Thank you for joining me as I start the CA30 build, beginning with the chassis. To try something different, I've incorporated overhead footage of the build happening while pausing to address parts warranting note or explanation.
Note: Find the scale bolt adapters in among the nuts n bolts, there are 2 of them and they look like spacers. On is for 2mm and the other 2.5mm scale hex head bolts encountered at the rear of the chassis.
Also, I do recommend having a stock of 6mm and 8mm long M2.5 bolts as the ones supplied were dome-headed 1.5mm hex type, and due to paint on the threads, most stripped their hex heads. 2mm hex'd capheads proved far stronger to get into tight threads.
Overall this is a really really nice chassis. It is smaller than our MC rigs, but somehow looks more genuine.

You need some taps to clean the threads out, but I have had these problems on kits. Those little bolts, i do have one of those drivers from the Ural :-) I did find going into plastic better to use a screw and wax to get the thread cut first. The Gaz back does look very good on it hope you are doing that. The MC8 is getting there and finally started to get the electric mess sorted. Making the cab non tilt and using the large open area is great and will make all easy living with the truck once finished.One little foo par I forget to order a servo extension lead for the gear change. The remounted speaker in the back makes the sound quite loud but it was the speaker from the Ural that was slightly louder.

Yeah man, I certainly do need some. Screw and wax?? Electric mess lol mine's in a ziplock bag haha. Can't wait to see it done sir.

@@antrc Wax when screwing into plastic helps a lot if it's the hard stuff. The electrics are a little messy because of the Y leads but does not matter as there is now so much room for all. I do not know why Cross did this tilting cab, not needed and easy to open that hatch to get to the on switch now. But all the lights and sound are working great. I did turn the power to the receiver up to 7.4v to help the servo a bit. It does lack power a little but not a problem when moving. Ordered Number plates, servo extension leads and more decal for the cab.

Pretty cool kit in my opinion I also had a couple hiccups along the way nothing to bed. looking forward to part. 2🙂

@@rileykairc never had a Tamiya truck kit. I'm curious but wary. Primarily its the chrome, I can't lie, which appeals. 🤓

@@antrc I have the flat bed trailer which I painted and weathered up to match my kk zl130 truck I have looked at them but am not sure there are better trucks out there for less Asia Tees has some nice ones, I did want the mammoth 8x8 and trailer but I just can't justify the price no matter how nice it is, it's a dream truck that will just stay that

Tel had one, it was his dream rig also but lucky enough to eventually buy one. Its sold now because it was a load of money sitting on the shelf. I look at the new Cross rigs and they're simply unaffordable. Oh well. We can dream. Tamiya rigs, well, I don't know where I'd run them. That's what's really stopped the pair of us. They don't look like they'd be good on the trails lol

Looking good brother. Should be a lot of fun when it's done. ..I do a lot of content on rare diecast muscle cars and trucks maybe you might want to check it out and we can trade subs to help each other out. Thanks for sharing
