I think this is one of the best "niche hobby" documentaries I've ever seen, speedrunning or not. Extraordinarily well editted, directed, and told. Amazing interviews, great job telling a cohesive story that was easy to understand as someone who has never played any KQ games, yet still made me care about each runner's achievements (both within the game and outside of it) and each of the game's milestones. Absolutely masterful work. You and the KQ6 community should feel very proud of what you've done.

i like this recent trend of all these niche speedrunning communities doing these WR histories of their own games that they're really passionate about. there's something so special about all the people coming together to document their small part in it and just archiving it for the sake of it. i especially loved how this one doesn't have a singular narrator, everyone just kinda chirps in for their story, great job

The King's Quest series meant a lot to me growing up. The first time I played KQ3, I didn't even know the K in "knife" is silent. I sat with a Swedish-English dictionary and looked up words as I went along. I learned English to try to survive these games, and it fostered a lifelong love of studying languages. When I finally got my very own computer, KQ6 was the first PC game I ever owned. All that aside, this was such a great video. Your script is amazing, the interviews were great, and you pulled it all together fantastically. You rock, and you really painted this community as a bunch of loveable human beings. Keep up the good work! :)

Something I love about speedrunning is one that I also love about golf. Everyone is competing against each other, but... not really. They are really competing against the course. Or in this case, the game. And the field is always thrilled when one of their fellow players shatters the course record with a new low score, or a new WR time in a run.

Has anyone showed this to Roberta Williams or Jane Jenson? If the passion and community shown here can touch those of us who've never played these games? Even if we never attempted a single speedrun in our lives? Then I can only imagine what it would be like for a creator to know that the love of her work still brings so many people together, decades later. Even in the wilds of the internet.

I know this is two years old, but I was feeling nostalgic and was watching videos about old games that I used to play. I thought I had forgotten everything about this game. Almost nothing looked familiar. UNTIL 'Girl in the tower' started playing, and I started singing along with the chorus without thinking about it at all. I don't ever remember listening to that song, but it's apparently been living rent free in my head for years. I must have sung along to it back in the day, because just the act of singing it felt familiar. Just crazy.

Your video format / editing is great. I've enjoyed all your videos so far. I missed these games in my generation, looking to actually get this one to play through.

While I'm not a speedrunner myself, I find them fascinating. This is such a great documentary of the history and methods used in this game. It's really heartwarming to see a tight-knit community working together to push the time as low as possible. =) I look forward to watching the rest of your videos!

This is one of my all-time favorite games, and this is an INCREDIBLE documentary. Two things I love! Plus, the reveal of the Gnome Skip made me absolutely lose my mind with laughter. Comedy gold with the editing!

Just finished watching this and checked the boards only to realize two new runners have taken 1st and 2nd place since then, so I guess the community is still growing.

You’re really good at directing and editing these videos man. I just watched two of these speedrun history videos one being 30 min and this one being 59 min and time just flew by! That’s talent bro! You should definitely continue doing this and I think if you’ll pursue it you can one day direct and edit a mainstream documentary and make it really big.

What an absolute amazing, wonderful look at a community coming together to advance their speedgame! I love the used of primary sources here, bringing together those runners to tell their own thoughts and stories.

This is an amazing video. Interviews and everything. You need a LOT more views than you're getting, amazing production quality and it helps that KQ6 is one of my favorite games.
