page that he doesn't want to happen while remaining untouched. Like him and Risotto, both were gonna get lighted up by Aerosmith but Diavolo cut the page where he got shot, leaving him unscathed and letting time resume once more.

*SPOILERS* for any animeonlies below: Not a bad analysis, but you got King Crimson's ability wrong. It literally erases time. In King Crimson vs. Metallica, Aerosmith's bullets pass through Diavolo's body and into Risotto. However, by using King Crimson, Diavolo erases the half-second of time where they entered his body, ending his ability just as they penetrate and fatally injure Risotto. During erased time, the world no longer exists for everyone except Diavolo, who is free to move while everything else is forced to obey its fate. Think of King Crimson like a video editing software for reality, and it'll make a lot more sense. I'm sure that while editing this video, you flubbed up some line readings or a loud truck drove past your house while you were recording. In editing, you would have cut out those undesirable pieces, keeping only the "results" you liked. Well, congrats - you just "erased time". Your viewer is none the wiser to these mistakes, and only you know what happened in the time they were made. That's King Crimson in a nutshell.

this has got to be the absolute best explanation of KC most people say he "Erases time" you still do, but you explain that that's what it FEELS LIKE to the people affected not what actually happens i honestly never knew about KC until i watched part 5 and the anime did an absolutely amazing job showing off how his power actually works (except for the plot-hole moments like with risotto and his first encounter with Bruno)

I think the tree at the end, being a symbol of the unconscious, could represent Diavolo as a whole lurking within Doppio, until he surfaces to make the nightmare all too real.

I've listened to KC ever since I was a child and the fact that Araki gave the band's name and such a rich, complex background to this stand and its user, truly makes me connect with how big KC has always been to me. Not only because I do like Diavolo and his stand a lot, but because it puts more and more on top of it. I don't really know how to tackle it since it's a strong feeling I have, and I can't really find the words for it, but since music is so personal to me, having grown up among musicians, it makes me like Diavolo and his brutal ability more than I'd regularly do, and certainly allows me (and you and so many others) to add layers and layers of great music and deep meanings to something that could be so trivial as watching anime or reading manga. (Maybe I'm reading too much into this but don't you think that Kanno made some themes from the OST kind of ominous as this record's songs? I get the feeling he added an extra aura to his work, inspired by KC.) I do have only one disagreement but it could only be just different interpretations? The puppets' line goes with a "yellow jester" who pulls the strings while he keeps hidden from the king's whimsical fun, and smiles as everyone moves around, unaware of his influence. I'd say that figure is meant to be Giorno.
