Documentary about George VI and his wife Elizabeth, King and Queen consort of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions. The story of Albert (his name before he became King) and Elizabeth, is one of goodness growing into greatness. In a short reign, just 14 years, they created an ideal of the British Royal Family. This documentary examines the legacy they built, a legacy that lives on in the way that their eldest daughter, Queen Elizabeth II, rules today.

You can see how the late Queen Elizabeth II got her strong sense of duty and service. Her father, King George VI was her inspiration and he laid all the groundwork and foundation for her reign.

What a great king and a great father he was for her majesty Queen Eluzabeth II

Just look at Elizabeth II on the balcony. She still looks like she's guarding the others, stands to the side, and follows them in last. She is the epitome of professionalism. The history that lady has bore witness to is quite frankly unbelievable.

amazing love story... the queen mother truly was a great influence to king George.. they seem.to be a pretty close family .. the love was more evident.. how come with Queen Elizabeths II reign.?? a totally different story, I think because a mothers touch of love is different to a father and because shes the head of state she couldnt show softness... i pity queen elizabeth II she had to contain her emotions ! ... but.. nevertheless.. she was raised by good parents and hats off to this monarchy... i just hope their popularity live up to the new generation of monarchs.. because so far Prince Charles is not a popular individual.. Prince William seemed lacking the charisma the same of his grandpa King George VI...

Divine Deschabel I agree with you. The thing about Prince William is that I don’t think he is nearly as hard as King George VI. King George the sixth trained his own kids as if they were in the military & belittled them. That was sad to learn because it wasn’t something that I was taught in world history or European history.

WWII defined my Generation. i was born in 1949.Babyboomers grew up in Hopeful times. We were optimistic & totally convinced of Americas invincibility & Rightness. Such was the Generation that-exists today. And many of our GI's were able to get an education, homes & create prosperity. This generation produced the Civil Rights Era, Antibiotics, VACCINATION against childhood diseases of Measles,Polio,Mumps & Rubella, among others, Open Heart Surgery for baby's with Congenital Heart Defects, and other Surgeries that have given us longer & healthier lives. The Great Society, an effort to create better lives for people-without hope. Student Loans for Kids whose parents couldn't afford to send them to college or Trade Schools. This Generation created the Space Age! But of course their is so much more to say about our Parents Generation & Ours. The History Books are filled with this Topic. I just had to remind my Generation, that the Present day negativity, IS'NT shared by this GENeration.
